So, I saw James on Saturday...

Oct 30 2007 11:13 am   #1Caro Mio

My report:  http://caromiofic.livejournal.com/11177.html#cutid1

The short version: I got a hug, smiles, handshakes, chatted, and got a personalized autograph. He looked gorgeous, as usual, in a white v-neck Polo tee, blue jeans, and his distressed leather black jacket that's been in several pics. And having James lean right next to my ear and murmur something, in *that voice*? Worth. Every. Penney.

He managed to play guitar at the concert, despite having a broken index finger (he tripped in the middle of the night last week), and didn't miss nearly as many chord changes as he could have. I'm a proud fan. He really did rise above. The new album is pretty fun.

Ooh, SO jealous!!!  It's such a pain living in a rural area; it makes it so difficult to get to any events! :-(   Tell us more about how gorgeous he was...  *drools*

I met James for the first time a couple of months ago.  He really is the sweetest man.  You're so lucky that you got a chance to go to the album launch.

When I say, "I love you," it's not because I want you or because I can't have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I've seen your kindness and your strength. I've seen the best and the worst of you, and I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You're a hell of a woman. You're the one, Buffy.

That sounds like such a good time, Caro.  Glad you had the chance!

He really is the sweetest man.

He is, isn't he?

Hey, I went too, and found it kinda pointless to start another thread...Anyway, I blew off homework long enough to write up a report (well half of one, so far) too.

Writhing with envy - alternating with glad I wasn't there to start hyperventilating and make a big (and old) fool out of myself.

If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who?

I was the short(est), skinny girl with dark brown hair, and glasses for most of the day/night. I was wearing a black leather jacket, black pants, and a burgundy cami.

I'll come read your report after watching "House", Scarlet.

I swear to God, that boy has the best smile I've ever seen.  I think I'm glad I wasn't there, 'cause if he turned that smile on me, I'd be a puddle on the floor.  :-D

I can't tell you how much I love that smile, in all incarnations. The full-out one, the naughty grin, the simple "thanks" smile, the smirk.......all get me right. here.

My automatic response is to smile back just as big. I can't help it. He smiles, I smile. Probably look like a dang fool while I'm at it, so I'm happy there aren't pics of me in that moment, LOL. But yeah....every time we saw each other that day, we smiled......sends me into bouncy-squeeing-teenage-giggle mode every time, and I'm 30!

Unfortunately, I've never seen James in person (God, please let me win the lottery so I can go see him in person, Amen) but I've seen a zillion pictures, film clips, movies, interviews, etc etc etc; anyone out there who has seen James up close and personal feel free to correct me, but it never seems like his smile is faked.  I mean, I know he's an actor and all, but it always looks like he really means it when he smiles!  I've never seen him with one of those closed lip "hey, I don't know you, but it's polite, so here's my fake smile" smile.   Everytime I've seen photos of him with fans at conventions and such, it always seems so real; like he's really happy to see that person.   For those of you who've met him, talked to him, touched him (jealous, jealous jealous!!!!) what do you think?

He made me forget words beyond "Ok" and "Oh" for the first five minutes.

It isn't fake, mainly because he seems to want to find something likeable in everybody, and automatically assumes there must be something and this is a good person. I've only heard of a couple instances ever where someone observed that he was faking being comfortable and nice when he really wasn't happy to be in front of that person at all - and I've been reading fan reports since 2001.

He truly does pull it from a genuine place, is truly happy to play the good host and make you feel welcome. He's quite intuitive, so he'll adjust to how you approach him - i.e., he knows right away if someone's shy, so he'll be soft and gentle and not touch at all unless they look open to it or touch him first. He's admitted that he's bad with names, but he does remember faces, especially the ones he sees at almost every event, and they really do benefit from that beaming smile.

He just radiates good vibes. If you ever do get to see him in person, you'll feel it right away.

Oh yeah, it's definitely not fake.  You can just tell how much he loves his fans.  I do tend to be very shy and was standing a little too far away from him when we got our picture taken, but he wouldn't have that and wrapped his arms around me, pulling me closer to his side.  I had no complaints...lol!  It's true what they say, that man smells very good=)

No, but I wish I was.  I was just referring to when I met him at Dragon Con a couple of months ago.

Does anyone know if he ever comes to Canada?

Alas, I'm fairly certain he's never come to Kansas...and never will.  Le sigh.

Whoops, thought I was still logged in.  That was me before, the pouty Midwesterner.

Yeah, your closest bets have been Chicago or Texas. *pats Coquine*
