buffy movie?

So on hollywood 411 just now the possibility of a Buffy movie came up. If they did a movie do you think they would have the forehead (craptastic angel) as Buffy's love intrest or our real hero and champion Spike? or would whedon go lame and have no love intrest for Buffy?

Pretty sure it would be Spike.  David B. isn't intrested in playing Buffy's side-kick.  He wants Angel to be the lead of the movie which just aint happening, Buffy is a lot more popular.  James on the otherhand would have no trouble with it.  Joss would do everything in his power to make the movie a succes, so there must be a love-intrest and Spuffy is quite known,well-loved, bankable.  Spike's the underdog, and we all know that underdogs often win.

Don't forget the time period of the movie. It could be an 'unseen' summer vacation during the series or before arriving in SunnyD or post-Chosen... and the fans who read the comics would be annoyed if they were discounted and instead just had Spike and Buffy happily ever after. I think Joss Whedon said something about not getting Spike and Buffy together because they needed to be apart and Buffy needed to not have to have a guy, like her speech about not being 'done' yet to Angel. I would love a Spike/Bffy romance which is why I love fanfic, but having an official movie and trying to fit it in with a lot of different fans' ideas must be hard and I don't know... I think they might have Buffy with a totally new character as a love interest. Otherwise it's like rewriting all the comics and undercutting the actual TV shows' endings in Chosen and NFA.

I would say that SMG's next three movies have to tank as badly as the last two in order for it to even be plausible.  In the past, she tried to really distance herself from Buffy, but since she started acting like she liked Buffy again, maybe it's more of a possibility.  Also, if the scoobies are to be involved, Alyson Hannigan would have to lose her series, cause she seems pretty happy at the moment.

Then there is the possibility that it wouldn't focus on Buffy at all, but one or more of the new Slayers.

Unless it's Faith, can you honestly say you'd want to see it?  I'm thinking, if it doesn't involve Spike, Buffy, Faith, and/or Angel (in that order), then I can't get my interest up for it.

I think the time has simply passed for a Buffy film - I could go with a TV film with Spike and Lorne, too bad that Wesley was killed off - because a film with Spike, Lorne and Wesley or Gunn would  work. They could work with totally new characters, some of the witches from The Coven, Giles as Head of CoW and do something with the new slayers -

I think that to try and work with the SMG and AH is not really important - by now The Slayers have been established as canon, and Spike, Giles, Gunn, & Lorne all have great story lines - bringing in new characters, combined with a few from the series could give continuity plus added interest with new characters.  I always thought a time travel story would be interesting.

The thing is, Buffy was interesting because they were able to have such long story arc - to make a Buffy film that would be as compelling to a new audience would probably have to be a very different creation than Buffy on television.   My only wish is that The Doll House is terrific and that Joss Whedon can have another wonderful TV hit and that there will not be another repeat of the Firefly fiasco.

As far as doing in kind of romance with SMG and another male lead - what can we say except "old hat" and who really cares - is has been too many years.  We have to leave Buffy and Spike in the capable hands of the FF writers - I would much prefer to leave the entire issue of SMG's Buffy and her love life completely out of any film.

I have not seen any of her films other the The Grudge , I did see part of her contemporary remake of Dangerous Liaisons - much prefer the Glenn Close version - Anyone have a recommendation for me - I keep wanting to rent one, but I never can remember any titles -

Joss just said at the Paley Fest panel that he would try to fit it together, but if he had to throw out the comics entirely in order to do a movie, he'd do it.

Of course, he also stressed the incredible number of stars that would have to align for it to happen, so I don't think it's at all likely. I think if we ever do see a Buffy movie, it will be a remake years in the future, with an entirely different cast (possibly playing the same characters, or just Buffy surrounded by a whole new group of friends, as happened when going from the original movie to the TV show) - and probably not done by Joss.
Writing should feel easy, like a monkey driving a speed boat.

I agree with Eowyn.  This also causes me to question whether I'd want to see it.  Pretty sure that's a no.  First off, a remake in film form, with a different cast?  No, no, no.  Not done by Joss?  Then absolutely no.  I'd watch a lego version of the show if Joss was at the helm, but without him, I don't think it would be very good.
This may be off topic, but isn't it enough that we have two series and a future in the comics?  There are so many factors in what makes a show successful, and there's virtually no way of replicating that, especially as more time passes.  I hold to the adage, "Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it."

Yeah, I don't see a movie about Buffy or the others in the cards. As I said earlier though, a movie based in the Buffyverse, but with different characters all together would be interesting(or at least for me it would be). Or, better yet, get David, James, Julie, and Juliet and do one about the Scourge. THAT would be fun.

If I could get my wish, the  film that I would like to see would be one based on Angel After The Fall -  Except it would be very expensive so I will just have to keep loving the comic seasons -

I don't believe there will be a movie, so I'm sticking with the season eight we have.

There's a poll over at Scifi wire about how the Buffyverse should live on,continue.    A Spike tv-show is leading by 31%.

I don't know if I want a movie. A part of me does, cause I'd love to have the characters on screen again, but another part of me thinks it might mess up what we got on the show.
