NICE - excellent exploration about the characters and how they are trying so hard to fix and fit together -
Personally, I think Xander should have moved on from Buffy a long time ago - While the role of Xander being Dobbin might work out, I don't really see how Buffy would really fall deeply and passionately in love with him. Xander deserves better than being the "I will make it work" - Buffy tried that with Riley and failed.
They thing is, that as long as people hold on to fantasy loves or long lost loves, love and times gone by they are missing who could be or what will appear in their "this time and world"
The more Buffy and Xander try to force this life of true and romantic love, they are doing nothing more than destroying what they really have, which is a great and awesome friendship. Something that may be even harder to find than romantic love.
Great ending - but please, don't give us a Xander-Buffy shower sex scene - nice use of the role playing.

Xander had moved on -S8 showed that on many occations, especially in #3 and #31. But I think having Buffy pregnant with his child made him consider the possibility of being with her, as you remember his first question was "Would you marry me?" Buffy rejected him. Then he was going for a romantic Easter, but feeling that Buffy wasn't into him, he invented a girl from the supermarket that he's interested in. When Buffy kissed him, he was thrown, he'd even questioned the situation, telling Buffy that they don't have feelings for each other.
Now that they had sex and became serious, it won't surprise me that his feelings for Buffy would come back rushing.
Forcing the romance is wrong and only leads to heartache. It's an ugly ride, but I've enjoyed writing it. I love the angst.

I've always thought Buffy sleeping with Xander would be much worse than Anya sleeping with Spike. For years Xander treated Anya badly while he went chasing off after Buffy and acting like a jealous boyfriend whenever Spike was around. And Buffy justified his behavior by treating Spike worse in front of him , for instance in the ep where the demon poisoned her.
I don't really see the worse. The main problem with Buffy sleeping with Xander here is that deep down she's not in love with him, and that'll hurt them both. Spike/Anya's sex was them seeking comfort from each other, nothing else, so it didn't hurt them much, and there's nothing wrong with it.

I love this story, but I can`t wait for it to turn spuffy. It will, right? Taking time to explore the xander thing gives perspective, but I think I might wait reading any more updates for a while, so that I can read it all in one. Then I am sure the xander part will be less frustrating reading about:) So please write a lot and update a lot, so I can go back to reading;) thank you!
