But then again, fourth place is Smallville's Clark Kent and Lana Lang. There's no accounting for taste... ;)

Well, the spuffy picture is during a spell and the Bangel is after Joyce's death.  Did you all go futher into the voting find that Cordelia/Willow/Xander is the #4 Love Triangle?
Feb 12 2010 07:53 pm   #4coalitiongirl
Oh, and there's also a link on that page to movies' best Chosen One, and Kristy Swanson as Buffy is a choice there... not that we abide by such nonsense. :D

Spuffy still 3rd place - looks like this is a One Vote Only site - so if you want Spuffy to win - you need to vote - Be Nice to have Buffy & Spike win this one for Valentine's Day -

Perhaps this is my Spangel side speaking, but the list of couples was quite, well, hetero.  The unconventional couples were more fun to watch IMO.  Like Spader and Shatner--awesome sauce.
Feb 12 2010 10:10 pm   #7coalitiongirl
I agree- although I did notice that for love triangles, they featured the Scrubs trio Turk, JD, and Carla. And I'm pretty sure that they didn't mean the two guys fighting over the girl there, if any of you watch Scrubs and know what I mean. ;)

And yeah! Spangel's canon! And I'd definitely vote for them over Angel/Buffy or even Angel/Cordy... :D

It would have been great to have Tara and Willow as a choice to vote for -

Here's a place to vote for best TV couple. Tara and Willow are an option and are currently beating both Spuffy and Bangel.
Feb 16 2010 06:09 am   #10Scarlet the Liberal
This poll is also a bunch of bunk.  I'm going to quote myself from the comments section of this last poll:

So...I only skimmed, but I'm fairly certain I didn't see some of my favorite couples on there. Spike and Angel/Spangel was canon. Denny Crane and Alan Shore were also a couple--hell, they were *married*, and weren't on there. Sean McNamara and Christian Troy are partners who love each other-- and yet none of these couples were listed as a choice. Why? How can you list Puck/Rachel as a choice for a couple--a show that's only been on one season, and a "relationship" and I use that word lightly, that only lasted *one* episode be in the running for favorite couple?

Feb 16 2010 04:41 pm   #11BandS
Some of these polls are redunkulous!  I mean where the heck was Sarah Michelle Gellar in leather pants???  And another poll Eliza Dushku beat out Sarah's black undie Maxim shoot...personally I think Sarah gained some needed weight while I was like where is the rest of Eliza?  She has gotten to the point it looks dangerously ill.

These polls are seriously crazy wacked!  Uh who is this Tokio group?  Never heard of em...are they new?

Feb 16 2010 05:41 pm   #12TammyDevil666
Tokio Hotel?  I guess they are somewhat new, but I'm not really a fan.  I don't care much for these polls anymore.  I tend to not bother with them.
When I say, "I love you," it's not because I want you or because I can't have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I've seen your kindness and your strength. I've seen the best and the worst of you, and I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You're a hell of a woman. You're the one, Buffy.
Feb 16 2010 06:00 pm   #13BandS
Ah Thanks Tammy...had no clue who they were.  They seemed like boys 'dressing' up to me.  Hadn't the slightest they were a rock group.  Some of these polls are a bit out there and funny...while some are downright hard to answer because there are some answers I would answer vote for two candidates or more...

But like you I take these with a grain of salt because ultimately we are all going to have different views on what was our favorite and these polls are kinda funny because you aren't really getting a good tally up to begin with.  Why...because not everyone knows about it.

There was one that actually had best slap and TWO were from One Tree Hill which I found kinda funny...The first seems to be Brooke Slapping Peyton except if we go further into the story the BEST reason for the Slap would go to Peyton punching Brooke for sleeping with Nathan while she was still with him.  Yet most chose Brooke slapping Peyton coming between her relationship with Lucas...which in actuality if you look at it...Peyton WAS being honest and spoke to her friend first.  How does that merit for a slap?  Yet, Brooke DID deserve the punch for what she did with Nathan...regardless how much Nathan and Peyton were together---that went way over the line.  So I shake my head at what people are choosing for these answers...obviously they aren't reading the actual poll headline.  I was actually torn in that group with best slap reason, but I ultimately chose Peyton punching Brooke because well, Brooke was a hypocrite.  I didn't choose Buffy punching Parker because uh, why couldn't she do that sober or not in a magically induced beer state?  Damn reasonings my head went through lmao...

