Interesting how you're sifting through the layers of Spike and winnowing out essential characteristics separate from experience or memory.  And what a great opportunity for Buffy to review the past through a more mature perspective.  Looking forward to reading how you choose for her to present it.  Kind of hope that we aren't going to have too much exposition of backstory at once however, but I trust you not to sacrifice characterisation or plot development.  Bring it on!
LOL On it comes.  I hope you approve. :)

really like this story and hope you plan to finish it. do you?
I'm glad you're liking it. I've never not finished a story that I've begun posting.  I am always several chapters ahead of what's being posted, so already working on what will probably be one of the last two or three chapters. :)

 Oooh yes!
*G*  Happy birthday, BTW!

This was a just a joy to read. An amnesiac Spike offers all kinds of potential for Buffy, even if she's not sure what to do with it yet. It was great to read "Spike: The Abridged History, as Told by Buffy Summers."
LOL  More history to go, but at least he's a little bit caught up.

loverly story here! great chappie. love how buffy's all nervous about telling ghost spike their history. very buffy. but i must say, that part about the two of them not exactly being anyones idea of the perfect couple? a few of us here at the bsv might disagree... ^_^ when all is said and done of course.
ROFL - that's quite true, isn't it? Many of us would disagree completely. LOL  Thanks for reading.

I sense they will fall in love all over again while waiting for his memories to kick in.

This is lovely and I am so pleased the conversation took place on the porch steps.

Her reaction to his interesting choice of words was perfect.  She is near hysteria in a sense.  Poor Spike to become so confused but he handled it just as one would expect with the gentle hand and caring.

I like both of their reactions to the news that he not only killed a Slayer but still feels a bit of pride.  That is a different kind of kill...like wartime, warrior to warrior and had he NOT won he would have been dust.  The other kills, those would be the ones to haunt his soul because although it was normal to hunt and kill for food had he the soul he could have found another way to survive and yet feed so he feels the guilt of lives taken.

Excellent!  Can't wait for more.

Kathleen
Thank you. More on Thursday.

NIce chapter.  I really liked the Buffy and Spike conversation.
Thanks.

That was a sweet conversation that Buffy handled surprisingly well.  It went better than I expected, but his return is a mystery.  Yum.
I'm glad you liked it. Buffy seems to have grown up a little in the intervening years.

Excellent!!! Very, Very Good!!!

This is turning into one of my favorite "Can't wait for the next chapter!!!" stories.

I'm having a very strong feeling that the man who confined William/Spike to his house without any of his memories was Angel. Or maybe Angelus??? It sounds like something that Angel would do to get rid of Spike, and torture him at the same time.

Hee! Thanks for taking the time to tell me that you're enjoying it.   Don't know about Angel/Angelus, though. Didn't Giles say something about vampire's not leaving bodies?  But we'll see.

Lovely, really lovely.  Great progress from chapter to chapter.  Of course now she has to report back to the gang, which should be interesting.
Thank you so much. :)

aww poor ghost!Spike with everything hitting him all at once, and though revisiting the past can get hurtful for Buffy, retelling your  memories can be therapeutic.
Well, it might give them a chance to work through some things. You never know...

Oh yay!! Spike is back! Now he just needs to remember who he is. Loved the awkwardness in this chapter - beautifully written. Loved every bit of it and look forward to the next installment.
Thank you. Yep, he's back - in a way. :)  Next chapter will be Thursday
