Chapter: Rumblings of Things to Come

Know one ever gave any thought to Spike's worth as far as researching. As you mentioned, he did have an Oxford education. Not at all the rubbish the Council chose to write about him. Giles forgets about that. I'd always wanted them to form a friendship. As the elders of this group, well educated Brits, it shouldn't be that hard for them. They have more in common then any of them. Great chapter, thanks.
My impression from the show was that the Council knew little if anything about Spike's history as a human. So, Giles probably never knew he was educated, unless Spike told him. I agree, the two of them seem like they could bond easily. There were hints of it happening over the summers (Giles saying "I watched Passions with Spike" the summer between s4 and s5, and their camaraderie at the beginning of s6) but not so much during the show.

Excellent chapter. Probably the funniest. The dynamic between all the characters was perfect. It felt almost like reading an episode. Only better cause, well, cute Spuffy.
Hee, thanks! I always try to keep the "episode" feel, but this is definitely a lot lighter than the story's been lately.

hmmm...very good chapter, noticing that your dialogue is absolutely flawless.. :) great job with the spike and buffy friendship, developing sweetly, if a bit awkwardly :) very excellent chapter, love :)
Aww, thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

I love this story. This was a wonderful chapter that had me laughing rather loudly in some parts. I also loved your use of the "paranoid" quote. I love that quote. :D

"Paranoid? Probably. But just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that there isn't an invisible demon about to eat your face." :P

Great story and I'm looking forward to the next part.
It's one of my favorite quotes, too. Also - "I never could resist going to the aid of a lady in distress, even if she wasn't completely, 100% certain she wanted to be rescued by me." Hee.

Glad you're enjoying the story! Thanks for the review.

Oh that is good, ancient greek and latin, and Willow was doing old french.
I am not sure now if I can speak new french or old french.

More please love it.
Heh, nobody speaks old French anymore... just like nobody speaks old English or ancient Greek (except scholars). Thanks for the review!

Someone after Spike again... he was right. And hopefully Buffy will be able to save his arse or he able to save hers.. seems like both are in trouble. Magic is never good.

Enjoying.
Well, technically, not after Spike again... Spike's just sort of in the way of evil plans. But still, probably won't lead to good...

Thanks for the great chapter :D . Nice to see Spike being treated nicely by the gang.
Thanks! It's about time Spike was welcomed into the group - he's already taken a beating for Dawn, helped out all summer, saved Buffy from dying (more than once), and dusted his sire to save her. I think he's earned a little respect, grudging though it may be.

Ha! Knew David was fishy!!!

Buffy, men don't like being told they need protection - reference the times you offended Xander in high school for breaking the guy code? Spike can take care of himself unless he's grossly outnumbered.

She should be honest with Dawn. Dawn isn't a kid, and she could help share the burden, if she knows what it is. At 15, she can work a part time job, and the responsibility would be good for her.
Thanks for the review! Yeah, that upset Riley, too, whenever Buffy acted like he was weaker than her and needed her protection. But I think Spike is secure enough to take it as a gesture of concern, and not as an indication that he's weak.

Buffy should be honest with Dawn... but you know how she's very possessive with her burdens. Buffy always seems to feel like everything is her sole responsibility, and hates to have help (maybe because *she's* not as secure about being weak).

Lovely update. AHA....so they plan to separate Buffy and SPike...well after what Spike said I think Buffy will be watching over him a bit. Might make that plan a bit hard to follow through on.

Love the nonchalance of Spike letting his background as an educated man out for all to hear.

It's a funny thing about Spike - they seem to know all about his history as a vampire (the better to condemn him with), but never really gave any thought to his past as a human. I'm sure Spike is protective of the embarrassing parts, but he'll cop to an education because it makes him useful to the group. Thanks for the review!
