Yes he'd worry especially about all the things he won't be able to do as a daddy but every family is different and lots of fathers "work" at night and aren't up in the daylight with the kids.

Lovely update. Glad you had Xander marry Anya. ... I always hated how he did that to her (doing it AND the way he did it).

Six Weeks

They are such a sweet couple. Their worries are what normal people have and then add the Council and Powers to the mix and they have reason to worry (although I suspect a perfect baby from this).

Dana is quite intelligent....she intuits that the Council might not approve of Buffy and Spike and that could be bad in many ways depending on who she winds up trusting more. I don't know if I like that doctor or not to tell you the truth.

Will be interested to know why Hank didn't at least call. I had thought he was wanting a relationship with Buffy and Dawn and this doesn't seem like the actions of a man wanting that. I'm kind of worried about him actually.

“Look, Buffy. He made you a sack lunch" LOL! This is actually quite a revealing quip by Xander....he's actually treating Spike just as he would ANY guy she was with.....the teasing is not malicious. YAY Xander, you are coming around nicely.

Truth or dare with "special evil" bottle for Buffy was brilliant. How cute to keep up his reputation yet protect his unborn child and his love? Nicely played Spike.

For once Buffy had a lovely birthday and I am happy for her.

Awww, I loved this chapter! The birthday party was great! Having Spike and the Scoobies play Truth or Dare was genius. Poor Spike having to admit that he died a virgin! lol

And I have to admit, my favorite part of this chapter's sexified ending was when Spike listened to the baby's heartbeat. I think the image of him resting his head on Buffy's belly and listening to the baby is so very sweet!

Oh dear....Buffy's birthdays never go well and with the new Council fella in town....... Yikes!

Meant to comment on the last few chapters (and I want to reread them S l o w l y this time LOL). I haven't had a lot of online time and kinda rushed. I love the turn of this tale. I have a kink for babyfic when it makes sense in the plot and this does. I can just imagine Spike as a daddy all too well.

I'm worried about Dana. I have a hard time trusting the Council at all and this time is no different. Poor thing has been through enough without complications.

Xander is doing so much better where Buffy's love life is concerned and I am delighted you brought in Wes for his expertise (ahem...Connor!). Nicely done.

Birthday Plans

Not good, but I had a feeling that's what was wrong. She'll probably be in denial for a while, until she realizes that she is in fact pregnant, then hopefully she'll tell Spike and the others. I'm worried about their reactions, though, especially Spike's. I was planning on making Buffy pregnant in the story I'm working on now, but I always worry about doing that when Spike is a vampire. It's nice to know that others have done it, too.

Hooray! I love updates! I'm really intrigued with Dana, and can't wait for where that story is headed. I was afraid that Buffy's body was rejecting the claim and that her and Spike would have to get a 'divorce' and then Spike would feel...well...I can imagine a whole scenario with him! My other guess was that Buffy was getting headaches and fainting was because she was mystically pregnant...Anyway, I hope YOU are feeling better and that more wonderful updates are soon to come!

I'm actually feeling worse right now, but I don't think it's the problem that it was before. I'm just drinking lots of O.J. taking some pain killers, and resting...a LOT. The plus side? My Buffy marathon is going fast. I've gotten through 3.5 seasons in just under 2 weeks. Haha...:)

Xander is so thick skulled. I am glad Anya is not taking his nonsense in this story. I have to wonder how sincere he will be at this point. I think he is only sorry that Anya is angry with him and gave his ring back to him. I'm not sure what it will take. I also can't remember when he
" saw Spike rip the throats out of innocent people. He tried to kill us who knows how many times. " Can't remember Xander witnessing the kills (although Spike DID indeed drain many a person in his time). As for the try to kill.....um....the one time Xander SHOULD have been killed by Spike (Lovers Walk) he was merely clocked and knocked out then carried and placed on a mattress! Killing Xander in front of Willow would have been quite effective in scaring her into helping so there was no percentage in keeping Xander alive. *end rant*

Excellent update. Please take care of yourself....we'll be here when you are up to writing again!

