Oh no another site problem

Dia and Slayme - this morning when I clicked on a forum, it dumped me into a another skin in which I wasn't logged on.  Very weird.  I thought that the forums weren't recycling to the top a couple of days ago, but I dismissed it as only me.

I still use the old skin for this site, and when I clicked the forum link, I didn't have any problems - same skin (fairly fast load too! yay!). Hmmmm... Might just be a one-time thing with your browser, but either way, I'll mention it to the other mods.

I'm having a little trouble loading things tonight - wasn't sure I was even going to be able to get on the forum. I hope we're not losing it - right now, the forum and the chat are what's keeping the BSV community together.  However, it's raining here, so it might just be issues with my satellite.

Weird, the site (even the forum) is loading nice and quickly for me today, and I usually have a bitch of a time getting the site to load because of my sloooow internet connection

I've been having a problem where, occasionally, the site loads with the default skin (I still have it set to the punk Spike one) and there's nothing in the "Recently Updated" or "Forum" boxes on the right. I'm still logged in, though, and usually if I refresh it goes back to normal.

I've been using the kinda newer blue skin, and I've no issues with it switching by itself.  Maybe it's something to do with the older skins.  No trouble with slow connection, either.  Just the same old no stories deal :P

Last night the forums loaded so slowly that I was afraid they weren't going to come up at all.  But tonight they are running fast again, so I don't know what caused it.  Maybe we should threaten to lock the web server host in a room with a bunch of polgara demons if they don't make correcting the BSV problems their top priority.  I'm going through BSV withdrawal and need my "fix" again soon!!!

I use the blue skin and it's always the same for me.  The site - or certain pages of it - does tend to load slowly, though. Even when it appears to have loaded quickly, if I look at the bar I can see that it is not quite finished. I've found that if I get impatient and try to navigate to another page before that last little bit has loaded, that makes it unhappy. Refreshing helps with pages that don't appear to have loaded.  However, there are still parts of the site that just load so slowly that they never finish.   I wonder if that's what's happening with our text? I can tell, usually, when I do my tests that it still isn't going to work just by the length of time it takes for the submission page to load after I click "submit". *sigh*

I use the blue skin also  - sometimes it works super slow but mostly it normal -

Does anyone know if the costs for hosting plans would make a difference?  I have been reading on the Nocturnal Light and it loads quickly between pages - just wondering if what we pay for our site or if owners had to upgrade programs would help solve the problems.

I have never had to transfer my gallery site and it is extremely small compared to anything like this site - but if we had to get a new host or rebuilt the site - is that something that we could all help with and would the site owners want to go this route -

Dia is the site owner nmcil.  She is totally in charge of where it is hosted. She chose the current one because of problems with the previous host.  It's entirely possible that the reason this is taking so long is that she is looking into other hosting options.  But I don't know. I'm just guessing since it seems the current host has not been able to solve the problems.  If the problem is not with the hosting company, but with the script, then Dia is undoubtedly up to her earlobes in trying to figure out what is wrong and where it is. Again, something only she can do, as she wrote the code.

I use the old brown skin as it is easier on my eyes, but once or twice I have clicked on the forum and it turned to the blue skin, so I think it may have something to do with the older skins.
I feel so badly for Dia, she must be ready to pull her hair out.
