Something Blue

I was watching Something Blue the other day, and it struck me as sort of foreshadowing that Buffy and Spike fell in love when they were under the spell. Theoretically, they didn't have to. Not all marriages were about love. Most, back in Spike's human days, were about convenience or money or social standing. Just wondering other people's thoughts.

I agree. Willow was very specific about "marrying" not about "Loving".. she didn't say 'Why does she just go love him then' she says 'why doesn't she just go marry him' no love was spoken. They could have just wanted to marry each other and still hate each other (IMO, that would have been funny) but nothing was said about Love... they must have had those feelings buried somehow for them to come out.

Spike: You're the one, Buffy

Buffy: I don't want to be the one.

Spike: I don't want to be this good looking and athletic. We all have crosses to bear.

That's a pretty common theme in Something Blue fics - that they were only supposed to get married, not fall in love.  It makes a great taking off point for early Spuffiness. :)

People who know me... or at least read my fics *whistles innocently* know that I'm of the side that they were all smitten with each other from the moment they met *bats eyes* love/lust at first sight, lol

Unfortunately, we had big vampires in the next room, and I didn't think they'd wait while we had hot monkey sex. ~Cerulean Sins :: (Anita to Jean-Claude)“Is there anything your bloodline does that doesn’t involve getting naked?" ~Danse Macabre :: I’m dating three men, living with two more, and having occasional sex with two others. That’s seven men. I’m like a pornographic Snow White. I think seven is plenty. ~Danse Macabre

I think they were already interested in each other before the spell.  The scene where Buffy is giving Spike his blood while he's chained in the bathtub and then holds her neck out for him to bite is pure Beatrice/Benedict.

If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who?

*pounces Tart* That's my fave Shakespeare play and yet I just now saw how Beatrice/Benedict that Buffy and Spike are *grins*

Joss W is the biggest thief ever - whatever literary reference you like best, you can be sure to find it.  My fave is Beauty and the Beast - and that describes Spuffy to the T.
