Whoa! Callous Angel - his cocky comments are very fitting! Loved Spike all bewildered, finding himself in a mystery room! Look forward to what happens next..

I was reading the other comments, and someone mentioned that Angelus (here and in the canon) could have just killed Buffy right after he lost his soul. Obviously, he could have, but the quick kill has never been Angelus' style. Spike likes "fists and fangs" fighting. Get in, kill something, get out. Angelus likes to take things slowly, to torture, to torment. Look at Drusilla. He could have killed her quickly, but he killed her entire family first, played up her fear of being evil because she was psychic, drove her crazy, and THEN killed her. He considers Drusilla his masterpiece, and turns her so that he can admire his own work forever. Spike likes instant gratification. Angelus prefers to drag things out. So, I think you have Angelus acting completely true to character.

Maggie really was creepy with her ideas and beliefs. Not to mention the lengths she was willing to go to for "research". I'm thinking Spike is going to be in for a cruel shock when he realizes just how much danger he's in

Damn, and I was so hoping those chips wouldn't exist yet (pouts). Poor Spike- it just keeps getting worse. And Buffy, I wonder how she'll get tied in. Saving Spike somehow? Revenge, perhaps? It's all good :D

The scene with Buffy and Angel was beautifully done.
Something I always wondered about the show, and now your version, though - why doesn't he kill her in this moment of confusion. If he'd just taken her in his arms, he could have drained her dry in a matter of moments. She'd be too surprised to fight at first, then probably too weakened.

When Angel told Buffy to just let the most important night of her life go, I was reminded of Spike's best night of his life holding Buffy and Buffy's subsequent, "Does it have to mean anything?" Up to this point, Angel and Buffy had shared all sorts of special moments, but sex was something new to share together. In the cannon, Buffy and Spike shared all sorts of sex together, but comforting each other was the new thing to share together. And they both had the most important night of their lives casually dismissed :P Looking forward to more angst.

Note: Angel's apartment did have a window. We see the sunlight shining through it in Season 1 when Angel finds Darla snooping in his apartment. She makes a comment about him living above ground like he's a human. I'm not sure if it was completely above ground or a basement apartment. Although, the writers did tend to change little details to suit their purposes, so the apartment could have been moved underground at some point :P

Awesome chapter DoS. I thought Blood Bound couldn't be topped and you come out with BHNM and when I thought that was good, you come out with a story that has my attention from the first line. You're awesome DoS.

Well that's new! Packing as he says goodbye? Poor Spike, has no idea what they've done to him. First his ho bag of a girl friend just leaves him in the dirt and then the soldiers defang him. All in all, a very bad day. How does the Buffy/Riley scenario work? Or doesn't it? Great job, DOS, it's really coming along.

I love the parallels between Buffy and Spike, thrust into such different hells. I can't wait to see how they (eventually) find their way out again!

Yeah, the movie's on DVD, but we only found it by buying it at the time. It's been a while, so they very likely could have changed. Hope you find it!

Oh oh bad things afoot for our pair....

I always felt so sorry for Buffy that morning after....UNTIL...she did much the same to Spike in Wrecked. She KNEW how much it hurt and pulled an Angelus anyway! However, I digress.

Maggie Walsh and her Initiative was always to worst of the Big Bad's in my opinion because, as humans, they should have been above the things they did....pulling wings off of flies, etc. It was humanity at the Nazi level (and didn't Joss imply that on AtS with having it be Nazi's that started it all to begin with?!?! ) Spike was in their grip back in WWII and later in Sunydale, how ironic.

Excellent update. I am soooo impressed that you are putting out several top drawer stories all at the same time. Really, I am in awe! Not a one is suffering for the other either (except poor Spike suffering in all of them *G*)

Ooo! Ooo! Have you seen "Demon Under Glass"? It's an independent film about a serial killer (vampire) who ends up taken in by a govt. scientific operation similar to how the Initiative could have started, and they do all kinds of tests, ask questions, research, etc. to prove if this serial killer is really something else, or just a pscho that drinks blood, and then learn all they can before eventually terminating the "project", since they can't just throw him in prison for the murders. The scientist ends up conflicted, though, because he gets to know the vampire (who's quite smart) and starts to feel bad about the experiments they subject him to. It becomes a question of who's the bigger monster......low budget, but a really good script.

Spike's wake-up just reminded me of it...
