Zodiacs and Buffyverse

Feb 14 2007 05:16 pm   #1The Space Between

Ok, so in one thread a few of us have Spike pegged as a typical Scorpio - passionate, emotional, feels things deeply, jealous, competitive, his emotions governs his actions...

We also know that Buffy, given the date of her birthday, is a Capricorn - responsible, organized, ambitious, a doer of action, loyal and suffers from false pride and insecurity and can be possessive and jealous.

So what about the others? Who thinks the others fit certian types of the zodiac?

I think Willow fits Pisces - intuitive, sensitive, spiritual, has a thirst for knowledge, vulnerable and has an addictive personality.

Xander, to me is a Gemini - sharp witted (sarcastic humour), easily bored, great at communications, charming with a tendency for exaggeration.

Oz, to me, is a Taurus - practical, conservative, possessive, pragmatic, with a fondness for comfort which can fall towards the tendency for laziness.

Giles - hmmm...I see him as a Virgo - lover of books and news, practical but adaptable, idealistic and can also be cynical and skeptical and has an eye for detail.

Anya, I see as a Cancer - nurturing (she took wonderful care of Xander, even with the Penthousey spongebaths), emotionally intense, diplomatic, has a tendency to let loved ones over-run them, strong provider with a good head for business and financial matters.

Tara, to me, is a Libra - good social graces, peace & harmony, believes in balance & fairness, lover of books, music & flowers/nature, and though not very confrontational, very strong-willed.

Anyone else have any ideas or opinions? I still have all of my notes from my class in college so I can post them up if anyone likes astrology and would like to check them out.

Hmmm ... interesting thread. I'd agree with what you've posted so far. I think maybe Faith is an Aries. Adventure-seeking, bold, direct, passionate and not the kind to be tied down to one guy; also impulsive to the point of foolishness and easily frustrated.

Well I don't know much on the subject, so I'll agree with you, lol.

I spent a large part of my life studying astrology.  I read tons of books, and I even have a bookcase dedicated to them.  It's funny, I've actually had conversations with a friend of mine on what signs the characters are.

Spike is without a doubt a Scorpio for all of the reasons that you've given, Space.  One to add is the Scorpio's ability to recreate themselves.  Another symbol for Scorpio is the phoenix: it burns and rises anew from the ashes.  Spike does this over and over again, most notably when he gets his soul.  Scorpios and Capricorns also tend to be attracted to one another ;), even if the relationship is not exactly a healthy one: Spike and Buffy.  My parents, too, but that's a whole different story...

You've got the rest of the characters pegged.  Willow has a Piscean tendencies of low self-esteem, the need for others' approval, and addiction.  I agree with the rest on your list.  I think that Giles is a Virgo.  We (I'm a Virgo) appear calm and secure on the exterior, rule-followers, but we are capable of bending the rules as in Giles's Ripper days.

I'd add Angel/Angelus/Liam as a Taurus: broody, big forehead, bullish temper, and a tendency toward gluttony.  Liam with booze and whores, Angelus with killing and torturing, and Angel with being a pain in the ass :-)

Oh damn! I so didn't think about Angel! You have him pegged...he also has the love of creature comforts--like the mansion and in his series, a love for his clothes and cars and of course hair gel ;)

What about Wesley? Anyone have an opinions on Wes? He sort of has me conflicted...

Okay, Spike can be a Scorpio - but he's definitely a Libra rising, cause he's Love's Bitch.  Wasn't Buffy's birthday in April, which would make her an Aries?

I like Gemini for Wesley - two different natures - one bookish and intellectual, the other a fighter and sometimes bad guy.

How about Maggie Walsh - the hair is sort of Leoish.  And, Riley - Sagittarius?

If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who?

I don't think Buffy's birthday has ever been specified, but the birthday episodes were often in January, and Buffy once described herself to Riley as being "Capricorn, on the cusp of Aquarius," meaning a mid-to-late January birthday.  I've seen more than one author use the date of January 18th, but I don't know if there's any hard proof of that.

