Was it Magic?

Jul 27 2007 02:32 am   #1Spikez_tart

In Smashed, Spike calls Buffy on a pay phone and he's wearing a silver chain around his neck in a very manly way.  (I checked some of the previous episodes and this is the first time he wears it.)  That evening, he hunts Buffy down in the alley and Spuffy ensues.  He continues to wear the chain in every scene until Buffy shows up at his crypt in As You Were.  The chain is gone and Riley shows up and succeeds in breaking them up.

What do you think?  Was it a magic love chain?

LOL - the only time I noticed it was in a re-watch of Older and Far Away because I was writing a fic about that epi and needed to know what the two of them were wearing.  That's very observant, tart.  I wonder if it did mean something?  If not to us, to somebody on the show? An inside joke or something.

Probably, but I feel a fic coming on.  Somebody save me from myself.

rofl, the magic pimp love chain, 'cause there has to be the word pimp some place. Go for it write the fic. Oh, and I didn't get back with you on the e-mail but to answer your question, for me to lighten the face I'd have to redo the whole banner. I tried to do it without redoing the whole thing but I can't. *pouts* So let me know what you want me to do.

I've heard that a lot of Spike's jewelry was James'....he's been wearing silver chains and rings for years.

I'd believe that, CM... James does seem to have a taste for pimp jewelry. The weird thing is, I can't really remember Spike wearing any jewelry (except for the skull "engagement ring" from Something Blue)... and then suddenly the pimp chain and the rings appeared in season 6. I'm thinking Spikez_tart is onto something with that theory.

Golden Buffy - Oh yeah - pimp definitely figures.  I'm seeing an Anya and pimp combo. Don't worry about the banner - it's awesome.  I may actually have to finish the first chapter this week end so I can post and show it off.  The rest of you writers - prepare to writhe in envy.

And, what happened to that damn skull ring? Did Buffy ever give it back?  Fanon says no.

The show never address the fate of the skull ring.  Spike doesn't ask for it back in canon, so maybe he did get it back.  I like to think that Buffy kept it, though :-)

Pimp chain!  Personally, I don't usually like men in jewelry.  Very few of them can pull it off, but I kinda liked Spike's pimp chain, especially when he had his shirt unbuttoned and it was dangling down...

I did notice James' neck jewelry in the pictures of the recent NJ concert (still not bitter that RL got in the way of my going), and I was like, "What's with the bling?!?"  But that didn't stop me from drooling at the pictures.  Of course, all of this could be the fact that I'd drool at him dressed in a yeti costume,  clipping his toenails while watching paint dry :-P

Give me Spuffy, or give me death.

some light jewelry is okay... and as long they're not monkey-haired Italians so that the chain gets all caught *shudders* And no offense to Italians since some of you already know my daddy is Italian (and no, he's not the hot Antonio Sabato Jr type Italian.... *sigh* though my mom obviously thinks so)

Now, I just need pics of James with hot tats *drools* I like those in manips

I think it might've been a "feelin' sexy" kinda chain.  He also seems to wear or have a lot of button downs while they're seeing each other.

And Spike's not a big fan of magic, and I don't see him trying to manipulate her in such a way (hence "Entropy"), so I'm gonna have to vote no.

That's because they rip open easier. ;)

Ahh... flashback to "Gone" over here, lol.

I liked the royal blue one, personally...

Oooo, the black paisley :sighs wistfully: I do like him in blue, though.  It brings out his eyes.  But again, doesn't matter: yeti costume, toenails, drying paint.

And Spike's not a big fan of magic,

So he says, but he helps Dawn bring back her mother, bad idea, and when he can't stand not having Buffy around any more as his lover, he heads right for the Magic Box for "something."  He lets Giles but that bug thing in his eye, too.  He may not like it, but sometimes he lets it happen.  I'm thinking, in order to clarify Buffy's scatterbrained thinking, maybe he'd go for it.

But love makes you do stupid things. he loved Dawn and helping her try to bring Joyce back I think was done out of well love. Plus he loved Joyce too, Im sure he would have been thrilled to have her back, someone who supported him other than Dawn. And Buffy, well we know what he thought of her and again done things out of love. Poor vamp.

Nah, Spike wouldn't bewitch Buffy- that was Xander's deal, lol ;)

Maybe not betwitch her exactly - maybe just a little glamour to make him look better or more trustworthy to her?  (Like he could look any hotter.)

Yes he can look hotter- when he's sans clothing, lol. No I take that back, he can do something as simple as a head tilt and look hotter...  But that's not the point...hmm, the only thing about that is (even though action indicated otherwise) she claimed to not trust him, which was ridiculous and stupid for oh, so many reasons I will not get into right now.  And he's not wearing it in "As You Were" until the last scene when she dumps him, so what does that mean?

And checking some screen caps, I think the some of the chains were different- or at least they seem that way. Now I'm all intrigued.  Can anyone tell for sure?

He takes it off when she comes by for Booty Call after being Rilied and the spell is broken.  He puts it back on, but it's too too late.

The chains all looked the same to me.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