So ya I should stay away from polls lol...

HI,

Gotta scroll down to Game 2.8 to vote for Spuffy, they're up against Ryan and Marissa from the OC.Agh hated that show.  So far they're ahead :)
Feb 19 2010 09:22 pm   #16AE
Well now Spuffy is losing to Ryan/Marissa...they went down like 16% in the past couple of hrs.But Bangel just goes up...guess the Bangels are out voting nonstop and voting for Ryan/Marissa too. So let's vote, vote, vote for Spuffy!!  Man what a shame to lose to Ryan/Marissa. :sigh:
Feb 19 2010 11:17 pm   #17nmcil

members with good and high volume connections should do a mention on their LJ sites -  I hate the idea that Buffy-Angel Forever will actually come at on top of the Spuffy relationship.
Guess I will go vote again -

There are some pretty strange results showing up on this poll -

Here is a great project being done with the Whedonverse characters - this is showing up at  WHEDONesque site as well -  The original list that was made was, IMO, very good choices and made by the originators - this second poll is a reaction to the first.  Think Spike was listed as 9th, just below Andrew in the original listing - this is a listing of character transformation arcs.  ALL YOU SPIKE FANS - NOW IS THE PERFECT TIME TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THIS GREAT CHARACTER.

Thanks for the new poll, nmcil! Which characters did you guys vote for? I voted for Buffy, Xander, Cordelia, Anya, Angel, Wes, Fred, Spike, Topher, Adelle. Seems like Spike is the top hero... not that I'm surprised. ;)
Feb 21 2010 03:21 am   #21Niori
Voted:
Cordy- Her evolution is probably my favs in the series- she goes from the snobby cheerleader to messanger for the higher powers.
Anya- Again with the transformation- Season 3 she ran, but by season 7 she sacrfices herself for Andrew
Angel- You know, when he finally gets off his ass after 100 years of brooding and gets his own show (he's better in Angel than Buffy)
Dolye- Again with the sacrificing
Faith- Hero to bad guy to hero
Fred- she could have run after all that she went through in Pylea, but instead she chose to fight.
Andrew- Some more transformation (I have a thing for transformation lol)
The Potentials- Most of them annoy the hell out of me, but facing off against the First when they were just normal was brave
Spike- Duh

Oh, and come on guys, get to voting on the best couples thing- losing to Bangel is one thing (shudder worthy as it is, at least it's still BTVS), but losing to The OC??? That's just sickening.

Feb 21 2010 04:13 am   #22Ami
Voted...Spike, Buffy,Anya, Wes, Cordy,Doyle, Faith, Angel.:)

I've been voting my fingers off for Spike/Buffy..seemed to me like the Bangels were voting for Ryan/Marissa too, cause S/B went from up 15-16% to down 15% in less than a day. And B/A has been up 30-33% the whole time. Who knows? Didn't think the OC couple had so many fans .

Home sick... so I'm voting and reading Spuffy! :reading: And the difference now is 51-48 for Ryan/Marissa , so we're catching up. :)
Feb 21 2010 04:20 am   #23coalitiongirl
I don't know, earlier I opened something like forty windows and voted for Spuffy nonstop, and there wasn't a single change in the percentage. These things are always a bit rigged.

It's ridiculous how Bangels are voting against Spuffy. Are they so afraid that we'll beat them if we ever match up? We're all on the same side right now, right? (Okay, I voted against them a few times, too. But only after that absurd drop!)