Riley a Sag? Nah...Sagittarius hates to take orders and Riley thrived in that type of environment. He kind of strikes me as an Aquarius--stubborn and resistant to change and can be unorthodox but works better in a structured environment. He was made a leader because he was an independant thinker in the field but was also able to adhere to orders when they were given. Aquarians also tend to be big lovers of adventure, science and advancement.

Wesley has Gemini like tendencies but he also comes off Libra-ish--love of justice and always trying to be fair and even, good manners, diplomacy, with a tendency to hide emotions behind intellect

Buffy's birthday is Jan 19th.

That's funny, cause I am a Sagittarus (Dec. 1st), and I thrived in JR ROTC, made it to 2ed Lt. Was gonna join the army but I got married and had kids.  So that part I can relate with Riley. lol

I don't know if Xander's smart enough to be a Gemini. I haven't known a single Gemini that wasn't highly intelligent. Part of the reason we get bored easily is because our minds aren't being stimulated enough...we've figured it all out and we're on to the next thing.

Spike a Scorpio, eh?....But is William? I wonder if we need to take in account the possible demon birthdays housed in our vampires.....

Feb 16 2007 03:33 am   #11Spikez_tart

Capricorn, on the cusp of Aquarius - which Buffy says in Doomed, so call me Duh.  Unless she was joking.

Okay, I like Wesley for a Libra, too.  And, no to Xander being a Gemini - he's more earthy.  Can't remember which ones those are.

William was definitely a Scorpio.  Was Spike turned during the Scorpio time period?  I don't believe so- the weather seemed too... nice.  I would have guessed maybe September, for some reason.  I think the Spike's demon caused his Scorpioness to come out freely... All that passion that he used to express in poetry, was then expressed in other ways...  Why can't he be real?  Wah :(

From Cecily's dress, I always thought it was Spring, since she's in cream and lilac. If it was fall or winter, she'd probably be in a darker dress, and with sleeves. JMO, though.

Unfortunately, he's not real, Scarlet :-(  But sometimes things work better on paper (or TV in this case) than they do in real life.  I used to know a guy who was probably as close to a real live Spike as you could get, right down to the white blond hair, the black clothes, and the Doc Martens.  All that pure sexual magnetism was mesmerizing, but it distracted me from the scorpion's stinger.  Ouch :-P

Anyway, I digress.  I thought more about Spike being a Scorpio today: all that black clothing, the BDSM, the sex, the sex, and the sex.  Did I mention that the part of the body that Scorpios rule are the genitals?  Remember when Spike tells Buffy that his blood doesn't always run in the direction of his brain.

I could see William as a Scorpio as well, just a mellower version.  Being turned into a vampire released him from the confines of a Victorian upbringing, sort of magnifying what was already inherent in William's personality.  William was passionate about poetry even when it meant not fitting in with others.  Perhaps he didn't fit in because he wasn't comfortable in his own skin; it's hard to be comfortable around other people when you aren't comfortable with yourself.

Unfortunately, we don't get to see much of William on the two shows.  Unbridled Brunette's "Forward to Time Past" (shameless pimping) gives what, in my opinion, is an extremely accurate characterization of what William would have been like.  And he's really dreamy

Immortal- I know about that fic.  I'm dying for an update!

Anyway, yea, I know all that about Scorpio's- I am one!  In fact, I started out a prude myself... And the poetry, and the writing.  I won't lie- bought myself a leather duster for my 21st last year.  I look so bad ass in that coat...  Right... um, Scorpios are very complex and sexual individuals- whether they wear it on their sleave or not is irrelevant- it's there.  For years people tried to convince me of being a closeted freak, just cause I'm a Scorpio... okay, TMI, and I'm shutting up right now.

You rock, Scarlet. I'm sure you'd look a badass in that coat.

I don't usually think about these things...so nod and agree the way through.

Thanks, Dead Man Walking :D

I don't usually think about these things either- though of course I'm aware of what the usual tendencies of a Scorpio are, since I am one, and Gemini's, the fickle bastards, cause I used to date one, and a friend to another- definitely split personalities...
