OK, you really surprised me with that one! I did NOT see it coming that the vamp would be Spike. I look forward to the next chapter to find out what he is doing there and why he was attacking her.
As a person who absolutely refuses to read the season 8 comics, I'm not sure what in your story is your own version and what background I need to have from the comics to understand your story. But so far, so good in the understanding part!

My story is set during S8: the castle, Dawn in college and has a boyfriend named Kenny, Slayers like Leah, Satsu, and Rowena, Buffy and Xander's strong friendship.... all that is canon. All that is in the comics. However, my fic starts a year before S8 starts, and S8 will start during chapter 15 of my fic. I hope you won't get confused seeing as you haven't read the comics, but if you have any questions, I'll be happy to explain.

Okay, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for a few things. Number One, Xander getting shot down by Buffy. There's this perverse part of me that kind of enjoys that, especially in a fic where she's having his baby. :D Number Two, not going through the whole, endless pregnancy with just Buffy and Xander- I hate having to wait weeks and weeks until Update No. 324 or whatever finally introduces Spike, and it was so great to know that he's already back. Oh, and that's Number Three. Spike! Already! *does her happy dance* Can't wait for more!
Oh, and just curious- if you're following canon, are you eventually pairing up Dawn and Xander? Unlike what sometimes seems like the rest of the fandom, I'm not completely averse to that pairing, and I'd love to see it somewhere. :D Though it IS great to be able to read something that takes the unbearable Season Eight and twists it into something properly Spuffy. :D
Oh, and just curious- if you're following canon, are you eventually pairing up Dawn and Xander? Unlike what sometimes seems like the rest of the fandom, I'm not completely averse to that pairing, and I'd love to see it somewhere. :D Though it IS great to be able to read something that takes the unbearable Season Eight and twists it into something properly Spuffy. :D
LOL! You're welcome, beware though, I'm not always THIS nice. :) Some awful stuff will happen later.
Re Xander/Dawn, you'll notice that I avoided the whole issue with Dawn cheating and getting punished by her boyfriend -I don't wanna deal with all of that in this fic. Buffy's sexual act with Xander had her freaking out and calling Dawn, who was about to head to the frat party where she'll meet Nick and sleep with him, she tells Buffy about her doubts and Buffy sets her straight. So, no cheating, no Giant!Dawn, and Dawn and Kenny are tighter than ever.