Hey, does anyone know where the Bangels hang out online? I can't help but wonder if they're having a similar discussion in their forums... :D

The eonline poll is really ridiculous, I've been voting for Spuffy and the result didn't change from 49.1% for the longest time and now they went down to 48.6%. ..that's down .5% and the Bangels rose .5%.  So yeah obviously they're voting for the OC couple...it's really P****** me off. I guess they're TWU WUV 4EVA is pretty iffy if they can't win a poll without resorting to voting against Spuffy. :grr:
Feb 21 2010 08:53 pm   #27nmcil
It's one thing to vote for your favorite couple, or with the Buffyverse couples to vote either Bangel or Spuffy, but to actually vote for the opposition couple just to defeat Spuffy is so childish -

Feb 22 2010 04:20 am   #30The Enemy of Reality
Most of them are actually children. lol I saw this online petition some time ago- it was all some nonsense about how Spuffy is perverse and disgusting and shouldn't even be allowed to be shown on TV. Obviously, Bangel is the 'true love', all puppies and rainbows and what not (cradle robbing notwithstanding). I skimmed down the comments from those who signed it and surprise surprise, 80% (approximately) of them were teenagers. So, there you go. And hey, I'm a teenager (well, 19 anyway) too, but at least I'm mature enough not to hate on someone who ships a different couple. Though I feel a lot of disgust against the alleged Bangels that did that. lol One would think they'd rather vote for the BtVS couple... it's not like Spuffy and Bangel are against each other in that poll. Then again, can't say I'm surprised. *eye-roll*

Oh, found the petition, in case you'd like to read those comments... http://www.petitiononline.com/548241/petition.html
Feb 22 2010 04:36 am   #31TammyDevil666
It's pathetic, I was a child when I liked Bangel, but I got over it.  If they still think Buffy and Angel are true loves, they're living in a delusional world.  That's all there is to it.

When I first voted this morning Spuffy had 49.1%, I voted a good while and instead of going up they dropped down to like 48.6...I've voted on and off all day (since i'm sick and have nothing better to do.. lol) and all they have now is 48.8. I can't imagine all the voting the Bangels had to do to get them to 66% which is where they've been from the beginning. And Spuffy had been winning by like 15% for a long time too, until they all of a sudden dropped behind by 15%...that's a 30% difference. So I guess there were tons of Bangels voting for B/A and against S/B cause I really don't thinkthe OC couple has that large a fan base.

It is discouraging tho, but I'll keep voting anyway. I guess I'll be optimistic.:) The voting doesn't close until Wed. so let's keep voting.. Damn, I'm like a frigging cheerleader. lol  :spuffy:
Feb 22 2010 04:53 am   #33Niori
Ummm...the writer of that petition did realize that the almost rape happened before Spike's soul right? So saying that it was expressing the feelings of the ensouled vampire (paraphrase) kinda makes it look like they never watched the episode. Considering Spike got his soul a couple episodes later.

And when did the show ever show the rape as being 'funny'? I'm fairly certain the bathroom scene was never shown as funny. The season had some terrible and unfair double standards going on, but they treated Seeing Red as the horrible event that it was.

Thirdly, just with Bangel in general, how can you still be in love with someone when you've seen each other for all of a few hours in five years? Buffy and Angel are completely different people, who don't even share things anymore (Buffy doesn't know about Angel's SON for God's sakes- that's really, really keeping things). It seems to me that Bangel fans seem to think that Buffy and Angel will pick up right where they left off in season 3, but that's impossible. Buffy isn't a teenager anymore and Angel isn't the same vamp. Even if they did get back together (shudder), the realitionship would be completely different than the one they all imagine.

Word of advice to anyone who ever wants to make a petition- get your facts straight before you say something. Otherwise you look like an idoit. Oh, and making it one giant rant, not good either. Somone ranting as a petition kinda makes it lose it umph.

