Somebody has to put their thinking cap on and come up with the loophole...
Hee! The loophole, in terms of Spike no longer being a ghost, is that he can move on as soon as he takes care of his business. It's just unfortunate that his business is Buffy...

It was not very nice to end it right there. I wonder what Spike's reaction will be to what Buffy said. I also don't understand why she left him there. Please update soon there is more to explain.
Another chapter tomorrow. Maybe it will explain things ...:)

What's a ghost to do when it's over before it started? A Champion deserves more.

Sad, but, it's not going to be that easy. If it were, methinks he would have gone "poof" the minute he knew she loved him. She's been with him for days and...still here. Also, there's that little Powers' loophole; being without her is going to be Hell, and they don't want that kind of pain inflicted on their Champion.
And, there's Spike. What if he doesn't want to stay away? What if he doesn't want to go? If that's so, then any "reward" that does not include Buffy would be Hell indeed.
Good chapter, can't wait for more!

Don't think Spike will leave Buffy alone.. just not in his personality.. and especially since he is not trapped at the house..
He'll probably decide.. a time with someone that loves you is better than an existance alone ... just a ghost.. and maybe the Powers have a trick up their sleeve.. and when he goes oof the next time it is to be a real boy.. ? or you can just angst it up and he just goes poof.. and Buffy will be alone again poor thing.

oh my gosh. that was so sad. im actually almost crying here, in the actual real tears sense, and i have no idea why. overly emotional today i guess. still, even without my freak emotions, that ending part was so sad. but no one can say that buffy does not love spike here. giving him up to keep him on earth... but would it be worth it? for either of them? and is that indeed the task he needs to complete? and, come on, it's spike. would he actually go away forever? that really sucks that this happened right when spike found out he could leave the house and go out in the sun. what do ya bet he's going to fix up that garden now, eh? anyways, great chappie, as always!

How sad, the way this chapter ended. And I was feeling all giddy because Willow released Spike from the house, and he called her Red, and then he met Buffy at the station...
Well, there'll be a new chapter in a few days...:)

Your Willow was very in character being so rapt up in her "investigation" and "fixing" that she was somewhat rude. That's her to a tee.
Good conversations between Dawn and Willow too. You can feel the relationship and the weight of its history there. I fear Willow has reason to doubt the happily ever after possibilities of this situation. She does NOT know you as I do LOL.
