I had tears in my eyes the entire story. That was beautiful. I wish Spike would come back to her.

Thanks. :-)

WOW this was just gut wrenching.  I LOVE your writing!  You get the emotional subtext so well.

Buffy would have jumped right into denial of some sort be it that he wasn't dust or that she didn't love him or some other tale to help her survive...that's Buffy.  I like that you had her cling to the truth of her love.

This even could tie into the abomination that is the comc season 8!  If she is "Flourishing" and didn't know he was back it would be a logical progression.

Lovely, just lovely.

You managed to bring both sadness and resolution in your story--not an easy thing to achieve! I liked how you added little twists in your conversations between Buffy and Dawn to resolve some of the negative things that Joss put into the canon story. Your Spuffy version was much better!

Heart-wrenching and beautiful. Buffy = Cleopatra, and I love how she consistently cuts off anyone who suggests that Spike is gone, until she just can't deny it any more. The flashbacks that eventually morph into something else are a nice progress of their relationship. Very nice work.

I really like this. I can just imagine Buffy's insistence that Spike couldn't be dead because he promised never to leave her. She's nothing if not the Queen of Denial. I like the way you've incorporated S8 Comic canon with the reference to Scotland. Don't suppose you plan a sequel for when Buffy learns of Spike's return?

That was so sad! But very nicely done.

I never noticed that Buffy stared at him when he grabbed the sword during that episode. Hmmm. Anyway, great fic. Poor Buffy, I really felt for her in this.
