Favorites List

Dec 05 2011 03:50 pm   #1ginar369
I would love to see a way to read a story on my favorites list without having to do a search for the story. As it is right now the favorites list is more of a way to make sure you get emailed when updates are added to a story.

I (and I am sure others do the same) like to re-read the stories on my favorite list. There are occassions when I know the plot of the story I wanted to read but I can't remember the name. So I have to look thru my favorite list and then in another tab do a search for the story to read the summary. It is very time consuming.

Is there a way to have a list that shows the title, the summary and also allows you to click on the title name and have it be a link to the story?

I dunno. Let's hope Dia sees this. She is the "make it happen" person around here. If there's a way, she'll know it, or she'll put it into the next script update.  If you don't see a response from her on this thread after a while, you could try e mailing her about it.

Thanks for the reply, I will keep your advice in mind.

The other day I was looking for a story I had read a while ago. I am sure I read it here but I couldn't remember the name and I knew it was on my favorite list. It took me over an hour to find it. I wound up writing down the title of every story on my favorite list, then doing a search for each story and reading the summary until I found it. There has to be an easier way. I mean with so many great stories on this site and others you forget the title to a story once in awhile even when you remember the plot.

There is a forum thread for locating fics. Especially if it's one that's posted on here, someone almost always knows the title or author. Might be less trouble than searching yourself.  Totally sympathetic, BTW. I'm famous for not remembering titles and/or authors of fics. Usually all I can do is flail around saying "oooh, oooh, I read that!"  LOL

Then there are the times when you are pretty sure you have read it and realize that you haven't! Ugh too many great stories! It really gets hard to keep track of them. :)

That lists all the stories, maybe in alphabetical order? With summaries? And a link to the story. That would be great! Or even listing them by category.Ugh I don't know, but there just has to be a way to find stories easier. Maybe expand the search options?

Would it be possible to add "Most Favorited" to the TopTen?

That, I suspect, would be easily done - although wouldn't some of the categories on there already mean that? Like "most read" or "most reviews"? I think what everyone is asking for is a way to spot their own favorites, not someone else's.

Actually, ignore me! I was looking for others' favorites, but I just found "Fiction Recommendations," which is what I really needed. Yay! *bounces in chair*
