Spike sobers up after Lovers Walk and wonders why he wants to go back to a cheating Dru anyway. Buffy, meanwhile, tries to get a handle on a future that won’t include Angel. Can two broken hearts find an island of comfort in each other’s arms and then just walk away?

One of those coulda beens...sigh! Holiday schmoop. It takes place between "Wrecked" and "Gone" in season 6. "Wrecked" is the last episode aired before Christmas that year and "Gone" was aired after the New Year.

Spike finds Buffy at the Bronze on New Year’s Eve and helps her put her life into perspective a little, along with discussing what happened between them over the course of the prior days and weeks. After Spike leaves, Buffy has a change of heart and goes to his crypt, wanting to celebrate the best way she can. Set after “Wrecked”.

Begins at the end of the episode "Fool For Love" (Season 5). What if Buffy hadn't kept completely silent when Spike sat down next to her? What if she had asked him to stay and opened up to him, even a little?

This follows on from where my fic "Spike’s Will Be Done" left off and is pretty much a sequel to that story, so things will only really make sense if you read it first. For those of you who are wondering why the spelling of colour in the title doesn't agree with standard UK usage like the rest of the story, it's because it refers to the song by Cyndi Lauper, who of course spelled it the American way in her lyrics. Thanks go out to my two betas MadRog and t_geyer, without whom, no one other than me would be reading this. Before they came on board, this was just one chapter running to two hundred plus pages. They helped to sort out a workable structure and are currently giving me the necessary prompting to expand on certain plot lines raised within the story so far.

Goes AU immediately after Spike leaves the bathroom in Seeing Red. After nearly committing an unspeakable crime against the woman he loves, Spike faces the ordeal of his unlife when Robot-Boy Warren discovers what his chip does and how to control it. Will Buffy be able to help him? Will she even *want* to? A/N: This story was inspired by two great fics which used the same idea, “Chain” by irfikos, and “Leashing the Beast” by Nos. This idea has been done many times, I know, but I’ve had my own ideas about it for some time and thought I’d give it a try. WARNING: Very very dark pretty much throughout the story. Involves torture, non-con m/m slash (not graphic, mostly implied), very disturbing. Spike is very badly victimized in this story. Will be Spike/Buffy pairing eventually, but will take a little while to get there.