You're right...Xander never really witnessed that, though of course there's embellishment and also the in between the episodes we didn't get to see. :) We know how Xander likes to make Spike look worse than he already is. I wouldn't worry though...I'm trying to get Xander back in the loop. He does want to try to make things work with Buffy, and Anya's giving him back the ring just kinda set it in motion.

I'm feeling a little better, but it comes and goes, so I'm writing a bit right now. :)

And yeah...I might've been hinting at the possibility of a bitty-Buffy or Spike Jr. I've been writing fan fiction for, God, 8 or 9 years, since I was 14 or so, and nearly every freaking one of my stories has a kid in it. I LOVE writing pregnancies and family stories, and I'm still on the fence about whether or not I want Buffy and Spike to have a baby in this one. I've been reading so many stories lately with Spike as a proud and doting pop, and I just love that side of him...and I'd love the chance to write that with him, considering in "Drawn to the Fire" he really didn't get much time with Buffy while she was pregnant.

WOW! I know how to ramble, huh? Anyway, still not sure if I'm gonna do a pregnancy this time around, but there'll definitely be babies in future Spuffy fics! :)

Ha, I knew Dr. Phil was a demon, it makes so much sense now. I'm not completely convinced that Oprah isn't one, either. I'm interested to see how the meeting goes between Spike and Hank, I really can't say I feel all that sorry for him. Sure, he lost one family, but forgets that he had another one first, one that should have been more important to him. Hopefully he'll realize that, but sometimes we're just better off without our fathers. I'm really glad that Spike is there for her, they're so sweet together.

Hello! Very good chappie! I love the Spuffy fluffiness. I sooo wish their relationship would have played out like this on the show.

I really liked Xander and Anya in this chapter. They're another couple that I really wish had made it on the show! Good work!

p.s. About claims...I'm not exactly an expert on vampiric claiming. I only know what I've read in other fics. Most of the time there's some kind of shared telepathy between the mated pair and a sharing of emotions. There's also a " 'til death do you part" kind of clause meaning if one mate dies, the other follows. That's about all I know! :-)

Thanks Katherine! I consulted with some other Spuffy fic writers, and from what I've read in other stories, this "claim" thing is different in a lot of cases. In Buffy and Spike's case, there's no telepathy at this point, but there may be something else...something very, very big. :) I'll try to make it make sense as best as I can. :)

Great Story - Like how your resolution to how Buffy comes back - how she has been changed after her death - how it effects her resurrected life. The idea of being transformed with more peaceful and loving and understanding nature works really well; gives a simple but very effective and logical reason for the changes of character and how she evolves in your work. Love your Spike and Dawn and again, why he makes his choice to get his soul restored works to the advantage of his character.

I'ts nice to see Spike and Buffy getting into a sense of loving normality.

However I don't necessarily agree that Buffy would be so quick to dismiss the idea of helping Dana, she has more faith in humanity and by now she know better than to think thing in terms of black and white.

:) Thanks! I do agree with you about dismissing Dana, BUT, she hasn't been given much of anything except for the fact that Dana's in prison for murder. She does have a sister to think about, and she knows more than anything that being the Slayer can put those you love in danger.

Nice playful and sweet interlude for them. She is still being quite judgmental where Dana is concerned. I think that hit Spike in raw spots.

Travers sounds decent for a change and not a bloody wanker as we saw on the show so often. Will be interesting to see how this one goes.

Thanks Kathleen! The way I see it about Buffy's attitude toward Dana is that she doesn't know all the facts. All she knows is that the woman was convicted of murder and then became a Slayer and killed more people. Maybe Season 6 Buffy would've been thrilled to get away from Sunnydale with a new mission, but not this one. She has more going on in her life, and right now, the Council's got it somewhat under control now that she's back in her restraints. More to come soon on that, though. Plus, I tried to get across that Buffy was separating Dana has a murderer from Spike as a vampire, because she sees it as two different things.

