Thanks! Tragedy can bring out the best in people, but it can also bring out the worst. Xander strikes me as someone who would fall into the second category, at least where interactions with Spike are concerned.

Hate Harris. Spike should bite him. So hard to see him broken like that but glad Dawn finally got through to him. Hope he stays with her at the house and really burn Harris. Like where you're going with this. Looking forward to more, thanks.
Thanks! I think it's fair to say that no one's at their best at this point in the timeline, but yeah... Xander getting bitten wouldn't be undeserved.

have to love dawn. didn't think i could dislike xander more than i already did. wrong. very good read, thank you
Dawn's one of my favorite characters, which I know isn't a universal sentiment in the fandom, but I'm glad you're liking my take on her in this fic, because she's going to be popping up quite a bit. Thanks for the review!

God this is a heart wrenching chapter (and excellent for that). How Xander could possibly deny the reality of Spike's emotions after this would be beyond me to understand. I think Giles gets it already even if he can't articulate it yet.
I know you'll explain how they stopped his burning up from the Holy Water but I admit being curious as all get out.
Hope there WILL be a Spuffy outcome in fact at the end of this one but love the look at that in between time that you've begun to paint with this story.
I love your stories, your imagery and use ancient touchstones like this current use of the Book of the Dead (and HOW appropriate is THAT given that not only if Buffy dead but so is Spike, yet not either truly are...)
Ready for more!

Everything is still in the beginning stages -- and it's still completely gripping. You capture the intensity of the emotions well. So far we have no more than intriguing hints of Spikes' changes -- I can't wait to see how this all unfolds.
It seems to take me forever to get all the pieces in place in my fics, which I guess isn't a bad thing. I'm glad you're liking it so far! Thanks!
