Believe it or not, I thought the universe really needed another fill-in-the-blank-between-Smashed-and-Wrecked fic. Actually, I started with Smashed and went off in my own direction from there. So here's where the plot starts creeping in. There's a bunch of Willow and Dawn in this chapter, plus lots more Buffy and Spike, but mostly in a fluffy/hopeful/kinky way.

So there I was, writing good old PWP when a plot bunny landed with thwack! and demanded that Drenched get a storyline that involved more than sex. The character Britta first appeared Mel Odom's contribution to Tales of the Slayer, Vol. 1. I don't own her just like I don't own Buffy and Spike and Sunnydale, but I'm going to borrow her to make a whole lot of trouble. ;)

A little more Spuffy, a little more of that new Big Bad and one more new player in town ... plus a lot of that boring justification that Buffy has to do about her relationship with Spike.

Previously - Buffy and Spike get it on. Lots. Willow finds out, freaks, moves out. Dawn finds out. Does not freak and can't move out because, hello, teenager? But she wouldn't if she could. New Big Bad in Sunnydale. Plus some new guy opening up a gym and lookin' to hire a self defense instructor.

Just the tiniest little bit of sex in this installment - lots and lots of plot.

So here's the next piece - thanks so much to everyone for sticking with this as it evolves from porn with some plot to plot with some porn ... is that a category? Anyway, I'm apologetic that I can't quite recall the song lyric that inspired the title of this chapter - maybe the Verlaines? Am now re-listening to every possible candidate on my iPod and will post once my memory catches up ... The references to other slayers in Willow's book are, like Britta Kessler herself, borrowed from Tales of the Slayer, volumes 1 through 3.

Buffy bonds with Xander and Giles gets in the mix. Plus a few more hints about Britta's dastardly plan. Oh, and sex. Of course.

The Slayer is finally on the job, but is it too little too late? And what *are* the bad guys about now?

On the homefront, Spike delivers a drunk Dawn back to Revello and gives Buffy (another) piece of his mind. Elsewhere in our plot, Buffy meets Jay and finds out what he's about - more or less - and the Council rears its tweedy noggin. Slayer history courtesy of Tales of the Slayer, Volume II - Laura J. Burns and Melinda Metz' story Abomination. And the chapter title is from a Guy Clark lyric from "I Don't Love You Much Do I."

Things get a little ugly between our star-crossed lovers here ... but stand by, because in between all that misery, Giles arrives in Sunnydale (yeah!) and we find out more about Jay. The title is, of course, a lyric from the Smashing Pumpkins song "Tonight, Tonight."

We get some answers, or at least the Council's version, and one more surprsing revelation. Spike is out of the loop for now, but he'll (duh) be back.

The title is a nod to the Misfits' Where Eagles Dare.
