BSV Forum - Writing - Resources I need some help The word fiance, meaning the preson you're going to marry, has a mark over the e. Can anyone tell me how to make my keyboard do that? it is the key on the left side of the back space (at least on my keyboard...) hit it before the e and you should have your é
edit: maybe I should have looked it up before... there are like a gazillion different keyboard layouts, so it'll probably help you more if you just take a look here : ) May 29 2007 03:14 am #3slaymesoftly Sometimes I can make that key work, and sometimes I can't (mine is in the upper lefthand corner of the keyboard). I often just type the word and ask spell check which gives me a choice to click on. LOL I am not a minion of Evil... I am upper management. Well, using the one by the backspace gives me fiance' and the one at upper left of the keyboard (next to the 1) gives me fiance`. I don't have a spell check and the one I've found online says it's spelled right. May 29 2007 03:41 am #5slaymesoftly According to the site deedo linked to, you hit the accent key first, then hit the letter you want to accent. That probably explains why I sometimes can make it work and sometimes not. lol finac`e - that's what happens when I do it their way. hmmm Not much of an improvement. *runs back to reread instructions* Got it! It said on some keyboard you have to click on alt with the aceent. That seems to work for me - finacè Ha! I am not a minion of Evil... I am upper management. *pets her german keyboard* You should see what people do to my name somtimes, it hast two é in it :D the only other option I could think of is using ascii - hold the ALT key and then type 130 (or 0233, it usually works with both) on the number block, that should get you an é as well ~ full table or just save it somewhere and copy/paste when you need it :D
PS: Patti you have the wrong accent, that way it is a silent e, but you have it on top of the e, so go you : ) May 29 2007 04:14 am #7slaymesoftly Well, that's what it gave me with at alt key - I'll have to play with it a bit, I guess to come up with the right thing. Thanks for all the info, deedo - I may post some of those links on RRU. :) I am not a minion of Evil... I am upper management. No problem. Sometimes I feel like I'm all filled up with random and often rather useless info : ) Omg, Mary, did I just see another two updates?? On top of the two new stories you posted earlier today?? *squee* I was actually about to head off to bed, seeing as it is 4:23 am already, but now... *bounces off to read* ♥ YES, deedo, Thank you sooooo much. I lurve you!!!! That website did it for me. You are the bestest. Yes, it was update day. Hope you enjoy them! Also, relating to the word - fiance is for the male, and fiancee is female. Just to be technical. What If I'm Not the Slayer? now updated with chapters 22 and 23. Jun 01 2007 03:05 am #12Spikez_tart MP if you have Word, it will automatically add the accent. Or you can position your cursor, then go to Insert-symbol and pick out the accent. And, where have you been hiding? If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who? I have Word now. Boy, is it great for spelling. Sucks for grammer sometimes though. Jul 01 2009 04:20 am #14Spikez_tart Sucks for grammer sometimes though. Sad but true. It never gets its/it's right. If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who? Hehe, that one is hard for me, let alone for Word. I still think it should be 'it's spike is broke', just like 'Buffy's Spike is broke'. *shrugs* Darned English language and all of its confusing rules. | |||
