Out of the Frying Pan, Into the fire

Chp.3

Some Q&A

Information is so overrated

Buffy slowly pushes herself away from the chest she's been clinging to and crying on for the past ten or so minutes.

"Buffy? Luv?" William loosens his grip on her tiny frame.

Tears run down her face as she looks up into his blue eyes. Hers showing him the misery that she feels.

He tentatively reaches up and brushes one of the tears off of her cheek, as it makes its way to her chin to drip off. He catches the tiny, wet crystal on the pad of his thumb, he starts to pull away, but his hand is caught by her hand, and pulled back to lie against her cheek again.

Amazement briefly passes over her face. "Spike, you're warm." She whispers, rubbing her fingers over the warm flesh residing on her cheek.

"Yeah, Kitten. I am, guess it's 'cause I'm human in this godforsaken place." He replies smiling the smile that always made her breath catch in her chest, even when she despised him that look made her knees go weak.

"How did. . . What are. . . How did we get here?" She stutters, her mind in a huge jumble, since she awoke in this place. Nothing had made any sense. Her mind had scattered, as soon as she'd looked in that corner. Her gaze had wandered over to the same corner.

Then she realizes that Spike has his arms wrapped around her, he was standing in front of her. Her head whips back around to gaze at him again. He was in the loony bin with her, and in some weird way that made sense to her, he had always been crazy, and this just proved it.

But god, it was so good to see his face, even if it was because of some strange delusion. She'd rather be here, than in a world where he didn't exist any longer. Also, a perk, a very big perk in this delusion the man she loves is human.

Spike still stands there, watching the emotions play across her face, reading every one of her expressions as if they were written down in a book. He smirks, and takes the chance to release her with one hand, to run it through his hair. Which in turn makes the curls stick up more than they are already.

She looks up again, right into that unmistakable blue gaze. Her hand drops from the one that she held tightly placed against her face, and throws herself back into his embrace, his arms find their way around her waist. " Never thought I'd see you again." She sobs as she hugs him as tightly as she can without her slayer strength. .

She embraces him so tightly that it's becoming hard to breathe. "Buffy? I'm a bit human now, I might need some air here, Pet." He gasps, as he feels her grip loosen on him. He takes a deep lungful of air.

As she lets go of him yet again, "Lets go over and sit down. I need you tell me how you got caught up in this crazy world, and why we're in the same crazy house." She says, grasping his hand and pulling him over to the edge of the bed.

Sitting down beside of her, he scrubs his face with his now freed hands. "Always wanted to be in your room, on your bed." He didn't mean to let that slip. "Damn, sorry, pet. Didn't mean to.." He gives up with a sigh.

She sits on the edge of the bed, with one foot under her butt, and studies him as he does the same with her. She hadn't been expecting that lit tid-bit, but this is Spike, so anything was bound to come spewing out of his mouth at any opportune time. She decides to go with the old standard stand-by. "You're a pig, Spike."

Spike smiles, brightly, and shakes his head. Well that had broken the ice nicely, now he had to be all serious guy again.

"I don't rightly know what the bleeding hells going on here, Buffy," he states flatly."Everyone in this place thinks I'm some bloke named William Osbourne, jokes on them though, not even my real name." he can't help but smirk at the humility of it."Anyway, I go along with so they'll leave me alone." He takes a deep breath, smirk still fixed on his face. "We'll suss it out, Buffy. That's what us hero types do. Atleast, that's what hero types like you do." The smirk turns into a full blown smile.

"I don't know Spike, there at the end you were the only one who really helped." She says, as she tries to explain,"I mean you were the only one who really had my back. You made it all seem worth while, even when they threw me out of my own house, you could've stayed there where it was safe, but you came for me." A lone tear slides down her cheek. "It didn't matter what I did, you were always there, and you don't know how..." Her voice cracks and she can't finish the sentence, but she looks up in his eyes, and what she was trying to say was written there for him to see.

She pulls herself together, plastering a smile on her face. "Osbourne, huh? I wonderif you're any relation to Oz." Typical Buffy reaction, it gets to serious to where she can't handle it, she changes the subject.

He can't help but roll his eyes, and look questioningly at her."Dog boy? HMM. I don't know haven't met the family yet." He answers, playing along for the time being. He gives her his patented annoying smirk. The one that used to make seethe with anger, and want to punch him just to get it off of his face, now her only reaction is to smile. She thought that she'd never get to see any of his annoying habits again.

(Hope you guys enjoyed this little update.)
