There was no body to bury. There was no funeral. There was nothing but the three rules and the knowledge that a thousand years of torment was nothing compared to a world without her in it. Spike embarks on a journey through the Gates of Hell to rescue the one he loves, but in order to save her, he must risk losing himself.

This follows on from where my fic "Spike’s Will Be Done" left off and is pretty much a sequel to that story, so things will only really make sense if you read it first. For those of you who are wondering why the spelling of colour in the title doesn't agree with standard UK usage like the rest of the story, it's because it refers to the song by Cyndi Lauper, who of course spelled it the American way in her lyrics. Thanks go out to my two betas MadRog and t_geyer, without whom, no one other than me would be reading this. Before they came on board, this was just one chapter running to two hundred plus pages. They helped to sort out a workable structure and are currently giving me the necessary prompting to expand on certain plot lines raised within the story so far.

Set post-NFA by several years, Buffy has mourned Spike and moved on. She gets a request from Dawn for some assistance, and decides to pay a visit. She finds more than she expected - and less than she might have wanted. Is the ghost Spike? What will happen to him if he remembers who he is? Also, since she came back from her ‘I just sent Angel to Hell’ sojourn in L.A, Buffy has had a major life-changing experience.

Three months after that final battle in "Not Fade Away", Giles and Andrew take a trip to L.A. to do their own investigation on what happened that night. A lucky break leads them to someone they thought was surely lost forever. In the midst of heartache and trials fraught with revenge and the consequences, can true love find its way? Now posting TWO chapters daily. Odd numbered chapter will be the second of those posted.

Ok, here’s the sitch. It’s early in a Season V that has been tweaked to suit my purposes. Spike hasn’t had his little revelation about his feelings for Buffy, and she, of course, is clueless. Riley has had his surgery and begun his macho identity crisis. Joyce and Dawn won’t be mentioned because they aren’t part of this story. Riley has gone back to Iowa for an extended leave, partly to recover from his surgery and partly to figure out what he wants to do next. He was apprehensive about being gone from Buffy for so long, and not at all reassured when she tells him she will take Spike with her for extra muscle if he’s so worried about her. He reminds her of her words to him before he lost the enhancements that were killing him, when she told him that if she “wanted somebody with super powers, I’d be dating Spike!” She rolls her eyes at his implication and they do not part on the best of terms. Many thanks to Oracle Holly for her read overs and suggestions as I struggled with how to get the story going. *hugs* Holly. AU, Post-Season Four, as it would be *remembered* by Buffy post-season five... meaning it includes Dawn :). Following the Maggie Walsh/Adam situation, the Initiative was not shut down, but simply placed under new leadership. That was all Riley would tell Buffy before he left her to re-join the Initiative. Around the same time, Spike disappeared, all evidence pointing to his being re-captured by the Initiative. One year later, the Initiative has successfully eliminated almost all of Sunnydale’s vampires and demons, leaving Buffy free to finally enjoy the sort of “normal” life she’s always wanted. Sounds great, right? Could it be too good to be true? (Come on, what do *you* think? hehe)

Goes AU during Not Fade Away. Despite the arrival of the Slayer army, the final battle with the Circle of the Black Thorn goes terribly wrong. Buffy and Spike are given a chance to change the course of history and save the world. But will they be willing to pay the price? 

After sharing her night of passion with Angel, Buffy is thrown into a situation she never thought possible beyond her wildest dreams. Forced to learn to live with the changes within herself, she finds comfort and understanding in someone she never had thought of as anything but a monster.

After the final battle, Spike and Angel are transported to the PTB courtroom. One of them will Shanshu and one of them will end up in Buffalo to face Buffy and help her get her heart and soul back. Except there is a catch: Spike arrives in Buffalo in 2014! Betad by Mabel Marsters.

Goes AU during Bargaining. Willow's spell goes awry, leaving Buffy incorporeal, and visible only to Spike. With the Scoobies convinced that Spike has lost it, how can he help Buffy get back where she belongs?

A Work In Progress – Summary: Crossover with AtS. Canon through the end of Buffy, Season Six. Canon for Angel through Season Three. Many relationships will be discussed or alluded to here, but the focus will be on Spike-centric relationships. This picks up several months after Grave and goes AU after that. It focuses heavily on the evolving nature of relationships – family, friendship, and romance. Humor, Angst, Drama and whatever else strikes me as we go.
