Ok, so recently I've started getting bored with BtVS fic and thought I'd see what else is out there. One of the things in the more recent past that I truly enjoyed were the PotC movies, so I was hoping there might be some decent fic for that. Well, there might be, but apperantly not on the Pit - and yes, I know that was a long shot anyway.

Before I get even more frustrated I thought I'd ask if anyone has some good recs for me. Don't really care about the ship, though I do tend to prefer het (won't say no to slash though). Preferably no OCs, but especially no time-traveling Mary Sue's, I see enough of those on the Pit. ;-) Otherwise, well, you'll know what can be considered a good fic and what not (IC, well writen, ...).

What? I've been reading B/S fics since 2000, I have no other hobbies and I'm allowed to read fics at work. If a fic is B/S, decently written and IC, chances are I've read it. There are only so many plots you can write, after seven years of doing noting but reading fics, finding new twists becomes very, VERY rare. Not saying the new fics are the same as older ones, but the character reactions and sub-plots have most likely been used before, even if it was in a different setting. It's only natural, because all those stories are about the same characters, which restricts the writers. I don't plan to leave the fandom or anything silly like that, I just need some variation. :lol:

Thanks for the links btw, crossover fics weren't exactly what I was looking for, but I'll take a look at them when I run out of non-crossover ones. ;-)

Oh, if anyone else is interested in PotC fic, I found something good. One of the few authors who manages not to turn the characters too serious (yes, I'm aware that funny is difficult). Here - Dry Norrington, forcefull Elizabeth and crazy Jack, it's hillarious.

I think I might have put this badly. I really don't mean no one comes up with new ideas anymore, just... Ok, lets try this: I really like ice-cream, I mean really. And there are so many different flavors, you can have just one kind or any of thousands of possible combinations. You can put souce on it, or fruit, or nuts, or sprinkles, the possibilities are endless. But after eating some every half an hour for seven years straight, I don't care if someone creates a completely new flavor, it'll still be ice-cream and I want some damn cake for a change. Doesn't mean the new flavor isn't good, or that I won't try it anyway, I just want that cake first.

Don't worry, I got that. Just wanted to explain where I was coming from. :-) And yes, I've read several. Not good with remembering titles (only content), so I'm not sure if that one was among them.

I agree with you Dia, i didnt take to crossovers until a cupple of months ago when i just couldnt do the spuffy on a fulltime basis anymore, therse only so many scenarios and i guess these days i tend to keep to Authors more and more, unless i run into something that feels fresh. Most fulfilling except spuffy these days to me tends to be Xovers with LoTR and many times fics without "romps" simply just because i have no idea, yet again i think it is the author in question, i find one with a language that flows in a way that speaks to me. Ive too been reading fics since around 2000-2001 im glad i dont spend all day everyday at it anymore :D Ill check out that PoTC fic
