This was a really good chapter. It is interesting how Buffy is acting. So dominating. It is funny that she does not realize how she is also tied to Spike. It will be really interesting when she finds out what type of claim she has.

Very interesting. And what the hell is wrong with Buffy? Obviously she is going a bit off the deep end here, is it a consequence of the mating/dominance ritual that happened? Maybe since she claimed him, but he didn't submit to her for the original ritual, something in her brain went a little haywire? Or maybe she is channelling some of his demon? Very good chapter, and I can't wait for more!!

Hmm the thing that bugs me about this story/claiming is that to me it feels like this Spike is someone who would submit to anyone. I mean for all I can read into his actions he would submit to Angelus if that were the case. I mean he hates Buffy in this period of the show maybe not as much as Angelus but still, the way she is dominating him is similar and I just can't picture the Spike I've seen on the show bending to anybody like that. Sure after he falls in love with her he would do it no questions asked but I don't really see him falling in love with Buffy in this story yet.

If you had just put something in the earlier part where he was falling for her for some reason or another I don't think I would have so much trouble with it.

As the man said himself "he's loves bitch" but I doubt he would be anybody elses bitch no matter how much of an inner slayer Buffy pulls out of her ass. She might have an inner slayer that is some watered down demon from a long time ago but Spikes got an actual live demon in him.

I know that it's not canon but to me the story is just changing from the time point of the start of this story and uses all that has happened on the show before that as it's background and thus making Spike the same as he was on the show. If that is not the case feel free to point that out, real soon. Based on all this to me Spike is just doing the total opposite of what I would expect him to do and to be honest I can't see a real good reason in the story yet as to why he would do it. If you had created original characters they would come with backgrounds that hopefully would explain why they do what they do but since using BtVS characters and fairly canon too, all my knowledge comes from the show and how they acted on that.

I really like your writings in general and some of your other stories are some favs of mine so it's definetly not your writing I'm complaining about, although I seem to recall you forgetting to put a "c" in black in this chapter ;). I just wish that if you make such changes to the characters from the show that you give a background to the changes and why they would do certain things.

Actually if the claim had been because they were having an intimate moment and not fighting for dominance I would probably have bought it.

To me I think she should just break him and then toss him aside cause this is a really weak Spike and not much use to her as I see it. He would undoubtedly give up Dawn if tortured by Glory and give in to the first without much effort. He's obviously very weak and therefor more of a liability than anything.

Thats probably what it comes down to for me in this story. Spike is weak I mean really weak compared to the Spike I saw on the show. Except for the fact that I don't much care for this Buffy (not that the show Buffy was much better) I can't really say that this Spike is filling me with the same compassion I had for the vampire on the show. In this story you have stripped him of one of the key things that made him Spike, the way he never breaks and that he never gives up or in to some one in authority or in a dominating position. To me I think that Spike is really closely related to the Marlon Brando in "the wild one" when asked what he's rebelling against "what have you got" paraphrasing here :). To me Spike can be divided into 2 parts the fighter, rebel and general trouble maker that don't give in to anybody but a person he loves. He might not win every fight but he will never surrender or give in. The second part being his big heart and how he loves so completly and utterly once his love is given.

So to me it comes down to the simple thing of cause and affect. I see no cause in this story for Spike to accept Buffys claim. He does not believe that she is having sex with him cause she cares about him and he don't really care about her so why would he break and accept it? When dealing with Spike and making him do as she wants there are only 1 way to go, love first then pushing him around. Once he's in love he will do whatever Buffy tells him but to get him to surender to her domination without love to me is about as believable as Tom Cruises son running through a wall of fire and coming out alive on the other side unharmed in "war of the worlds" or that the same aliens who planned that invasion for what appears to be at least a couple of hundred years can't be arsed to read up on biology and germs. That has to be the dumbest movie I've seen in a long time and it takes it self seriously too.

So in Spikes case I would say that the saying of "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegear (sp?)" is really true.

Hopefully the coming chapters will give me something that will change my mind or maybe you could point out in the story something I missed that would make it make sense to me. I have no doubt that this will be (is) an excellent story and will have a nice happy ending but still until I read the end I don't know how much this will bug me. Hopefully I can see the logic behind it soon or else I'll probably just stop reviewing since I don't think me beating a dead horse is very constructive.

I prefer character driven stories and as such I need to know why a character does certain thing and if they are acting "out of character" it really bugs me so I hope you forgive me for giving you such a hard time with it. I hope you understand my concern, it's not that Buffy beats up on Spike or that she dominates him. Even though Buffy is out of character the "inner slayer" (no matter how lame I think that is) explains what she is doing. But there is no "inner weakling" that would explain Spikes behaviour, maybe they should have put that in the challenge. Spike gets cursed and becomes a nancy boy who give in at once, just an idea I'm tossing around here.

Well enough ranting now, I'll keep reading this story but I'll probably keep my reviews down to a few words from now on. The reason I felt the need to write this one is that "the inner nancy boy" seems to have completly taken over Spike, are we ever going to see the Spike we all know and love from the show?

Well, I can't say I wasn't warned. I went ahead and read it anyway. So, I guess even if Buffy ever has the chance to deny that she's in anyway like Faith, she won't take the time to deny it.

Oh my gosh. Wow. Glad that you put in there that his claim is still a valid one, even if they don't realize it ... etc. I hope to see more go into it and be reciprocated to put them on a more even ground. Buffy needs to realize that she is just as much Spike's as he is hers. Good writing.
