Oh and this story better not end anytime soon either cos i dont know what i would do if it finished..
xx.

Hee... things turned out fine, didn't they? :) They talked and the air has been cleared a bit though there's still stuff they need to figure out. But we want them to be happy, don't we? I like them happy too. :)

Hee... that's very kind of you to say. ;) I'll do my best, cross my heart and hope to die!

No worries, there are still more chapters before the big finish. I estimate the final chapter on number 27 or 28, but who knows? :) Thank you for the delicious review!!! :D xx

Congratulations! In this chapter you went from having me in near tears to laughing manically. :)

That opening scene was heartrending to read. The shared hurt, confusion and emotional pain of Spike and Buffy was beautifully written and I simply loved the descriptive images you used. I especially liked "the fragile connection slipped out of his grasp and shattered, leaving him standing in the wreckage of words he hadn’t even meant". And the bit where Spike rubbed his chest only to discover that it "didn’t ease the painful pressure squeezing his heart and he didn’t know what to do to make it better" was powerful in its imagery.

Your explanation of Buffy's terror was brilliant. "That in a mere week, she came to trust him more than she’d ever trusted Angel. That Spike had made her laugh and treated her more like an equal and a woman than anyone else ever had." It would be a hard truth to face for any woman, the knowledge that a former enemy treated them as both someone to be desired and respected and had proved more trustworthy than their supposed 'one true love'.

Also, having Spike and Buffy mirroring the other's actions on each side of the door was a lovely end to the scene. The door seeming like a physical manifestation of the emotional barrier they had each thrown up between themselves, all the while longing to somehow go through it and return to the other.

The scene in the car was wonderfully played out, commencing with Spike's rather awkward attempt at an apology and Buffy's determination to ignore him. I had to laugh at Spike's "You can be a bitch though". Even whilst delivering an apology he's incapable of keeping the truth from falling past his lips.

I adored the little bit of lighthearted banter that they tossed around before they once again descended into more serious territory. And then, Spike's dawning realisation that he was in love with Buffy was magnificent to read. Your insight into how Spike loves was brilliant. "That all he was and all he had, he would give to her without wanting anything in return. Because… because he was in love with her." I believe you have completely and eloquently described the true essence of what it means to feel 'unselfish love'. I can also understand why he would be so frightened of Buffy finding out the truth. He certainly doesn't have a good history of the object of his affections treating him kindly.

That closing interaction between Spike and Buffy had me in grinning madly, especially the discussion of Spike taking "a nibble" out of any policeman foolish enough to pull them over and Buffy's attempt at concealing her amusement. Also liked Spike continually getting distracted by Buffy's bare legs and all those naughty thoughts that kept floating through his mind, the one of "an image of having them wrapped around his waist as he pounded her against a wall" had me dazed for some time considering I kept putting myself in Buffy's place! ")

Spike's rather hopeful "I bet you think I’m so gorgeous the mere sight of me makes you want to climb right into my lap and give me a happy ending" had me jumping up and down in my chair screaming "I DO!", but of course he couldn't hear me. :( I suppose I'll have to be satisfied with living my fantasy through Buffy, who must've certainly shocked Spike with her revealing "who said I was teasing". Oh Spike, I think your fantasy involving Buffy's legs being wrapped around you whilst you bring her to happy release many times over with her screaming your name in ecstasy is not too far away from happening in reality. :)

Thank you dear writer for such an emotive chapter! I do love a bit of angst thrown in as it just adds to the build up of emotions that will finally be released! ") I definitely look forward to the next chapter and the further developments between Spike and Buffy that will bring to fruition all those evocative images and fantasies with which you have been teasing us! :)

Awesome! :D At least I know you weren’t sitting there reading it and feeling bored stiff. ;)

Damn you, for always making me melt with your words! :) I swear to God it makes me giddy every time you write what lines you liked or what you liked about the chapter in particular. Thank you!! And I thought just a bit of angst was in order considering their mixed feelings and insecurities. It’s the one thing Buffy and Spike have in common… they don’t have much luck in the love department.

Yes. And even more so considering Buffy spent with Spike just a few days and she’s come to know more of who he really is than she ever knew about Angel. And she’s known Angel for a LOTlonger than that. It’s not an easy pill to swallow but maybe it’ll push her to realise Spike is much better suited for her. :)

Thank you for noticing that! That was very much intentional and a little homage to them touching through the door in Dead Things… I love that scene for so many reasons. It is a great metaphor of things standing between them but I assure you, the walls will crumble one by one the more they spend in each other’s presence. :)

Haha…that’s Spike for you. Honest in every situation. She really can be a bitch and she knows it, so it didn’t offend her. Especially when Spike pointed out he liked that part of her. ;) I think Spike’s always had a thing for bitchy women. Lol He’s a glutton for punishment!

That is very kind of you to say. :) I did try to make Spike’s feelings come off in that way- unselfish and just there. He’s not expecting anything from her, but he can’t help but love her for who she is. It’s not an easiest thing to confess though, considering his less than nice track record with women. They keep rejecting his love. :(

Hee… Buffy can’t resist Spike’s banter! ;) Of course she wouldn’t be able to push her smile back, and of course Spike would catch her trying. *g* And we won’t even mention the sight of half naked Buffy sitting next to him within touching distance. Being Spike, there’s now ay naughty images wouldn’t pop into his mind every few seconds. Lol

LOL! Who wouldn’t want to trade places?? :D At least we can live vicariously through Buffy! We’ll see if Buffy was just teasing and if she actually goes through with that. All I can say is that Spike might find himself finding just a bit of relief soon, though not in the next chapter yet. ;)

I’m glad to hear you didn’t mind the bit of angst. Sometimes you just can’t avoid and I do agree with you… it certainly adds something to any story. :) Thank you for the amazing review!!! :D
