Just got back to work and read the update and I must say...Wow! I knew Spike was up to something! Ha, ok I didn't really know per say, but I really really hoped he was telling a fib about being mated. Great installment, babes. As always, eagerly anticipating the next chapter!

I don't think Spike screwed up. And I don't think Clem should be blaming him. It's time Buffy take responsibility. All she needed to do was to try to find him. He would have heard she was looking. Sitting on her butt for 3 years when she chased Spike out of town doesn't give her the high ground. I don't blame him for trying to protect his heart. And Buffy trying to hit him first thing doesn't endear her to him either. It just proves that he was right to protect himself. She's acting very spoiled as if she's entitled to Spike's love when she hasn't done anything to nurture it.

Oooh, that stupid lying Spike! He's just making more trouble for himself. Once Buffy finds out the truth, I doubt she'll let him get away with that, even if she does love him. Great chapter!

Okay. I am just glad that Spike does not have a mate, but he had to know that it would not go over well. And how can he deny Clem's words when she practicly threw herself at him when she came through the door. I am glad that he listened to Clem aobut it.

This makes all kinds of sense. He didn't look like someone who was missing a mate or a spouse, and it's hard to believe Spike would make that kind of commitment to someone he didn't love.

I like what you are doing with this fic. When I'm in a "go Spuffy" mood, lines like "I have a wife" feel like a dagger to the heart. When I'm in a "Buffy is too much of a bitch for my sweet Spike" mood, then I just love that line. In this fic, though, that line makes both sides of me pretty darned happy. Buffy gets knocked off her high horse, but he's not really moved on.

Well thanks for the explanation. However,why in the world would you have Spike behave so stupidly. His reasoning is totally ludicrous. If he really loved Buffy as much as he says he does he would not have done something so hurtful. It will be interesting to read how you get them back together without either party become destroyed. Thanks for the update. Althoug, I totally hate Spike's actions I do like your story.

Oh, but first she needs to find out he lied about being mated. For I wouldn't repect her if she tried to win him back by acting like the other woman. But then, he'd have to face a few of his loved ones who trusted him and deal with his big lie and WHY he lied to begin with. Oh Glynis, I'm so happy you did that. I held out a little hope that he wasn't telling the truth but he said it so fast, not pausing for one second. It came out to natually to hope he lying. Thank you for having Clem tell him the truth,now for Giles to set Buffy straight and let these two have their moment before the the days are up. Do these demons know that Spike will fight by her side or do they just think he's there join in the chaos? So glad I'm going to read it again. Love this so much, thanks.

Glad to have it confirmed that Spike's mate is all smoke and illusion. Not too happy that Buffy tried to hit him. Not completely hating this version of Dawn. (An amazing feat!)

I am so loving you right now, It was a lie, thank god, I hate to see the hurt like that.

But Dawn was right his mate not be a female, and whats this working for the Council if Giles knew and Clem knew and it was affectting Buffy why not bring him home sooner and is he still working for the council and I also hope if he was getting paid or still is then Buffy better be too, since they are doing the same job.
I can actually think to review, not just say I hate he is mated and might not read it much longer. I waited it out just like you said.

the good news is, Spike is back in my good graces! THANK YOU!! :) The bad news is, I still feel the need to whoop him upside the head, but it's nothing I can't simply remind myself about that he IS human after all... ;)

the other bad news is, I'm really not liking Dawn, but that's pretty typical for me. :P

Oh, silly Spike and how smart of Clem to point out how Spike pulled an Angel and opened his eyes to what Buffy has been waiting for over the last three years. Now, he will see that it wasn't her typical smack coming his way...it was not the slayer hitting out at the evil bad vampire....no, it was the hurt woman smacking at the one she'd come to love and felt betrayed by. Now will he lose his Buffy, by protecting Dawn who is being used as a pawn to get at the slayer....hmmmmm. Great chapter honey and I soo need more soon, LOL
