Chapter: Twenty-six

You have done such a great job with this work  - your handling of this part I think is outstanding.  A wonderful blend of the heartache of losing someone you beloved and important in your life and the history of Buffy and Spike and this wonderful conclusion to all their former sorrows and terrible pain.

I am so glad that I am able to read this at once and not have to wait for chapters while you were originally posting it.  I really have enjoyed reading this so very much -

Thank you. I'm glad you've enjoyed it. I am quite proud of this particular fic. :)

Love the cookie dough reference.  :)  And the happy memory of Spike in Xander's goofy clothes.  LOL!
Thanks!

Thank you so much. More right away. :)

This was a lovely chapter - Buffy struggling through her grief, but moving forward was so poignant.  I know that place of grief and shuttered sun, when you can feel almost normal and suddenly have something so tiny bring the pain flooding back to crush you again.  When pushing it back isn't quite as hard as it was, and you feel guilty about that measure of healing.
Love the premise of this story and I can't wait to see where Spike has been.
Thanks. I'm glad you think it's working.  Yeah, Buffy's going to have a lot of those moments, I suspect. :)

You portray grief very sensitively and realistically.  Can't wait to see how you're going to pull the ending out of this.  Although then it'll be over, won't it?
Thank you for saying so.  And, yes, once I post the ending it will be over. Or, at least we won't be spying on them anymore. :)

Good to see her moving on, but it's hard at the same time, you know? Especially when the cookie dough memories started flying. Good thing Willow's back, though.
Yeah, she's working on it, but it's a long haul.

Lovely view of someone going on with life and even making a future but still in the state of grief and loss.

I don't think Buffy would ever look at cookie dough without remembering what she could have done differently.  It will ever remind her of how little she understood her own feeling when she had the chance to let Spike know where he would have believed.  Nothing like a dollop of regret...she has a kitchen full of 'em already.

Looking forward to where you take this.  Wonder what Teddy WAS going to say about why Buffy might not want to travel.  Wonder why they are trying to get her to have a blind date too.  Hum.....

Excellent interplay between Dawn and Buffy and glad Willow is back and in best friend mode once more.

Wonderful update.

I REALLY have loved every bit of this story in case I haven't mentioned it lately.
Thank you, sweetie. Um, I believe you have mentioned, not that you can't say it again! LOL  I suspect I may lose a few readers  over these next few chapters - some are already wondering where Spike is and why he's not back yet...

very balanced and mature buffy. it is very entertaining to see her that way, thanks for the fine read.
I'm glad you like her. Thanks for reading. :)

If W&H are still sending things after Buffy to kill her in front of Spike, they are either really stupid or they know something she doesn't. I don't think they're stupid.
I want to know who Teddy's American friend is. I sense a mystery there...
I wonder what Buffy's going to get for Christmas...
All things to be answered in good time - well, except maybe for W & H - maybe they just never put out the "never mind" message. :)

Fond memories and tears, is Buffy really starting to heal?  Can't wait to find out, keep up the great work.
Thanks! She's working on it as best she can.

Awww, Christmas......glad it's going to be a family thing. And it's nice to see Buffy doing a holiday without the frantic last-minute dinner plans of Thanksgiving. :D
Yep. She's learned a little bit about planning a holiday meal since then - not much, maybe, but someting! :)

Seeing where you will go.. Maybe a tree Angel Spike..and a wish.. Naa don't think he would appreciate that..  Or a run-in with a New
Vampire in town without a memory.... done that.

And she seems quite settled in ..gotta a house and money and ready to get back to work..

   So?

LOL  So...has more healing to do, but she'll be working on it for awhile.  Could be there's a light at the end of that tunnel, though...

I really like the way you handle her greiving and adjustment.  Suspicious about the American widower reference, but looking forward to finding out what else happens.  Thanks for a great story!
Suspicious about the American widower reference  as well you should be...  Thanks, I'm glad you think it's working. :)

Poor Spike still ;( it's not awhole lot interesting without Spike imo but still good and I try to review every chapter so my reviews are small sorry.
Yeah, I know, no Spike = no fun; but this is more Buffy's story. :)  Thanks for the reviews - even small ones are welcome and appreciated.

Domesticity must be a novelty for Buffy, I'm glad she has something to enjoy.  Please, no blind dates!!!
LOL It's new for her, but about time in her life for it to have some appeal.  Yeah, blind dates = bad idea!
