Looking for Fic With 1977 Spike

Oct 31 2013 03:05 am   #1Magtwysera
Because have you seen this site's banner? 1977 was a good look for Spike, dang.

So yeah, looking for 1977!Spike/Buffy, don't care if it's through time-travel or AU but want Spike to still be a vampire, regardless.

No link for the banner?

I think she means the BSV's banner. One of the skins has punk Spike, I think.  Not the one I use, but I'm sure I remember seeing it.

ETA  Yep - it's the whitenblack skin.

that is the skin that always shows up when I have problems with my account or logging in - it's a very nice banner but I like the Spuffy Kissing blue one for my own use.   But Punk Spike - totally a great look and a great Evil Spike phase look.

There IS a fanfic out there with 1977 Spike which I read but can't remember the title.  Buffy is transported back to 1977 in a time travel tale.

I'm looking for Time Travel stories as well and I need some advice on how to use our Search feature.  I entered "time travel" in the search look for in "summary" but I get all kinds of stories.  What is the best way to "search" for time travel stories here?

Go to "Search" in the menu on the left side, under search go to the box that says "genre". Find Time-travel in the drop down menu and click on it.  The time travel fics on here should come up. It worked for me just now, although I have no way of knowing if all the time-travel fics on the BSV are on there because I have no idea how the program locates them.  But there should be enough to keep you busy for a while. :)

Thanks Loads -

I did go back and look at the rather short list, and it doesn't seem to be complete, so whatever the system is that grabs them (maybe based on the genre indicated by author?), it doesn't get them all.

I know that this category would normally show a lot more stories - I wish that the search by "word" in "summary" would work because this description would always show up in how the writer would describe their story.  Any story that invovled a travel in time would be mentioned even if the story is considered an "alternative reality."

It's up to the writer to give their works a good summary/description and using a category/genre and pairings, IMO, is something that should be required from the archive sites.  I suspect that most readers have particular likes or would be looking for a spcific type of story when they use the search at any of the fanfiction sites.

I will go back and try the "alternative reality" in the summary and see what I get -  thanks much for checking this out for me.

I tried putting "time" into the "find word in summary" and got some time-travel fics, but also some that were not and just had the word "time" in the summary somewhere. Putting time travel (no hyphen) I think I got the same fics - again some are not time travel.

ETA: I tried to make changes to the summary and/or category of one of my fics and I found that, which having the word "time" in the summary made it show up in that kind of search, the "genre" menu only allows for one pick. So, the only way I could have made the fic show up on time-travel search would have been to change the genre from "Challenge" to "Time-travel". I can't show both.  I suspect that is why so few show up on the genre list - there are so many other options for an author to chose to emphasize, and you can only pick one.

I know that this is not particularly on-topic but it does relate in that Just Rewards Site is often mentioned as an old archive that had some outstanding writers - I tried finding it on The Way Back Machine last night and all I get is a notice that "the account has been suspended" - I'm confused because I thought that TWBM was not based on "active accounts or web sites".

Anyone have any current information of the Just Rewards site - I was reading a lot of works and like the site very much even reading on TWBM.  I would hate to learn that we have lost yet another archive.

Just Rewards was a great site because it had two criteria for being on there: A story had to be an award winner (I think it had to win at their site, but I could be wrong about that) and/or the author had to have had enough award-winning fics on the site to be considered an author who could post new fics without having to have won awards with them.  The result was a collection of quality fic.   I have seen/heard somewhere recently that the site had been shut down.  The owner has long since moved on with her very busy academic life and not been a part of the JW. I don't know what's going one with the people who were helping her with the archive, but I'm guessing that their lives have also had sufficient changes that they can no longer keep up with it.  Since someone has to pay the bills, they may have taken it down, closed the accout, or just allowed it to lapse.  However, because of the original criteria for being on that archive, almost all of those fics should be available elsewhere.  The awards came before the archive, so the stories had to available somewhere else first.  I suppose there may be some later stories that were posted only to that archive by authors with posting permission, but I doubt it.

Perhaps one of the mods will see this and give us more definitive answers.

@nmcil here's a link on Wayback for Just Rewards that works for me..http://web.archive.org/web/20130325051718/http://www.athenewolfe.com/justrewards/index.php  :)

Thank you both for the new info on Just Rewards - hope I don't have any problems with this link.   Is there another archive that had only award winners that you know of?  I sure wish that I knew enough about how to create and run a fanfiction site becuase I would love to have one devoted to the best and classic early writers and works for Spuffy and maybe even some other pairings but these would be limited with Spuffy  works as the primary works.

Good - the link works fine.

can anyone help me with this one - it's the story when Spike and Giles pretend that he is a relative visiting from England and Spike acts like to total goofy wimpy nerd for Riley and his Initiative friends.

Sorry to post this here - but it sorta does fit and I know that someone will respond -

Any idea if the missing chapters for Ariel Dawn's Love, Keyness and Impending Marriage can be posted here.  I know the story is completed over at her site.  This link starts the ending sequence there:  http://www.frozenbloodsicles.com/fics/lkim/love25.html

That would be entirely up to the author. If you're asking if someone else can copy/paste those chapters here onto her story -  no, that wouldn't be possible or fair to the author.

*shrugs* We have access to the same info you do. She lists a lot of contact info on her author's page here. I've no idea if they are still viable. Suggest you contact her and ask.  We don't keep track of which authors have incomplete stories, nor do we have the time to bug them about it if/when it's brought to our attention. If she's completed it elsewhere, she may just not want to bother, but if a fan contacts her about it, who knows? Maybe she'll take the time to complete it on this site. Sorry I can't be more helpful than that.

Hope someone can help.

Anyone remember and have info on this story I read it several years ago.  Primarily what I remember is that Spike saved, I think it was some fey from death and years later they meet up with him.  The story features a section where the fey do what is described as a spirit or soul song about and for Spike.  It was such a lovely idea and I would very much like to read it again.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

After all the Shipper Much going on with the SMG - Love Bangel, I'm needing some Spuffy and Spike love.
