Hi :wave: new writer here, I have started a couple of fics, but haven't really thought any of them up to scratch until now... I have the first few chapters of a fic that I want to post, so now I am looking for a beta! I'm not sure if I need help with much... IMO I'm pretty good at spelling and grammar, can't help the odd typo or two, but generally that stuff is ok. And I've got a lot of my plot mapped out, I basically want someone with an objective mind to read over it and give me their honest, unbiased opinion, and tell me whether it's worthy of the BSV, or only worth of my trashcan... lol :P so if you're interested in helping me out, please let me know!! :)

Hey, Katie, Not sure I want to volunteer to beta for anyone else, but I'll be happy to take alook at a couple of chapters and let you know how it looks to me.  If all you need is typo help, we should be able to find you someone (or, very small voice, I might offer to do it until you find someone else.) You might also check the beta list at Riters_R_Us.

Can't promise anything but you can send it my way as well. I can read over it. Grammar and all that stuff is not my strong though.

Hi Dream = I just took on another writer, but I have this advice for really fast improvement:  The Key, by James Frey and Immediate Fiction by Jerry somebody, I think.  Also, James Frey has two books - How to Write a Damn Good Novel I and II.  If my other writer doesn't work out, I'll let you know.

If all you need is just a good look-over-er, and fixing the occasional typo, I could take it on, love, if you need me to...looks like you've got quite a few offers, though :)

well, I write a bunch of kind for fun, but the one I'm working on to post is a crossover. It's called Harry Potter and the Vampire Slayer. I thought it'd be fun to toy around with. This is what I have in my disclaimer:

Summary: Giles, Buffy, and Spike travel to England to help Hogwarts and Buffy and Spike become allies of Harry Potter and his friends.

A/N: I named the story "Harry Potter and the Vampire Slayer" for the sake that it takes place during the fifth book "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", but the heart of the story is for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series.

Also, for the sake of the fanfiction, even though the timelines don't match up, we'll say that the midnight of the Thanksgiving episode, "Pangs", is after Chapter Twenty-One in the book "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", page 451, after Hagrid's lesson that Professor Umbridge examined (simply because it's before December and Thanksgiving isn't mentioned in the Harry Potter books because it's an American holiday).

hmmm....sounds interesting but i'm not personally into Harry Potter enough to want to do it....I'm sure someone will though :)

Okay, there was no point in starting a new thread, when we have this one and I want to ask you for the same thing YourMyDream did. 

I've got a problem, 'cos I've lost contact with my Beta. I don't know if she's gone away, doesn't want to keep in touch with me any more or has no access  to the Internet... The thing is, I started publishing my story "Insight" you might have read and I can't go on without a Beta. The chapters so need to be checked, 'cos (and I might have already mentioned that somewhere else) English is a foreign language for me and I can't risk publishing something with lots of mistakes...

I'd like to ask if there's anybody willing to help me. It may be just a temporary job. It may become more serious collaboration as well. Anyway, I'll be really grateful for your help.

So, anybody? Please?

That was my thinking, Spikez_tart. I hate to bug Dia when she's obviously still busy with RL stuff, but an updated beta list would be good. Maybe we can just start a thread where anyone who is willing to beta can make an entry ? Just to tide us over until Dia has time to put up the fancy beta form? What do you think guys? Would that work?

I am writing my first Spuffy fic and was hoping to find a kind soul on these boards who is willing to beta it for me. I anticipate needing help with regards to plot points/structure the most. I sometimes tend to lose the forest for the trees and would appreciate someone keeping me on track. I am also not well-versed with Buffyspeak, so help on that front would also be required. The fic is a challenge response and I already have an outline. Thus far I have written the prologue and plan on finishing chapter one next week.

Another thing you might consider is browsing the beta list at the BTVS Writers Guild. It's specific about what the beta's will and won't beta, and their preferences. Also, check out any other potential archives you want to post it at, they usually have a beta list.