Oh dear.....he's referring to Spike as Hostile 17 that can't be good.

Love how you've gone right to the chip situation. I could write massive amounts about the need for that chip past his loving Buffy but I won't right now. I just hope Giles and the Scoobies really understand just what Spike has done by going for that soul and how it shows how special he already was without it.

I always got angry with those who felt Spike wasn't sorry enough for the killings (ie: didn't brood like Angel). Clearly Spike had sense enough to know that he couldn't change the past, couldn't atone for every death that he brought on as a vampire. He realized that he was, after all, a vampire and thus following his nature and while he regretted the killing he understood it. You've captured that attitude nicely.

Great chapter! Oh how I wish canon Buffy had been appreciative of his soul getting like this one is but then again this one is more emotionally open.

Love the "bits of life" with Dawn too. It makes great sense that Buffy's relationship with Dawn is better in your world too because it was the same emotional handicaps that kept her from allowing herself to love Spike that kept her from bonding closely with Dawn.

"He only wanted his friends to be happy if he was happy with the reasons they were happy." EXACTLY! In S6 and part of S7 that is just how he acted. He had started to mature some in S7 after he lost Anya but at this point in time it was all about what HE wanted for them (same with Willow actually).

Hope Spike manages to make it home fairly soon even if still in real trouble with the guilt and memories or Buffy will begin to think yet another man has left her.

Still interested in the Council/Dana part in this.

Nicely done mix of canon and AU. Appreciate (in the full sense of the word) the frequent updates. Wish I was as faithful when posting!

Aww...thanks again! Well, as you'll see, a little more time will have passed when I post Chapter 18. I believe Spike'll have been gone more than a couple of weeks. BUT, Buffy's more worried than mad, so at least he's not going to get beat down when he gets home...I don't think. ;)

Dawn is very in character, over the moon that Buffy has fallen for Spike. Xander is in character too, sadly. Dawn was right to say that Buffy is not at fault for never loving Xander that way. He is the one who chose to hang around even after she had turned him down clearly in the beginning.

Phone sex! Good job there and an easy way for that ILY to fall out naturally.

Xander is an ass (and you nailed him at this point in canon too). I always thought that Riley was only okay because Xander projected himself on him. He has a lot of nerve critiquing Buffy's love life not to mention turning venom on Tara too.

Really love Buffy inviting Tara back. I think they need each other right now.

Glad Spike called to make it a bit better. Buffy is going to be stunned when she finds out what he is doing and why. Giles SHOULD be impressed at the amount of love needed to make that choice too (that always angered me in canon! Giles should have been really interested in the hows and why's of Spike's soul quest).

OH Dana is in play! Wonder there that will lead. Can't be good (I have a deep mistrust of Travers and the Council in general).

Glad Willow is getting help. Maybe these changes will keep Tara alive.

Got a feeling Spike is off to Africa to pacify Giles but if he's like he was on the show it won't matter. Add him to the list of those I'd love to smack down. He IS blind and not from Willow's spell. He cannot seem to see past the fangs to the being sporting them. Spike and Angel are not alike (and at his worst he was never as bad as Angelus).

okay, confused by the ending, but i'm upset that spike actually cared what the others said and went to get a soul when he didn't have to, it's going to make him different and crazy, i prefer this spike, he doesn't need a soul. i really hate giles and xander right now, at least willow knows she needs help and went to get it.

It's not so much just what they said then, but it's about the fact that the soul has been brought up quite often. As we can tell, Buffy knows that Spike doesn't have a soul, but her feelings for him are growing anyway. Nope, Spike doesn't have to get his soul, but if that's what he is truly doing, isn't him deciding to get it without almost raping her a lot nicer? LOL...I like to think so!

Just spent a lovely morning reading and getting caught up with this wonderfully done story. THIS is a natural progression to what we saw before Buffy kissed Spike and panicked in canon. Lovely in every way but mostly because it really makes sense based on what we actually saw happening until they changed course mid stream.

