Spike's motorcycle

What brand/type is it? When do we first see it? And does it mysteriously change into another bike throughout the show? (Does Spike exchange his car for it?)

First time I remember Spike with a bike is during the opening shots of one of the Bargaining episodes when he's out with Dawn.  He knocks the demon off of it and takes it.

Okay, I went and looked at the screencaps, it's Bargaining 2.  If nobody comes back and can tell you what kind of bike it is, I'll have hubby look at it.  He was big into bikes when we met.   He might at least be able to tell us the make.

The bike we saw Spike on at first he stole from a demon. Since he's Spike, I'm sure if/when he needed or wanted another one, he'd just liberate it from some other demon. :)  If you can't tell at a glance what the brand is  - no product placement there, apparently. lol  There's nothing in canon that I can think of to indicate that he sold the Desoto. It just kind of ceased to be part of his persona at some point during late season V. At least in terms of what we see.  He may have still had it, it just wasn't necessary to show it on screen, so they didn't. Remember when Dawn breaks her arm, Buffy asks Spike to get her to the ER. I doubt they walked there. Although, I think they did walk just about everywhere they went during that season, so it's possible...

Thanks, guys. Wow, I never knew that Spike was first shown with a motorcycle in S6. I thought it was earlier in S5. Pouts. Now I have to change that bit in my fic.

That would be great. Thank you.

Yeah, only stuff I heard about the bike, itself, was James saying it was old junk and was terrible to start...had to try over and over just to get it running. Said something similar about the Desoto, that the actual car ran like crap. Shows and movies frequently rent cars from private owners as well as fleet services, so the car, etc. can really be hit or miss on how it actually works. A lot of people that rent/lease their older vehicle out just have it look nice on the outside and maybe have it drivable all the way to the studio.

The only time I remember the bike is when he first got it in the 6th season, and then he took Buffy around in it during "Life Serial," even though they didn't show it.  And then at the end of the 6th season when he was leaving town, but chances are, that was the last we ever saw of that particular bike.  It was mentioned before that he probably traded it in order to make it to Africa, because there's no way he could have made it there on the motorcycle alone, so it's probably a different one being shown in the 7th season with Andrew, unless he somehow got it back.
When I say, "I love you," it's not because I want you or because I can't have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I've seen your kindness and your strength. I've seen the best and the worst of you, and I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You're a hell of a woman. You're the one, Buffy.

<--has never heard this.

At any rate, it's doubtful the money he could get from a used bike would cover the costs to get to Africa.

It was mentioned in another thread, but yeah, I doubt he would have gotten much for that.  I guess that's just one of those things we'll never know.

I think it was just someone's fanfic that had him sell it.  I personally think he hid it around the dock area so when he returned on the ship , the bike would be where he left it so he could ride it back to Sunnyhell. (I assume he hid in the dark hold and never paid for the trip!)  Although he was mentally such a mess when he returned that I am suprised he was able to make it back from Africa at all!
