What ever Spike does, it always involves Dawn. That's been the whole problem with Buffy, she's always wanted normal, but she isn't normal. Even this Buffy has to see it. She's with who she's meant to be with, in either world! Hope Buffy gets to see William in Spike, if she's around him long enough. Great chapter, thanks.

Thanks! Part of what I want both Buffies to see is that William and Spike definitely have pieces of each other left in there.

“She needs a little normal in her life, but not to the extent this buffy thinks. very good read.

Thanks. Finding the balance between normal and not is the real trick for Buffy.

Nuts to Dawn - we love Dubl Spuffy. Interesting how Other Buffy can talk to Vampire Spike. Maybe she can knock some sense into that thick skull.

Thanks! And re: Other Buffy and Spike, that is the hope :)

I wouldn't think for a second that Spike has stopped loving Dawn; I don't believe that is in his chemical make-up, and I wouldn't be surprised that you feel the same way. However, I totally agree that Spike would prefer to leave Dawn back in Sunnydale. She would be sulky and angry for a bit, but she would no doubt enjoy herself with the Scoobies afterwards.

I enjoyed this chapter, and I like how even though non-canon Buffy (well, the least canon Buffy) may love Spike, she still doesn't understand how he can be loved as a soulless vampire. Also, great job in making her feel miserable there too. I often wondered how being ripped of heaven could be the entire problem, seeing as in S7, she was pretty much fine. If her heavenly problems were the total issue, she shouldn't have been able to have recovered so quickly.

Great job, and I am eager for more:)

Thanks. I agree that Spike still cares about Dawn. He's just stopped paying much attention to her now that Buffy is back, which is unfortunate.

The other Buffy barely knew Spike as a vampire is a big part of it. He was cursed right after 'Something Blue', so she never saw the vampire change on his own. And given their history up to that point...

Thanks for all the great feedback.

Good chapter.Update soon.Well at least Buffybot isn't a robot for alternate purposes like in the "real" universe.I wonder why OU!Spike would have to say about that.

Thanks. I'm working on the last piece of the next chapter, so hopefully not too long before an update.

She needs normal in her life, ok that sounds so much like Angel.

I like the travelling around the world, after all how can she repeatedly save the world from one spot.

Will Buffy be willing to leave without Dawn is the question, or her friends, but I don't think she will say much about leaving her friends.

She repeatedly saves the world from one spot because there's a massive hellmouth there. And it's essential to who Buffy is that she needs some normal in her life. I realize that not everyone agrees with this take on Buffy.

I don't know, I get the feeling our Buffy isn't as normal-wanting as other Buffy. But I think you're right on the money with the whole Dawn thing. Spike is like Dawn's third irresponsible vacating dad, after Hank and Giles. Can't wait for next chappie.

Thanks! I think it's central to who Buffy is that she needs some normalcy in her life. Slayers without a normal grounding end up wild like Faith or vulnerable like Kendra. The 'normal' things that Buffy has have served her well. She lets go of the good parts of normal for a lot of S6 and gets stuck dealing with the sucky aspects of normal: paying bills, crap jobs, etc. Other Buffy gets has some of the better parts of a normal life: friends, family, stability. 'Our' Buffy would benefit tremendously from finding those things. The question is whether she can do that.

Sorry if that was long-winded!

Glad you agree about Dawn. Spike is certainly fond of her, but part of the reason my Dawn is so snarky is that, like you pointed out, Spike is not exactly the first guy to disappear on her. She'll get a chance to make her feelings known next chapter.

I hope Spike points out that he has been attempting to give her normal, but Buffy keeps pushing for isolation and the mundane.

My only thought would be that.. the shower scene, where AU Buffy breaks down to the point where she goes to talk to Spike, felt a bit rushed. I personally enjoy emotional moments- good, bad, ugly or pretty, and like to savor them :D

I must respectfully disagree. Spike does not try to give Buffy normal. In fact, he increasingly encourages her to forgo normal and be part of 'his' world. In fact, a big point of this story is that Buffy isn't the only one who could stand to get her head screwed on a little straighter :)

I should have been clearer, but Other-Buffy isn't seeking Spike out after the shower. He's just there when she goes out to think. And she's a little surprised because that's something 'her' Spike would do.

Thanks for the feedback!
