BSV Forum - Support - How and where? Editor again... Please tell me about your experiences with the latest editor. Don't forget to tell me which browser/operating system you've used if you run across problems. And if it has to do with copying from another program, I'll need to know which one. Have a formatting that simply disappears? Don't forget to mention what disappears and what stays. Thanks - and I'm sorry to be such a bother. "The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has limits." - Albert Einstein Dec 18 2007 11:32 pm #2LadyYashka I'm using Internet Explorer and I copied my text from Microsoft Works Word. The italics stayed but it smooshed my paragraphs together. Edited(because I forgot to mention): It was the Rich Text one that smooshed the paragraphs together. Tomorrow may be hell, but today was a good writing day, and on the good writing days nothing else matters. — Neil Gaiman For everyone who has the problem LadyYashka mentioned, please try if the "RichText DW" one works better for you. "The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has limits." - Albert Einstein Dec 19 2007 01:22 am #4slaymesoftly Seems to work fine for me - I just used copy/paste from my document with the html tags in. Not sure how to use richtext. oops - using Firefox I am not a minion of Evil... I am upper management. I tried copying and pasting from Word, using both Rich Text and Rich Text DW. Both worked fine with Firefox. Writing should feel easy, like a monkey driving a speed boat. Cool I even got the browser-side spell checker to work. Tested it in Firefox and IE6 (spell checker via ie7pro addon) so far and it works fine. If your browser has a spell checker, you'll now see the little red lines below all the words it believes to be misspelled. If you right-click the word while pressing the CTRL-key, you can use it like you're used to. Maybe not all that interesting for the story-submissions, but I for one would like to be able to spell check my forum-entries. (Still using IE and MS Works Word) It worked perfectly this time. :) Tomorrow may be hell, but today was a good writing day, and on the good writing days nothing else matters. — Neil Gaiman Glad to hear that. I put the "Quote" button you know from the forum one the tabs "HTML" and "RichText". Of course it won't go onto the submission form, but I thought the sample-version was the perfect place to try and improve it. You can now include more than one quote into your text, and put it anywhere in your text. On the HTML tab, the quote will always show up at the end of the text you've written; same on the RichText tab if you're using Internet Explorer. Firefox seems to be able to remember the cursor position and puts the quote anywhere you want it. (At the moment the quote is just the text, enclosed in [ quoted ] [ /quoted ] tags. I'll change those to formatting tags once we're done with the test runs.) "The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has limits." - Albert Einstein Hi, this question about the site is a little silly so I didn't know where to put it. Rather simply, I checked out the new comic skin, which is fantastic and the colors are great, but the words in the middle of the top picture are driving me crazy because I can't figure out what the words cut off are. I can make out "look inside your heart, you don't have to be a... ...od what you are". Before I go crazy looking for quotes, could someone tell me what it's supposed to read as? Please? I get stuck on these things and they bug me for days. Dec 22 2007 08:30 pm #10Always_jbj It's 'afraid'... 'you don't have to be afraid of what you are' ... it isn't actually cut off...the text is just the same colour as his face, so it disappears. lol Aim from the heart Some will love and some will curse you, baby You can go to war But only if you have to Fanfic ~*~ Artwork ~*~ Live Journal Added two more buttons of my own. Those two even do something you can see, instead of just messing with the code. See the two buttons that look like the lj user and community symbols? Yup, they do what you've probably already guessed, they create the same effect you get by using the lj-user tag on lj. Thought since most of us have ljs anyway, that would be a useful addition. The two new buttons, as well as the email-scrambler are of course meant for the forum. Those buttons will be invisible on the story-submission version of the editor, I'm simply using the one demo for everything right now.
