Such a mix of sadness, cuteness, angstyness, loveness - okay, enough w/ the nesses- but truly, i loved the way you made the fic progress through flashbacks and how you included spike's history into the story. Good chapter.I decided to read this story after I saw the good reviews.I have to read the other chapters,but this chapter was really good.(I like to read the last chapter fast.If the ending is too crappy or sad,I refuse to read the rest of the story.I'll probably go back and read the rest of the story tomorrow because I won't be home tonight.)

Well a nice happy end and all but still a bit sad about Dawn. Always sort of liked her and what she brought to the show. She could be very annoying but she could also be very nice and be a real good friend to Spike when no one else would be.

Hmm I'm sort of waiting for the real deep loss of Buffy to hit her, I mean she lost a sister just a few days/weeks ago. I would think it would be more devastating.

I'm happy there's still sorrow in regards to Tessa - she was never intended to be loathed throughout the entire fic. The Council would've loved the journals, but I think Spike was looking out for himself, too - imagine what kind of info Giles would've found out about him.

Nice plot but I think Joyce would be a bit more upset by her daughter's death. She seemed too calm. Also, Giles has done a bit of a 180. First he trusts Spike then he doesn't. Not really enough justification for this character development.

I don't disagree that Joyce would be more upset about her daughter's death, but I think she'd be just as afraid for her life. Giles changing his mind a lot about Spike was undoubtedly influenced by Xander. Also, I would think that after one kidnapping, he wouldn't be so worried that Spike did it because things didn't match up, but after two kidnappings, no one can be too sure, even a grown man like Giles.

Yes, I'd agree that Dawn's blood does fall on Angelus' hands - great way of putting it. Tessa is a bit like Claudia in "Interview With a Vampire", although I think she's a bit more evil.

Angelus and Darla definitely are awful vampires, and they'll be appearing very soon in the story, along with an explanation from Tessa as to why she's (finally) on a mission to hurt Spike and other people. Don't worry - there won't be much in the way of an intervention for a while. As for Anya, I attribute her acting the way she did to the fact that she didn't really grasp the concept of death at that point (as seen in "The Body") and her being her usual self at points. I love Anya, though, and won't make her act so oddly throughout more of the story. I hope you continue to like the fic!

Thank you! The way I figure it, no one knows how far a vampire can sense another one, so I've been going with that. Also, in "Surprise", Spike and Dru don't notice that both Angel and Buffy were watching them from above - the Judge pointed it out first. I guess it depends on proximity and how much attention a vampire is paying to their surroundings. He'll be catching on soon, though, that someone's watching him. I hope you continue to enjoy the fic!

Disharmony
Hmm I would have hoped for a bit of torture of Harmony. I don't think that Spike would settle for just dusting her, I'm thinking that there would be hours upon hours of pain before she dusted.
Spike still has to go check in on Buffy before the sun rises, although torturing Harmony wouldn't have been bad to see. But why prolong the inevitable? She had it coming, and now it's time for more angst and even some sweetness.
GRRRR ARGH!! Will Spike ever figure out this puzzle? He should find Angelus, tie him up and give him to Tessa. Why does Tessa think everything is Spike's fault?
Spike will figure things out sooner rather than later, I promise. You'll have to wait and see what becomes of Angel, too. Spike let Tessa be hurt and taken away, along with the fact he was the one who sired her, so she has a lot of residual anger. Don't worry, though- everyone else will get what's coming to them, too.

just read all the chaps of this story. it's sad that dawn died but i can't wait to see what happens when tessa and spike see each other. I like tessas character horrible what happened to her at the hands of dru angel and darla. Would send you nuts to find that out. Hope you continue soon.

I haven't ever really liked Dawn, either, so she was my top choice to have die in the story. Buffy isn't going to go catatonic, per se, but she won't react well at all to the news. You can be sure, though, that Spike will be at her side to help and comfort her.

I've only read "Guilty Pleasures", actually - it was assigned last semester in a class about vampires in literature. I'd like to read more of Hamilton's novels - she's very interesting. I'm intrigued to find out about this other vampire now!

She was definitely one of the weirdest characters I have ever read - I was expecting her to be more innocent, but she was evil.
