Living A Lie
beautiful vignettes.
now I'm left to wonder if waht you have written is the beginning of a changeof what happened in Canon, of it still went down the path of hte bad.  I'm voting for a change for the better, and shall leave it at that.  THanks for the nice read.
I won't write a sequel to this, if only because I have too many others on my mind, but the finale of this story is the start of a change for the better in Season 6. Buffy wouldn't let Spike comfort her in any other way except sexually as season 6 went on, but here, she's already given in to her urges to cuddle with him. That marks an improvement right there on the spot :) Thanks for reading and reviewing, it's much appreciated!

Wow!  Love that you added that tender comforting moment at the end!  It was nice to see all of this insight into Buffy's mind.  Great story!
Thank you, very much :) If only it had really ended this way. Joss wasn't going to give us that. Pfft.

Oh I don't think she is a Vampire and I think Joyce knew she would be leaving.
Joyce suspected -- she wasn't entirely sure what was going on, but she suspected that something was trying to pull Buffy back. And as for the vampire thing -- of course she wasn't. But if you'd been dead, then had to dig up out of your own grave and see your own tombstone, then thought back on all the years that you've experienced seeing things like this happen to other people, what would you think? Remember, Buffy wasn't totally rational at this point -- she had literally just been yanked out of heaven and back into her grave by four well-meaning but incredibly stupid people. Or rather, four well-meaning people, one of whom was very stupid and three others who were very duped.

A great addition to this fic!  So glad there was a reunion with Joyce!  It was nice to have an image of what Heaven was like for Buffy other than just peaceful.  Loved the part after her resurrection!  It always seemed like Buffy was really scared and confused but the idea that she had been turned was one I'd never thought of.  It worked really well!
Keep in mind -- season 1 told us flat out what Buffy's greatest fear was. Granted, by this time five years has passed, so her greatest fear may have changed, but I think there was a part of her that has always been terrified of dying and being resurrected as a vampire. Seriously, if you'd been in her position, what would you have thought if you'd been at peace, then had to not only dig yourself out of your own grave, but had to face your own tombstone -- veritable proof that you'd been dead?

Of course, Joss might have simply said that Buffy was slightly out of her mind given the random resurrection and plane-shifting, so whatever :) Thanks for the review!

Well that was brilliant!  It was tough to read at points and definitely caused tears to be shed, but I loved that it was from Buffy's POV.  It always seemed like she was giving up as much as she was saving Dawn and you really captured that here.  It also seemed like she might feel more than just disgust towards Spike but wouldn't acknowledge it and you really explored that fully.  Great job!
I think it was tough to read at points because those last few minutes of Buffy's life were jumbled. She was thinking and experiencing so much at once that of course all of her thoughts would pour out in a mess, and I tried to represent that. And I really think she did feel something more toward Spike, not just that night, but as far back as the engagement spell, maybe even as far back as when she first met him. Spike's the sort of guy that'll really leave an impact on people, whether you want him to or not :) Thanks for the review!
