He got a wonderful, well deserved and long in coming reward. It's more than a crumb. A very fitting ending to this tale. It gives us something to chew on while you sit back and decide whether to continue or not.

NICE CHAPTER - a good mix of emotional context for the women and the connection between Buffy and Spike - It's great to have a Buffy that is more open to thinking about what "might have happened" instead of the "auto mode thinking the worse." 

While it is very much in keeping with the series regarding her concept of Spike - except for last season, all that negativity is hard to take.  The "softer side of Buffy" is a good change - especially after working with some of the imagery from season six -

Very sweet scene between Buffy and Spike. I love the way you wrote the play of emotions going on with Buffy.

I'm so glad Buffy didn't "hit first, get explanation later".  I'm very proud of her!  I'm happy that she's going to help Spike.  Hopefully now she can see the other side of him.

 This is a really interesting take on the love that is Spuffy.  I am curious what it will take for her to admit her feeling to him and the others in this story, and what will happen when Dru realises Buffy and Spike have something going on.

Glad to see a Spike story that will explore his blood lust and extreme measures that he has to deal with in order to not feed from humans.  For all the vast amount of Spike centered stories, so few of them ever really bring in this theme and yet it would have to be one of the most important things of his life and transformation journey arc.

yeah, sorry, but i won't be continuing this one.  i don't see any spuffy happening here, especially not after he just ruined any chance he may have had.  it's too upsetting, and seeing him back with dru and all lovey dovey with her makes me sick.  and using dawn like that, i definitely don't like this spike, i have a feeling i never will, so i'll just step away now, good luck with the rest of it.

It had been comforting, in a strange way, knowing that she had a mortal enemy.

Absolutely worth a go! This is a take on Crush that makes all kinds of sense. I'm sort of surprised that I haven't seen it before. Buffy never realized how much worse things could have gone, though I totally understand her annoyance at being chained up. However, by not keeping her "enemy" close, all sorts of badness could overtake her.

Also, I love the Spike/Dru dynamic. It's so sweet and twisted. You've done a credible job at capturing that. Excellent!

It's about time someone wrote a fic that delved into what would happen if Buffy's abuse drove Spike back to his old ways and they all have to deal with him trying to kill them all in revenge for their mistreatment of him (just don't have him want to harm Joyce and Dawn, of course).
