Loving the story!  Update soon pretty please!!

Well - nice surprise - I really like how you changed the premise from Buffy Slayer to Buffy Guardian in training.  I think this will turn out to be extremely interesting - Buffy with women mentors and Buffy being forced to use her brain and understanding of people and the demon realms and not just Slayer Buffy, that frankly, IMO, was very narrow minded and dogmatic, with a great big slice of "quick to violence."

Love how this story is going - how you used the series but made it all fit so well with your own version.  Wish you had more stuff with the Guardians, especially more with themselves and their own stories.  They really could be such great characters to work with - sorry that we have so little Spike as well, but I like that you are making this really more about Buffy and her friends.

 

I kind of understood Ford, he was a teenager who just got told he was going to die very soon. So yeah he went looking for a way around it. But to sell out a friend to get it? Low.

Xander and Kendra, perfect for each other. Both social misfits. Now hopefully he wont get infected by the hyena's and try to rape her. That would destroy her.

I think it is truly funny that Angel is backing away from Buffy now that she isn't the slayer anymore. In the original timeline he dumps her so she can have normal, then he becomes normal and still dumps her. Now that she is normal you can really see that he only wanted her because she was the slayer. But because he likes to wallow in guilt and remain miserable he wants everyone else to be miserable. For him they only work if they are star crossed lovers, unable to be together because of fate. He never even tried to do anything about his soul once he found out about the loophole. And why did it take him so long to find out. You would think that he would have been looking for answers right away. We all know Spike would have, he never just accepts things, he needs to understand and look for solutions.

I hope that if / when Buffy and Spike get together he doesn't think Buffy used that mind control thing on him to get him to love her. We all know how he feels about being manipulated.

this is an interesting take - I enjoyed all the chapters over two days, hope there will be more soon.

This is a unique idea.  It's not 'all human', but Buffy's not a slayer either...  I look forward to seeing what you do with it.  Will Buffy actually interact significantly with Kendra and train her, or is Kendra doomed?  Please continue to update regularly.

So Guardians get something akin to the "Jedi Mind Trick" or a vampire's thrall?  Nice.  I hope Buffy's ability to do that doesn't prevent lots of snarky banter between our favorite blonde duo.

Go Buffy with the Jedi mind trick! I really loved this story a while ago, and I'm very excited that you are updating it. I always wanted to know what reason Spike would give about not taking Nikki's blood. I wonder what he'll do when he finds out Buffy is just as weak as a human girl now? Your characterization is really great, and you're being fair to Angel without being too sappy. It's very realistic that he would distance himself from Buffy is she wasn't the Slayer, so much for his great 'love' for her.

I have to say I really like your characterization. You've even got Angel right, down to how their relationship might be, unlike a lot of Spuffy stories. I hadn't even realized this was a Spuffy story until I looked at the top of the website and read what you wrote about him earlier. I'll go on reading it anyway, even though I tend to have my doubts when seeing Spuffy.

Was hoping to find more of this posted, but enjoyed re-reading this chapter nonetheless.

It feels good to know that Buffy has already gotten a "perk" of her new position in that she feels more grounded. The Council was always *take, take, take* from the slayer ~ she never got anything but grief in return from them. Already the Guardians are kicking ass!

Wow, I just started reading this story today, and it's got me hooked. Good mysterious setup: the immortal Slayer, the Guardians, that vampire who's killed two slayers...hope he shows up pretty soon!

I am so happy this story is still going on! Great introduction to Kendra. Angel was always more in love with the image of Buffy than the actual girl- if you could call his condescending obsession love. I can't wait to hear more about the older Buffy's plans in having Buffy become a guardian.

Spike. I know we have to work up to it, and Kendra might get in the way, but I can't wait to see Spike. How will he and Buffy act together? Can he fall for her without seeing that 'beautiful violence' she was capable of as a fight? Buffy could still learn self-defense and have some cool moves! Also, I really want to know his answer about why he didn't drain Nikki on the subway car.

What an interesting premise you are working with - I really like how you have changed her history and how you are using The Guardians.  Very glad that I started reading this as I have always wanted to read a story with The Guardians.  Very surprised that the FF writers have not done more with the Guardians - seems like a great way to do something new with the Buffyverse and Spuffy while keeping the connection with the TV Era. 
I hope that you are able to update your work regularly - I am totally hooked in.

 

Just found this story, but I love it! That was actually something that bothered me on the show. If when she drowned and Kendra was called how did Buffy retain her power? Didn't really make sense, she apparently was dead long enough to call a new slayer so shouldn't the power have left her?

The "battle scarred immortal Slayer" has to be Buffy right, she did say she wouldn't have to dive off the tower again? And she is trying to get this Buffy and Spike together.

Alright! I only found this story recently, and loved that I could read through without the long breaks between chapters that can be torture. Chapter 8 is wonderfully crafted, with a fascinating way of young Buffy reacting to Spike, as the Slayer of Slayers. I'm sure meeting him will be amazing! Though I'm biased, in love with the idea of Spuffy, and I hope being a potential might have some affect that could give Buffy, as a Guardian, a little strength with her own knowledge and experience, so she'll be able to 'dance' with Spike. This story is so realistic and well-written, it just drags me in. All the points draw from the show with minimal changes to help the background.
I hope this story can move forward, as I can see Buffy maturing already. And what about everyone's favorite vamp hottie? Love how Buffy could notice that, especially while watching him fight! And I always wanted an explanation, in his own words, of why Spike didn't feed of Nikki's body. I can barely stand to wait for more!

awesome chapter I like the guardian saying Angel interpreted the mandate to protect her rather creatively lol. Love how she's finding out stuff about the council and Angel's curse.

This is quite compelling. I'm looking forward to seeing where this leads. Interesting to see a world where the Slayer line didn't split (and wonder what a Guardian Buffy would do with Faith!!). Looking forward to Spike in the mix too.

I always thought Angel did a pi$$ poor job of "helping" Buffy and his reaction to the prophecy of her death (going to his apartment to wait for the news of her death until Xander dragged him out!!!!!) was shameful IMHO. Great story so far.

He' was there for the slayer which she isn't anymore, but he did like her from the time that he first saw her. Since this is a Spuffy archive and I do hate Angel, so I can't wait to see how Spike is going to figure into this. Wonderful chappie, thanks.

I like that Giles wants to protect Buffy and allow her to have a normal like, but he should know secrets are never good. As for Angel, if he doesn't want Buffy anymore he really should talk to her. Thanks for the update I really enjoyed it.

Oh I haven't seen this fic before. I love these "not the slayer" anymore fics...I have an idea that starts close to this time in my ideas folder with a similar premise (so later you don't go: "HEY!" lol. I promise I'm not stealing lol.)

I think I'm really going to like this fic. Fantastic prologue...and it might be short, but it's really good and that's the most important part. Short and fantastic is better than long and crappy (not saying you would write long and crappy)...ok shutting up now! :)
