JM's un-secrets

Dec 10 2007 10:51 pm   #1Scarlet Ibis

From JMLIve.com - "You never heard this from us, but a little UK birdie told us ... "Keep April 26 – May 4, 2008 free" - more details to come."

Collectomania, or whatever it's called. But here's some good news for those of us who can't make it across the pond...

We're very happy to announce that JAMES MARSTERS, one of our favorite stars, will be headlining The 2008 GRAND SLAM: THE SCI-FI SUMMIT Convention coming to Burbank California's Airport Marriott Hotel on April 11-13, 2008. The incredibly busy actor has recently been cast as the villainous Piccolo in the eagerly awaited feature film DRAGONBALL Z which will be released next August.

James' convention and concert appearances are always amazing and along with his stage time he will be signing autographs and doing photo ops (a couple of cool samples within this message). CLICK HERE to visit the GRAND SLAM site and pick up your JAMES MARSTERS' concert and autograph tickets and photo ops! James will be on hand SATURDAY and SUNDAY of the convention as well performing a musical concert on SATURDAY Evening at 8:30 pm.

See you in April!

STEVE RECAPS EXCITING NIGHT

[12-10-07] It was a really wonderful, exciting night for James at the premiere of PS I Love You. The premiere was held at the historic Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. James arrived in a limo provided by the studio and proceeded to walk down the red carpet and do about 45 minutes of interviews. The press all wanted to know more about his upcoming role in Dragonball! He met up with his fellow cast mates (Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler, Harry Connick Jr., Lisa Kudrow and Gina Gershon) and they all took a cast photo before heading in to watch the movie. The movie (in my opinion) is a really well made, beautiful love story. I was really proud every time James’ character came on screen. When the movie let out, James was headed to the limo to go to the after party when he spotted a group of familiar faces (fans) waiting on the side and he ran over to say hello. He then headed off to the party to join everyone in celebrating the launch of the movie. He looked like a million bucks wearing a really sharp all black suit and shirt (no tie) - hard to imagine no jeans and t-shirt. - Steve

Aww, Steve is adorable. He's like a proud papa.

Nice about the Grand Slam appearance, though for me that's not actually any more do-able than the UK. Wonder if he'll do a concert to coincide with the con.

Oh, there is E--it's separate and after the concert.  $50 for reserved seats, and $25 for general admission.  I can't afford the con...so I'll probably go to that, if I'm in LA (crosses fingers).

Though I plan on being in LA anyway...would the Midwest, oh say, Chicago be better/closer/more accessible for anyone?

Maybe there should be like some kind of poll on his site for his US fans, if he's worried about how many can actually show up.  Just a thought.

Seeing as how I'm on the opposite side of the continent, in order for me to make it to one of his appearances without selling one of my kidneys, he'd have to appear in either one of the New England states, or one of the major cities in this half of Canada, like Montreal or Toronto.  Has he ever shown up in Boston?  I could probably manage Boston....  :(

Or does anyone know how I go about selling one of my kidneys??

I'm also on the east coast, and I can't go anywhere that I'd have to fly, so I'm limited to New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC. Of those, so far, I think he's only gone to NY, so I don't really hold out much hope of seeing him perform again unless I move to LA or England, or suddenly get a lot richer.

I'd do any of those; drove to DC once; only took 18 hours, and what should be an illegal amount of coffee.  :hyper:  Generally not an experience I'd aim to repeat.  However, I'd be willing to OD again, for Jimmy.  ;)

NY/NJ, he has done Chicago for a con before, Houston, Atlanta, Oakland CA. There was one in PA quite a while back.

Don't think there's been a Boston con. He's kinda limited to where the conventions go, unless he does a concert some place. But you can always email his manager, Steve, about places you'd like James to show up. He does take those into account, along with James' schedule.

I am SO there.  Husband doesn't know it yet, but I just figured out what I want for Christmas ;-)

I'm in CT, so Boston, NY, and DC are all very drivable.  I could probably do Atlanta.  Chicago is a $90 Southwest flight.

Or does anyone know how I go about selling one of my kidneys?

Sorry, had to get that out :-)

Wait--are you guys doing the con too or just the concert?

Both con and concert for me, Scarlet.  Already totaled up the cost for the hotel, concert, con, etc. :-)

Just to let you know, it's possible you'll need to buy a day admission pass later to get in for the concert. I think people had to do that last year.

But for now, you can buy things a la carte as you have money for them. I'll be doing both days, since I'm local.

Already totaled up the cost for the hotel, concert, con, etc.

Out of curiosity, how much did it come to? I won't be able to do it anyway, but I'm wondering how many limbs I'd have to sell if I did.

The cheapest ticket for the con, the "silver," is $179.  The concert is $25-50.  I think I may take the cheap ticket for the con...cause, ya know, I'm crazy for James.  I recommend a credit card with 0 APR for the first nine months, and use it only for that purpose, cut it up right after so you can't see the numbers and what not, then work your ass off paying it back. Yup, that's what I did for the album release :P

They will have day admissions later for slightly less than the Silver ticket (grouped), or they have before.

Dec 13 2007 02:39 am   #20Scarlet Ibis

Then what exactly is the difference between those tickets and the silver tickets?  What ticket do you need to actually get him to sign something?  I'm guessing those day tickets just refer to hearing the Q&A, right?

Yes. You buy day admission, then pick up auto and photo tickets. A lot of people will do this because of the $7.95 service charge per ticket you order.

You know, I could do that, Scarlet, with the credit card, but affordability aside, there's no way I could justify spending that much money on a celebrity...

Perhaps I'm missing something, but when I click on "concert tickets," it just takes me to a link to buy tickets for the convention.  A little help, please?

Oh, E!  Justify, smchustify.  Um...you only live once, and perhaps soon, we may not even have this.  After P.S. I Love You and Dragonball, people are going to notice him...and he may not have time for this anymore.  Take it while you can--at least once.

Gah, I cringe just at the thought of explaining why I bought a plane ticket to California for the weekend... I went to a gig once, so I did take the opportunity when he was within driving distance.

Besides, my imagination's probably better, anyway.

Well, at least you went one :P  But, if I were to go (from Chicago, cause I'll already be there), I'd make it a long weekend as opposed to just those two days.

And you must have one helluva imagination, girl ;)

Haha, well, in my imagination, I don't get at all tongue-tied when I meet him. And... let's just say I get more for my money than a hug and a photo. ;)
