Read this the other day, loved it, and then didn't get a chance to review. Bad me!
"Fell" vs. "Slipped": Even a concussion can't stop the banter! It's banterrific! (new word, copyrighted just for your dialogue)
Loved, loved, loved Spike's distracting conversation about childhood career dreams.
"You're strange."
"No, I'm a rebel."
You got that right, Spike!
Spike's observation that hospitals smell like "depression and disinfectants." Spot on!
Buffy's scent making Spike want to do things that involved candles and chocolate. He truly was damned.
I want to send you chocolate for writing such a great line.
I liked Buffy's belief that is she keeps Spike's coat, she'll keep Spike around. Hey, it's a valid hypothesis. I'd sure try it.
Another favorite line: I'm not bitchy. Now feed me the cherry goodness.
I had thought that in light of Buffy's concussion, I would not declare a chapter winner here. However....I was struck by exactly what Buffy has in this chapter:
*Spike carrying her around
*Spike's coat
*Spike cuddling
*Spike sniffing
*Cherry goodness jell-o (Because no one in their right mind would eat the great kind in the hospital) hand fed to her by Spike
With all that, I have to say that Buffy is made of win in this chapter. Now bring on the next one!
LMAO! This just made my day, and I absolutely love the new word. They should definitely add it to dictionaries. :D
I admit I had some trouble thinking of what would Buffy have wanted to be, and this seemed like a good choice. Also thought it would be kind of fun to have them converse about such 'normal' stuff.

Buffy definitely deserved this round. See? Once she's not blushing and in denial, she can wrap Spike around her finger so fast his head spins. He just can't resist the sight of her tears, nor can he help but lend her his coat. He's smitten more than he realizes.

And good that Spike get a taste of his own medicine. Mmmm... Spike-medicine.... That came off way dirtier than in my head. (I have a monster-cold, so naturally all medicines appeal to me at the moment, although Spike-medicine does sound really good....)

Gonna cut this short, have a killer headache. There seems to be really loud and obnoxious trolls with gongs and drums having a party in there. Oh, and an annoying just-entered-puberty-Dawn is whining somewhere in there too, something about feeling left out or something of the sorts.

I love the very first paragraph, especially the opening line "His feet hurt like hell." For someone that's supposed to be evil Spike certainly puts himself through a lot of pain for someone he apparently hates! And lending her HIS COAT?! Hello Spike?!! Big hint right there that something's going on in that heart of yours!! My inner fangirl was squealing with joy at that moment! Beautifully written and the next paragraph where he tried to turn it into a "favour for favour" was just perfect!
The conversation between them on the road was once again very true to form, and I loved the whole revealing of her childhood ambitions!! I especially liked the description of Spike's "happy sigh" at the thought of Buffy's short skirts, that vamp is a total perv - but I suppose that's why we love him half the time! And his "I'm a vampire. Grrr!" whilst holding her in his arms was just hysterical!! Seriously, forget Marni Noxon, they should've got you to write the shows episodes!!
The next scene in the hospital was absolutely gorgeous!! Buffy under the influence of pain medication is certainly a sight to behold!! The "silly grin" and giggled "it's Spike" was simply adorable. Spike trying to convince himself that he wasn't worried followed by his easy capitulation in the face of Buffy's tears was lovely (he's such a softie!!). I almost died laughing at the "dance and strip" moment. Poor Spike, he just doesn't get the respect he deserves!!
The whole falling on the bed was just priceless, and Spike's thoughts of candles and chocolate?! Oh, naughty Spike I'm blushing!!
I have to admit the hugging scene had me smiling like a goof! A very beautiful scene and you kept Spike so in character and then to follow it with Buffy asking "have you always smelt this nice?" and her threat of not returning his coat along with her reason why, "because then you'd have to stay", had me admiring your writing skill even more than I had before!!
The jell-o scene? Oh what can I say!! Tender Spike, turned on Spike, aggravated Spike, consoling Spike, extremely sexually frustrated Spike, these all add up to one very attractive and addictive vamp!! I love how his whole persona softens when faced with a weeping Buffy (Fool for Love for example!) and the fact that the sight of her tears doesn't send him packing in the opposite direction as it would a lot of other males!! And I agree with Buffy 100%, "Spike slave...that's something I wouldn't mind having." ")
Many thanks for such a stupendous chapter. Having been surrounded by the tragedy of the QLD floods for the past few days I certainly needed something to brighten my day and take my mind off reality for a while. So my heartfelt gratitude for my few minutes of oblivion!! I look forward to the next instalment with bated breath! :)

A very good observation on your part. Poor clueless Spike. He just doesn’t get that a vampire, especially one who is so adamant about hating her, should not be saving the Slayer’s life. Again. And his coat was just a nail in the coffin, wasn’t it? Something is definitely going on with his heart, but he’s confused and in denial, God bless him… but not literally, because that could have flammable consequences. I made you squeal! I love doing that!! :D
Buffy and Spike enclosed in a small space? Arguing and tension are bound to happen. And I’m so happy to hear you loved the whole childhood dream job thing! I wondered what Buffy would want to do as a child, and this struck me as pretty reasonable, but I wasn’t sure. Thank you! Haha, he is a perv! Also naughty and willing to take on any challenge. What’s a little sneak-a-peek between sworn enemies? ;) And really, Buffy wore quite short skirts in the early seasons… Spike being a male, of course he’d look. Lol Ooh, that was the biggest compliment EVER! :D You just made my day, gorgeous. Though Marti Noxon probably wouldn’t be happy to hear that. Lol
She acted pretty silly, which is why I had so much fun writing it. It’s nice to see her ‘inner child’ from time to time. Her behaviour certainly threw Spike off balance (even literally lol). He’d never seen the Slayer being all giggly, and wanting him to cuddle her no less. Imagine his horror! :D But the sight of her tears, and he’s doing what she tells him to (except for the stripping, damn it). Ah, Spike, the sucker for women. I totally giggled at you saying, ‘Poor Spike, he just doesn't get the respect he deserves!!’ SO true. LOLHee… imagine what he’d do with a bottle of chocolate sauce and his tongue. That will make you blush even more. ;)

Spike is one in a million, and what I love about him is that he’s not afraid to show his emotions- unlike the majority of the male race.
