Chapter: Strong Enough

The wonder of slayers blood. Of course Xander just can't help himself. When will he learn Spike stays, when everyone else is gone, Spike stays. I feel bad though, that Spike/William still gave into Dru, even with his love for Buffy, he still gave in to her! Their plans to keep Buffy occupied, sure has worked, hasn't it? Easier to read then the last one, they still have a long way to go, great read, thanks.
Spike still has a lot of Dru issues. I mean, you don't just one day stop loving the person you've loved for a hundred years.

And yeah, that was a pretty good distraction... score one for the bad guys.

maybe feed xander to "the Glarghk guhl kashma’nik" and then let spike capture it? love the chapter, thank you.
Nah, it doesn't eat people. It'd just throw him back.

GOD, that jerk! Xander, Spike was poisoned! He didn't know what was happening or even if it was a hallucination of Buffy. It was a freaky dream and because her blood snapped him out of it, he was able to get her home safely and head out to get the antidote! Why does everyone have to assume Spike is exactly like Angel instead of actually seeing who Spike himself is?
I really hope Buffy stands up for Spike, in the next chapter, instead of just saying they won't stake him for biting her and forget it. She could try to explain instead of giving in to believing her friends will always hate him and think she's wrong. That's what could make them hurt him behind her back. Looking forward to next chapter
Well, I guess it depends on how Buffy feels about things when she wakes up...

Great chapter. I hope Buffy wakes up soon and tells them that she won't stake Spike for biting her.
How do you know she'll say that? She was hallucinating through most of it... she probably knows less about what happened than the Scoobies do.

interesting bit of revelation from Xander, there.
Hopefully they'll realize that Spike didn't mean to bite Buffy...
I think the important question is whether Buffy realizes it...

OH I am glad he is out of it, I wonder what the ritual is.
It's a purification ritual, part of David's "rise to power," or so says chapter 8.

And at some point, Xander, you have to grow up and place the blame where it truly belongs, and leave it there. It wasn't Spike's fault he bit her.
There's no accounting for people's issues, and Xander's definitely got some to work through.

Hum....Xander with insight into his own problem with Spike....unexpected! Kind of like it that he isn't oblivious to the why's though even if he has no intention of being fair.

Nice chapter. Hope Buffy doesn't react the same way to the bite.

Xander never seemed oblivious to me. He's always had a very set view of vampires. I think it started right at the beginning with having to stake Jesse - he clings to the idea that vampires can't ever be good to justify killing his friend. Angel reinforced that with his split personality deal, but Spike challenges it by showing that even soulless vamps can change. So, every time Spike does something "evil," Xander latches onto it as proof of his beliefs, even though the reasons have little to do with Spike himself.

Spike's never going to get a glimmer of understanding from Xander.
He did, almost, a few chapters back, which is what makes this moment more tragic to me. They'd started to be grudgingly accepting of each other - Xander stopped complaining that Spike was hanging around, and they even found a common interest in the comic book superheroes. They weren't exactly swapping friendship bracelets, but the animosity seemed to be fading.

hmmm...that was actually refreshingly honest and perceptive of xander, to recongize that...i could have pictured those lines being in the actual show :) this chapter was excellent, love it :) can't wait to see what happens next :)
I always thought Xander knew why he hated Spike - and he's not really being dishonest about it when he calls Spike a killer and a monster. He really wants to believe that, because he can't accept that individual vampires have varied personalities. They're all the same - all evil, all killers. Even Angel, good guy with a soul, went evil, so why should Spike be any different? Thanks for the lovely review!
