Lucky Santangelo- the Anti Mary Sue

Well, in another thread, I questioned Anita Blake, and have become increasingly disturbed the way her character evolves... So, I thought I'd introduce a new character for all you readers out there, in case you get bored.  Jackie Collins' Lucky Santangelo kicks ass- though it isn't a fantasy series, it's still amazing, and I'm terribly addicted (to JC's work in general, actually).

I'd reccommend one start with "Chances" (which really revolves around her father and some other people, but awesome all the same) or "Lucky," if you want to get to the meat of the heroine's story.  All of it is just fantabulous, and I eagerly await her latest installment to the series coming out this April (I think).  There's five thus far, and I read them all within two weeks, non stop.

Jackie Collins is a good writer and I have enjoyed some of her books in the past.  I remember reading "Chances" years ago; don't recall if I read "Lucky" or not.  She spends a bit too much time on the name-brand clothes to suit me - but that is fairly typical of the genre and expected, I guess.  However, her stories are always page turners and always contain some surprises, so they are fun to read.  And, at least her heroines come across as real people - if better looking ones than what we might see when we look in the mirror. LOL

No kidding.  The last book (or two) of hers seems to be devoted to giving readers a how to manual on keeping multiple lovers on a string.  It must be some personal fantasy of hers (I hope it's a fantasy.)  It's just so - yuck.  Also, her vampire is such a nancy boy with those slimy clothes she's always describing.  Ewww.

If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who?

Slaymesoftly- yea, it's all apart of the whole Hollywood scene.  However, Lucky is just such a strong female character, and I <3 her so much :D

Spikez_tart- I don't know what to say about LKH downward spiral- surely some of her fans have complained about the drastic changes, right? I hope so.
