This is a story in my What If...? series. What if Buffy had run faster at the end of Into the Woods and stopped Riley leaving? What would Spike have done to break them up?

Written for the good__evil community at lj. The Giles of an alternate universe was shown how their lives went in the universe we know from the show. This happened in their equivalent of late season six. Having seen what he did, Giles sat down and wrote an account of the major differences between the two worlds, and how they came to pass. Summary: The battle's done and they've kinda won, so what now? After Chosen, Buffy hears a tale from Xander that alters her direction and they both are left with ghosts of all those "I'll never" moments now that never has occurred.

For a reunion challenge - Fred tells Buffy that Spike is alive after Dana has cut off his hands.  She's not happy with either Spike or Angel when she gets to LA, but it all works out. :)

Another one for Suffy Haven's fic for banners - this one has Spike going into a coma from Dana's drugs, and while his hands have healed, he won't wake up. Angel goes into his head to bring him out, but finds out more than he ever expected to about his grandchilde's relationship with Buffy. He makes the call to bring in the only person who might be able to wake Spike up.
