 I really loved this story. I wish that it was the end of the actual show, haha. I think that the ending of the actual show was too sad and cut-off. We finally got to see the Spuffy relationship and then it was like, "Oh wait, never mind, we are just going to tease you, and not give you what you really want." Agh! haha, but I liked this ending, because it is more...open i guess. I like that you gave everyone an opprotunity(sp?) at a future. In the ending of the real series, it was kind of choppy.  This ending could go anywhere. I loved seeing Angel in it! I also liked the Drusilla part, cause she's so crazy :) . I loved the ending with effulgent. That is my favorite word :) I just found this story today, and was glad that it was already finished cause I don't know how I could have waited if it wasn't. Again, awesome story, to an awesome series

Great Second Read -

Wonderful Story - this was an excellent alternative to the series and how the Slayer Scythe was used and how The Key/Dawn brought in her power as part of the battle.  Buffy and Spike and their mating; a splendid use of that theme and for how Spike was able to survive his use of the amulet.  I LOVE you Spuffy ending and your Spuffy version.

Wow! I think I'm in love! The entire story was brilliant from start to finish, with an ending I enjoyed much more than the depressing surmise of the actual series.

At first, like Buffy, I was a bit upset with cocky and possesive nature prescribed to Spike in his realtions with Slayers, in particular her; claiming... let's say ownership before any love, but, also like Buffy, I warmed to the idea and I appreciate and value your take on each character. I think you were able to capture not just character's beautifully (especially Giles, inwhich I thought was written very well) but also present underlying themes and ideas that I believe have not been as well analysed before.

The absolute ending with Buffy and Spike was absolutely gorgeous and beautifully written:

"...reds, pinks and golds of the sunset, and how they streaked iridescently through the darkening azure of the sky. He admired the inky black silhouettes of the trees against the glowing heavens..." -- my favourite lines, and really cannot be better phrased. Well Done!

Wonderful interpretation of the elements from the series with the changes to The Key especially and The Giles-Spike relationship. Very much like your presentation of Vampire Mating Powers Transfer - makes a neat solution to the limits of both Spike and Buffy. Using TRUE LOVE as the foundation, and limitation to it's use, gives the ritual a beautiful and romantic quality while also making it specific to Spike and Buffy. Would like to have had a little more to the climax with Dawn in "The Key" form - but I really liked how she finally given back her Key Powers. Not having Dawn in Key Form resolved in the series was one of the themes that I was really hoping for.

Loved that they had continued support from the mating and had a beautiful wedding. Thanks for having Spike carry her over the threshold, that was very romantic. Surprised that Spike could control himself that long. Hate that their bliss will only be for such a short time before they have to fight. Beautifully done, thanks.

Exchanging Angel's ring for Spike's was a fantastic idea. Another way to show Spike just where Angel fits in her life. Sweet of Xander to give her a garden wedding. One more up raising was in order, now for the wedding! Thanks JD, wonderful chapter.

Yes!*bounces* Loved that Angel got the crap beat out of him with little effort from Spike but it was Buffy's place to let him know that it was truly over. So freaking happy that Spike finally got the last laugh with him, after over a hundred years, he finally got the girl!!! Good to know that Xander gets it now. Just like Drac to push Spike knowing that Buffy was the slayer and tried to seduce her, Euro-wanker! Can't wait for Angel to show up! Shoulda figured he'd feel the mating. Waiting for him to realize that it's true love and that Spike's almost invincible. Really love where this story is going. Well, Spike DID kill the slayer in the 40s in Pretty Maids All in A Row. That book also had a theme of trying to kill off all the potentials.

I like the way you have Xander and Wood bonding in this chapter. There should have been more of that in canon what with the both of them being so obsessive.

Excellent chapter - nice touch with the Xander deep hidden desire to still maybe one day be the man she would choose.  It always bothered me how Anya was accepted into their inner circle and was never held accountable for all the thousands of people she did kill or the lives she destroyed - so it was good to have that in this chapter.

So want to kick Xander's butt. He'll never learn. I hope he at least "sees" better now. Good chapter.

That was great. I have always wished that Spike and Dawn had gotten to work things out. I honestly do not believe that Buffy ever told her the whole sordid tale. Also you assesment of Xander is perfect. He was too busy acting as judge and jury over Buffy's life that he never saw any of his own faults.
Great chapter and I'm looking forward to seeing the reaction of the others now that Dawn is on their side again. =)

This is my second reading of these stories - I really like your idea of the mating ritual and they integration and vast enhancement of their powers.

I love the start to this story. I believe Giles' reaction was perfect and I loved how both Spike and Buffy stood up to him.
They all got so used to walking all over Spike. Hopefully we'll get to see them reminded why he has survived as long as he has.

I loved how when Xander was demanding an answer all Buffy said was later, his thought about not being able to persuade Buffy into doing what he wanted really match his attitude during the show. Spike asking Buffy to marry him using the words from before and her responding the same way was so cute. I do like how Buffy wanted to tell Giles first and when he continued to react poorly to the news she told him that she loved Spike and to get over it. I also like how she reacted when Giles complained about how dangerous Spike was to her in the kitchen. I am looking forward to following this story, I hope you will be able to update soon. :D
