I just finished this story and this chapter literally brought me to tears. So glad that Spike really listened and let Dawn vent her pain and the love tween the two is so precious. It was sad when Buffy basically barred him from the house after her return. Dawn still needed Spike so much. After Buffy returned Spike seemed to pay less attention to Dawn, as did everyone else. Just some observations. I am really looking forward to more of this special story! I love it! :)

That was sweet. I was really worried when Dawn didn't seem to recognize him, but I was glad that she got her feelings of her chest. She needed to be able to say she was angry and wanted him to be around, and he needed to hear that she loves him despite his belief that he failed her. it was such a beautifully emotionally night between the two of them, and showed how clearly they were connected over the summer and what that bond meant to both of them. That it was feeling like there was still someone in the world that they lvoed and that wanted them around.
Thank you :) Yeah, these two got a raw deal in more ways than one.

So happy that they can once again find comfort in each other, in their grief. So happy that Willow and Tara are thinking of them both. Xander on the other hand, hate Spike enough not to care all that much about Dawn and how much he means to her. Wonderfully tender chapter, thanks Space.
Yeah, in a few chapters there's gonna be a Xander confrontation.

Lots of things are gonna fly...

This is so sad! The emotions between Spike and Dawn are killing me! Is it the 147th day yet? I don't think I can take much more! (You know I will, so that is just a smoke screen)

Please continue soon!
Next chapter starts lightening up a bit...but just a tad and they will steadily get lighter and lighter...not completely without angst, but eventually twinges of sudden, sharp sadness and then all will be okay.

The Spike and Dawn interactions continue to be absolutely wonderful. You're doing an amazing job of exploring the Spike/Dawn friendship. Great update!
Yeah. I think a lot happened between them both over the summer - a lot of bonding and closeness - which was why she went so hardcore hateful after Xander let slip what happened after Seeing Red.

Well done.

Ah, the smells....there are scents I still associate with my grandparents, even after all these years, it really sticks with you.
Same here. I lost my Dad 4 years ago but I still can't go to Cracker Barrel (a resturant) or eat broccoli cheese soup.

We'd eat it just to make my Mom make her Ewwwww face.

Spike has the patience of a saint. I suppose I should remember how teenagers see the world as revolving around them!
There is a bit of that in Dawn, but like you said, she is a teen. Mostly though its just her being extremely scared of losing the last person on earth that she feels she has.

Their "Dad" abandoned them and both her Mom and her sister have died...its got to be rough...
