WIP's Now

Mar 16 2010 09:20 pm   #1nmcil

Thought it might be nice to have a thread for stories that are current WIPS -  PLEASE post your recommends on works you are especially connecting with  from the latest WIP =

I would like to recommend "Strangers"  - I like that it is incorporating the Season Eight time-line and is a very good examination of a potential Buffy-Xander-Baby but with very ominous implications for her character and how having a child is effecting all of them.  I think it is an excellent story  - hope you will check it out.

Aw, that's the fic I wanted to rec, Nmcil! :D

So to clarify- is this a WIP rec thread, or a discussion forum for WIPs? I've always wanted one of those...

Can't think of any WIP I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for updates for now that pffieferpack finished up her time travel story.   Niamh appears to be close to the end of Origins: Resolutions too.  When she's done, I won't have any WIP that I am following closely.  Well, except my own, LOL.

coalitiongirl - think we can make this a recommends active WIP's - I'm not sure that this site has or would like to have discussions on specific works -

Can  the title for Pfeiefferpak"s newly completed work be posted - thanks

What I am trying to do with this thread and recommends is create more readers for the latest works being created.

Older WIP's can also be recommended - their are some excellent works that are very long and are being completed on a regular basis -

Don't think we want any works that have not been updated for a long time -  but that is only my take on the subject.  What I am trying to do is encourage all active writers to continue their work on behalf of the Spuffy fans.

Since Lilachigh recently finished her We Will remember Them, the only wip that I can think of that I'm following, not counting fics I beta, is Holly's The Writing on the Wall. (Please bear in mind that I have a memory like a bucket with a REALLY big hole in it, so there could easily be other wips I've been following and I just can't currently remember. LOL)

Opps, my mistake.  Lilachigh's story, not Pfeieferpak.  I always get them mixed up.  I think because I started reading both of their stories around the same time.  Sorry.

*nods* We Will Remember Them* - now completed. Lilac's other fic, Business As Usual (Remember Agnes?) and yes, Holly's WotW which I'm hoping she will update soon.  What else? I think I have a few on LJ that I'm following - Angearia's Season Eight set fic, for one. I'm sure I'm forgetting someone important.

I don't think the site (we?) have a problem with recommending fics.  I think it would be safer to steer away from actual discussions of fics. It's difficult to do that without some sort of comment sneaking into the conversation that could be misinterpreted or that could be correctly interpreted as a criticism of some aspect of it.  And that way lies badness...

*hides* I'm getting there, Kat!  lol Just ask Patti.

Sand is almost finished, then I'm pulling Duty down and reworking it (which will hopefully clear up the problem I've got) and then I'll be able to finish it.

Hmmm...which reminds me... shouldn't there be another Alone-verse installment in the works?

Aw, thanks, guys! I really appreciate it :D It does help the muse, and now I feel the desire to finish more chapters of the sequel.

I'd like to rec Emmie's Thought You Should Know (also S8 fic and very epic with wonderful character-voices)

And Coalitiongirl's The Rose. It's got a great setting, and interesting character dynamic. I read very few AUs, but when one is so wonderfully written and with the characters being so recognizable, I don't mind at all. I want a new chapter NOW!!!

Heh. Well, whadaya know... I think I've actually gotten over my title issues. Yeah, I'm anal that way. I've a general idea for the first one, which is what the prologue is about. The second? Hmm...

But, there's also Clayton's story. Never mind the two Spuffy WIPs I already have. (And please shoot me because I signed up for seasonal Spuffy too. *facepalm*)

Another WIP I'd like to see updated (or if I can fanagle a more advanced reading): Slayme's "Human A/U" Normal Is Just a Word.

Thanks for all the recommends - think I was inspired by seeing some of the excellent writers taking up their works again -  I just think that it is important to recognize the writers and their efforts.  I know how difficult it can become at times when you feel like all your work is being done for an audience of one.

I want to add Lost Boy's WIP to the list - Hope he will update again soon.

Hee, Kat.  It's been reworked a good bit since you saw it - and I don't remember how much I had done then.  But you're welcome to see it again if you want.  C's taking peeks (and making me work harder - lol)
I'd volunteer to shoot you, but I want to see what you'll do for Seasonal Spuffy. *g*

Thanks for the rec, Sosa Lola! :D

I looked through the fics I'm currently following- most have already been mentioned, but I'd also like to rec "Rebirth" by elfin_miss- Fanged Four Spuffy, and a nice mix of dark and fluff. Oh, and I'm following "A Twisted Perspective" by Emmalinell on Livejournal- again, Fanged Four Spuffy (noticing a trend here? :D), and that's a particularly interesting rewrite of the series because her Buffy has grown up with the vampires in an almost family setting.