OMG LMAO!! I just read that petition, Ive never seen anything so pathetic in my life. And rant away Niori, cause they couldn't even get their facts straight. It's like they stopped watching Buffy in S3 and Buffy has to be 16 yrs old 4EVER. But then again most of them were children between 11 and 17.And a couple of men, who I guess just hate Spike cause he has such a huge fanbase. LOL,Still LMAO. They have no idea what life and love and relationships are like. And When the heck was the AR in Seeing Red shown to be funny? :sigh:But the funniest thing is that only 57 children..oops sorry..people have signed it. :)

Just went back to see who created it. Get this, some chick named Zahirrah Metcalf who is 12 YEARS OLD!! Still LMAO.OMG I think i need this...:drink: It's just too funny! This has made my whole night... And isn't it pathetic that some adults signed a petition by a 12 yr old?
Feb 22 2010 11:53 am   #35The Enemy of Reality
I'm with you on everything you said, Niori and Ami. I don't think those people even saw S6, because some people there actually stated that Spike raped Buffy... quotes: "Who would want to be with someone that has RAPED them?!", "I can never understand how easily Buffy forgave Spike for raping her.", "Can I just say...i agree...Spike was a disgusting, ruthless killer...and raping Buffy...what a disgusting thing to do", end quotes. It was an attempted rape and I think nobody felt worse about it than Spike, who redeemed himself by getting his soul back and his actions in S7. The issue has never been swept under the carpet like so many other things on the show and it definitely was not portrayed as funny.

As much as Buffy and Angel were in love when she was a teenager, as Niori said, they both changed. Angel has always been a leader, it is shown on AtS that he has serious problems following someone else (like Wes for example) and not taking charge. Buffy has also become a leader and I don't think she'd let Angel set the rules, just as much as he wouldn't sit back and let her take charge. Even if he somehow managed to get his soul anchored, I think their relationship wouldn't work out at that point in their life. Sure, you'll always love your first love, but you're not in love with them anymore. People change, they move on and I think they both did. I liked Angel with Cordy (of course they had to go and kill her off). She seemed to be the only person capable of taking him down a notch or two. lol

This got me... "SPUFFY IS DISGUSTED, stop it." LMAO If you're going to write a comment, in big letters at that, you better make sure your sentence actually make sense. :P But the grammar and spelling in those comments in general made me cringe, and Engish is not even my first language. Also, couldn't find any reasonable argument in there. It was pretty much just really amusing. Not surprised a 12 year old kid wrote the petition. LOL
Feb 22 2010 05:29 pm   #36TammyDevil666
I know, right?  Could not agree more, Enemy.  It just proves that they're immature kids, who didn't even bother to watch after the 3rd season, so they really shouldn't have an opinion about it.

Viewers who narrowed their perspective to "Buffy-Angel/Angelus" and "Buffy-Spike" as a romantic theme miss they much more interesting and significant thematic material - both relationship are so multi-layered.  Even the scene when Angel/Angelus is burned by the cross Buffy wears, is so rich in its symbolism, mythic and religious implication -

But before we call out the kids and teens on this, there are thousands of adults who are totally committed to this relationship - Buffy-Angel Forever is so much easier to accept in our culture - plus it has been legitimized by being compared to Romeo and Juliet, in the general public,  great star-crossed lovers in the western canon of literature.  Film and literature have hundreds of romantic couples that make Bangel the comfortable choice.  On the dark side and negative connection to romantic couples we have novels like Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre - both male characters having committed terrible actions from their love - and the most tragic of all lovers for me are Anna Karenina and Medea.  One woman from not understanding the real sacrifice and social dangers of her love and choices and the other woman for having all the sheer power and will to overcome even love of children from her love and relationship.

Taking all these back to the Buffyverse, I think that Spike fits more with the more traditional role of the woman who suffers from deep love in her life - conversely, he is also the huge beneficiary from having loved Buffy and the "mythic guide"  that she played in his life.

Hi,
I remember sometime ago was a poll on guardian.co.uk about TV shows majorly rigged towards Top Gear (90% or higher),  somewhere in the comments there was a link to a Top Gear forum in which a poster explained how him and his friends rigged that poll by some automatic script and he let his computer running the script too long. The way the percentage dropped in Spike/Buffy poll seems to indicate the scripts were running for a controlled period of time.
The geeks will do it just because they can or their girlfriends ask them to.

