Too short! Also missed a good opportunity to tell us about older, grayer and dumpier Angel. Still good though.

I was just saying to Subway Spike the other day, "Darling, don't you think Spike in Ms. Clawdia's story is swimming in the big river, just a little bit?" And he said, "Absolutely, pet, it's obvious he's still in love with Buffy. Do you want me to go beat him up a bit?" Just so you know, I talked him out of it; I distracted him by asking him to do that twirly thing with the broken subway pole. Hotness! Just like this absolutely adorable story! I cried when I read about Anne. Brilliant story, by the way. Most writers would not be able to resist the urge to make all these past things in the now, but this is ever so much more real. Stuff happens, especially over such a long stretch of time. Thanks ever so much for writing!

Nope, Spike will always love Buffy if she is alive (and a long time when she is not too I think). Angel was so oblivious to Buffy's disappointment, just as he would have been on the show. He had moved on in LA even on the show but was like a dog with a bone where Buffy was concerned. I can completely see him "moving on" and not even noticing the pain that caused Buffy.

Hmmm ... so it sounds like the risk of a S6 Buffy is equally present here - all glum and self-loathing. Nice touch. But Spike is certainly different. Here's hoping that makes the difference.

She is right about that, she still is the same Buffy and she's the one that's going to have to start changing. The world and everyone in it has changed over the last thirty years, but this is Buffy, she still can be the same bitch she always was if she wants. It won't help but it never did.
