Banners To Take

Jun 24 2008 08:50 am   #1nmcil
Hi All -

Been working on some Banners that anyone can use if they have stories that might fit them or if you just want to post and share the images - just credit NMCIL with link to www.whedonworld.com   or  the Flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/nmcil/

Also, I am looking for writers that would like to create small works or drabbles or excerpts  to go with my new studies - "Notes From William Pratt"

New Images are at my Flickr Site:    http://www.flickr.com/photos/nmcil/

Hope you can check them out and even better would be if someone can use them for banners to make stories to go with them -

What kind of stories are you looking for?  Did you get someone to do your comic book?
If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who?

I just made the images and thought if some writers had a story that might fit them they could use them - Titles will be changed to accommodate the writer's wishes -  On the Notes From William Pratt - any things goes, but I suspect that ficlets or drabbles would fit - I guess I was thinking along the line of letters - but again, I offer the images for use to writers that have works that might be appropriate to the image.  Any of the images at my Flickr site that are in the Whedonverse or Buffyverse sets are available for use - except the ones that already belong to a story - those will have the title and author on them.

No one offered to work on the comic books  - but I enjoyed doing the covers  - guess for the Spuffy Comics to work It would be better to work with a writer and suit to comic cover to the story.  I just got started on the comic cover because I wanted to see if someone would want to do a comic style Spuffy story  related to Satsu and Buffy affair.

Thing is I have tons of images, and I think many of them would be excellent with some of the Buffyverse and Spuffy FF works.  When I started my gallery site, I always wanted to use excerpts from FF to go with the images - Many of the Buffyverse FF works are powerful and poetical and have such splendid use of language.  As a visual artist, I love when words are used like verbal paintings and I love working to connect both art forms -

posted some new banner studies - some for Pfeifferpack  and some for anyone who might have use for them - As always, any text and format can be changed as needed.

Posted them at my nmcil yahoo site - check the banners photo album - also posted icons that can be used for anyone who might like them.

nmcil yahoo:  http://tv.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/nmcil/photos

Is it a good idea to start a Bloodshedverse yahoo site to post or discuss any images or banner need?  would be easy to post images this way.

we could make it a private group and I would be the moderator to control access - let me know what you think -

Great work, nmcil!  There are so many beautiful ones here, but I think the "BigBad toys" one is my favorite.  I was actually trying to make a banner sort of like that for my story, with a big bloody clockface. But then I realized I sucked at it so I gave up, lol.

The banners you made for my story  ar beautiful (love the different sizes too).  I am so honored that such a gifted artist is doing illustrations for my stories.  I just joined the yahoo group and am excited beyond words that we've now met and hope for a long and happy friendship!

Hi lostboy -

Version 2 is now posted at flickr - - tightened up all the elements and went for more elegant and stronger image -  Hope you like it -  we can still play around with it - and I think I still want to try another version with the pink eyes and superimposed characters - just for fun, see how it looks - but with my schedule that may have to wait until I get back -   I can tone down the pink eye just a tad if you want - this may be a little stronger than you want.

Kathleen - I played around with some Spike and Buffy in Abq. - I will send you a copy

nmcil... this is SO AWESOME.  I am over the moon in love with this banner... I didn't think it was possible to do one that expressed all the major story elements, but this does that to an incredible degree.  You are such a gifted artist, it's not even funny.

Not only does it sum up the story, it is really a beautiful image;  everything from the color palette to the composition to the image selection is just very attractive to me.  The unique symbols you chose are powerful and intelligent.  They've actually really inspired me out of my writing coma!  Thanks for the amazing work... I can't wait to post it everywhere!

Thanks for the lovely attempt, nmcil. I don't really look at the forums very often here. If you want to contact me, could you do so through my LJ? I didn't know this was here until someone told me!

I really like the cap you used of Buffy and the cross. She looks great and it's very hig quality. Angel's face to the left also makes for a nice composition where Buffy literally looks like she's looking across the  banner into her past, with Spike and she caught in the middle. My only question is is the pink thing on the bottom? There's three screen caps and then the cross and... something underneath it? I couldn't really make it out.

Thanks!

I don't think the burn mark in the shape of the cross should be removed because that's pretty much what the set of ficlets is about. Maybe you could tinker a bit with the composition in the middle of the banner so that Spike's face in more prominent and the burn image looks a little sharper. Can you also eliminate the pink section of the background? Lets see how that works, instead.

I can't wait to see what you come up with!