Feb 22 2010 11:32 pm   #39Ami
Anca, who knows what they did? Could be what you described or just a whole bunch of Bangels voting B/A and voting against Spuffy . They got B/A up to 66% and then just kept voting against Spuffy probably. And what happened to Juliet/Sawyer just shows that the poll is a big joke. They were up to 65% or so and now they only have 8%. Spuffy is now at 47% so it looks like they won't be able to catch up, unfortunately. :(  But karma is a bitch so it'll probably come back and bite them in the butt in the next rounds.
Feb 23 2010 07:27 am   #40nmcil
Something is really wrong with the results from this poll - based on number of viewers alone - LOST has millions of viewers, and Sawyer is probably one of the most popular male characters in all of television right now - After Juliet dying on the series and her sacrifice the couple got a huge boost from the fans.  I find it hard to believe that they would be getting less viewer support than Buffy and Angel/Angelus and especially since this is a poll for all of television and on a fairly popular site -

Not only so little support, but it's up against a Community pairing- and that show has such a tiny fanbase, and that couple isn't that popular in the fanbase. I think it's safe to assume that the Sawyer/Kate fans are sabotaging Sawyer/Juliet... lol, there is another fandom with as bitter rivalries between pairings as ours. :D

Buffy and Spike  lost but we can all still support Tara and Willow if you want to help support the Whedonverse at this poll -  I will personally never support BA Forever but that is still an option for you - Here is the next round   I would like to know in what world Willow and Tara come out as more popular as a couple than Buffy and Spike and how one of the most popular men of all television, Sawyer from LOST, gets eliminated.  What happened to all the Spike and Buffy fans?

I voted for Willow/Tara even tho I'm not crazy about Willow and also Logan/Veronica cause I loved that ship and that show. :) I will NEVER vote B/A. Alot of people think sawyer/kate and sawyer/juliet were sabotaged and spammed against ,like Buffy/Spike.Remember Spuffy was ahead for a long time and then in a matter of hours they lost their lead and the OC couple gained 15%. I know that some numbers were ridiculous and I will never believe that Ryan/Marissa has more fans than Spuffy. No way. And if you look at the new poll Ryan/Marissa is way behind. Where are all their fans now? :right:

While Spike and Buffy were eliminated we can still show our support in the next few days for Spike or Buffy in the Top 10 Whedonverse Heroes -  It would be great to have Spike come out on top of this after the Favorite TV Couples -

http://newicue.com/2010/02/the-search-for-the-greatest-whedon-heroes-continues/

A few days ago we compiled a list of our favorite or Top 10 Joss Whedon Heroes. We left off Buffy. This was intentional but has brought upon us the wrath of Whedonites from all over. (ok that’s exaggerating a little bit) While we stand by our choices, this has left me curious. What is the “popular” Top 10 for this category? Well that’s where you come in. Lets take a week and explore what everyone out there in the ether thinks. Choose YOUR favorites and if you feel like taking the time comment on the bottom of this article about your top choice and why. Id like to get a real feel for what you all think, and make the list that truly reflects the attitude of the most amount of FANS out there as possible. Write in anything we might have left off. They will
be tallied!

Nope, they're actually in round four now, and all BtVS couples have been eliminated. :(

Here are the current contenders:

Game 1.1
  •  House & Cuddy, House
  •  Jim & Pam, The Office
Game 1.2
  •  Luke & Lorelai, Gilmore Girls
  •  Mulder & Scully, The X-Files
Game 2.1
  •  Chuck & Sarah, Chuck
  •  Callie & Arizona, Grey's Anatomy
Game 2.2
  •  Ross & Rachel, Friends
  •  Jack & Kate, Lost

I'm betting Mulder and Scully take it.

Thanks for the update - the link took me an older round -  Mulder and Scully still in the running - that is so neat, it has been such a long time since the series.  I don't know any of the   remaining couples other than Jack & Kate and Mulder and Scully - that is the couple I will vote for -