Willow is a big concern here....hope she doesn't try to "help" her friend once more but with Willow you never know. She's a bigger danger to this couple than Giles or Xander at this point.

Really good character voices. Love that your Buffy, while fragile, is actively seeking to deal with her circumstances upon return...all the responsibility. I love her closeness with Dawn as well (another area they messed up IMHO....I mean Buffy DIED for love of her sister and then ignored the kid when she got back??? Come on!). Giles returning and not just buggering off is another part that is more in character than canon. Okay, ASH was leaving the show but they could have written many different reasons that FIT his character without having him do the stupid part of thinking she needed MORE responsibility! Sheesh. Nicely done, indeed.

Glad I got to savor this in one sitting...looking forward to more.

Good chapter. I am glad that Buffy has decided to tell everyone about Spike. I really like the conversations that Buffy has with Dawn. It was something that was sorely missing on the show. I also really like Buffy and Spike together in this story. I hope that Xander's and Giles reactions won't be so over the top. j

Love this story! I'm enjoying the long, slow slide into a real relationship. This is what they should have been to each other instead of the bash and slash we got on the show. I never understood how the writers' so completely changed the dynamics of their relationship from one season to another. In season 5, she trusted him and treated him well, after the Glory torture, she even went as far as, counting on him above the others, when they went on the run. (Winnebago) It was completely out of character to begin treating him in season 6,in much the same way she did in season 4...........................Listen to me ramble::)) Well, like I said, it's a lovely story, you make me smile when I read it.

Whoa, talk about awkward. Buffy feeling a tad uncomfy around the hunky vampire after a night in his arms? Oh, like how the girls saw them!!! Will there be teasing by Dawnie? lol. That was sweet still, the Spuffy scenes. Though she is definately not sure how she feels, they are getting closer on an emotional level, and she certainly doesn't hate him. Great chapter!

Oh, so close! An almost kiss! Stupid vampire got in the way! Great chapter though. I love the development of Spike and Buffy's relationship, but also that of the gang. Can't wait to see where you'll head with this next. Hope Giles will arrive soon!

Best chappie yet. Love Dawn getting a nice doze of 'normal' family life (Sunnyhell style.) You capture Dawn and Spike rather well it's quite believable.

Very heartfelt moments with Spike and his mentioning fighting his "inner demons." There is a nice strength, an awe built into the way you have him express his thoughts too Buffy and it's neither too morose or needy.

And finally I'm glad B got her bottom handed to her. I can't imagine anyone coming back one day and being in fighting shape the next.

Whoa, she actually told them. I like the differences you have in your story. It makes it a new and exciting read. Love this chapter, especially the talk between Spike and Buffy. Still, she doesn't tell them the whole truth, does she? Doesn't want to hurt their feelings. Nice way to bring our couple closer though. Great chapter.

The way I see it in my head when I'm writing is that Buffy doesn't want to upset anyone, because she wants to work it all out herself. Things aren't as bad as on the show, but she's still working through some things, but as you'll see in the coming chapters, she's starting to come around. :)

Boy is WIllow clueless or what? I always thought it was strange when the show portrayed Anya and Tara going along with the plan to bring Buffy back without either of them voicing any opposition. I suppose Tara's love, loyalty, and her innate shyness could explain her not speaking up.

It's also so nice to see Buffy actually not kick Spike to the curb. Another qualm I had with the show. Thank you for righting/writing this 'wrong.'

Thank you! Yeah, I guess I can see Tara and Anya going along, simply because their respective lovers loved Buffy so much. And I would have much preferred Buffy treating Spike a lot better through Season 6 too!

Can you drop Xander on his head... Please! Is it wrong after all this time I still want to stuff a rag in the Xanman's big mouth. :)

Great start... Wait it is a start... right? Whew just checked an it said, "Chappy 1." Good! I'm looking forward to "Confrontation Spike." It never felt right when they wrote him running off into the dark. Emotional or not Spike is a "stick around kinda guy."

I'm looking forward to a possibly more open - needy Buffy. Please keep up the great work. Ta!
