BSV Forum - General - Off-Topic Digital eBook reader Jan 29 2008 05:21 pm #1MissMartin I have been looking at these lately online and I was wondering does anyone have one? want one? have anything to say about them? I wonder if the 300$ price tag is worth it and what brand to look into? Thanks Kelly Jan 29 2008 08:21 pm #2Always_jbj I have a Sony PRS 500 and I love it... and the new model looks like it has some great improvements (like better placed page turning buttons) and holds 160 books instead of 80. I can't tell you anything about any of the other brands on offer. You might find some useful info HERE Aim from the heart Some will love and some will curse you, baby You can go to war But only if you have to Fanfic ~*~ Artwork ~*~ Live Journal Jan 29 2008 09:24 pm #3MissMartin Thanks so much for the link, I was wondering how different the 500 and the 505 were? What are some of the places you have used your digital reader? like the car? the beach? your home? Do you use your reader for anything other than recreational reading? Also where do you get your eBooks from, I read historical romance and all the books offered at the sony store were like 6$, I could buy the paperback cheaper at WalMart. Again thanks Jan 29 2008 10:45 pm #4Always_jbj LOL I actually use mine mostly for fanfic (esp when I'm judging and have a lot of reading to do). I pretty much just carry it around in my handbag like you would a book, that way if I've got waiting time anywhere (like the school carpark when waiting for the child) I can read. But I think there are links on that forum for cheap (and sometimes free) places to get books. Showed it to my husband, and said, "This is my Christmas present for next year". He promptly said "Great, now she'll be taking fanfic with her EVERYwhere!" A beautiful and ineffectual angel, beating in the void his luminous wings in vain - Matthew Arnold Jan 31 2008 05:45 pm #7MissMartin I think I am going to buy one with my tax return, I just want to make sure that I am going to be satisfied. The Amazon Kindle was more costly than the Sony, so I really did not look at it too much. I will take a second look now. Thanks Jan 31 2008 09:51 pm #8Always_jbj Yeah, the Kindle looks interesting...but at the morment it isn't much use to those of us who live outside the USA (until they expand their network). So if the Kindle is more economic you could still get it, since you don't really need to use its downloading software. (of course I could be way off topic, since I'm only half sure I fully understand how it works... and that was one strange sentence!) xxx What can I tell you, baby? I've always been bad... Jan 31 2008 10:47 pm #10Always_jbj LOL Well, I have a Sony E Reader, so the only reason I would be interested in the Kindle is for its cool wireless 'download anywhere' feature, and as that isn't available outside the US... There goes my brilliant suggestion, then! :P xxx What can I tell you, baby? I've always been bad... | |||
