Banner request for my fic LJ

Dec 29 2007 03:01 pm   #1Caro Mio

Would any of you wonderful readers/writers happen to be artists who make LJ banners?

I'd like to put Spike there, to reflect what the site is all about, so.....if you can, and then if you can tell me how to put it here, I will be most, most, most grateful. Leave a comment and we can discuss ideas?

Thanks!

I would be happy to help with any banners or other graphics you need -  I have done lots of work with an online series and also run the Whedon World Gallery www.whedonworld.com if you want to see some of my work - look for work by nmcil - I also have a flickr site with several Whedonverse galleries -

Ah, you've helped with Soul Survivor - cool.

The site address is in my sig above. I'd like to fit something into that layout, since I like the red, and I want the image to be Spike-centric, since everything posted there has him as the main character. I combine him with various ladies, though, so that's why just him. Oh, and the typical bleached look. I haven't written William, yet, nor had him look like basementSpike.

Other than that.....I'm open and clueless. It's not a paid site, as you can see by the ads there, so if that puts any limits....I have no idea how adjustable that layout is.

I will check out the site and make up several choices for you - I can always ask how to deal with the posting if I can't figure it out.

caromio -

working on your banners today - for now I will use Caro Mio as text title - do you have another title you want used for your LJ?  Maybe a quote or other small and simple text?  May I make one suggestion - since you are going to have a banner (I will stick with your black, red & White theme) think you might like the results better is you change your entry color to something more subdued than the ultra white you are using now.  If you want to keep the white, I will work on a banner than is primarily white to compliment the white.

Let me know if you have  title for your LJ ohter than Caromiofic.

Hi caromio -

worked on a few variations and will post them at my flickr site - they are simple but I think will go with your LJ - I did them with a graphic quality that I think reflects on spike in his more chip state - the pic i used will work with any fiction and if you ever want a william story I will be more than happy to work on something for you -  I have a very nice graphic that I did for 10 years of spike that you might like as well - it can be made to work with your black, white, and red journal -

I'll see if I can play around with the body color of the layout....it's just a default set up right. I'll see what LJ will let me do with it. Thanks.

I like those, where you're going....left a comment there, hon. Thanks so much.

I will work on the one you like, remove the corner eyes - I think it could use a Spike quote that you like - I would use small text for quote -  For now, I will adjust - let me know where you want me to send the file.  The design you have now will work well with this banner, I only suggest that you check to see if you can change your "entry color background" to something not so bright.

I've now reversed the background color, so it's white text on black.

Hey -

the LJ site looks great - like the darker pages much more and remember that if you want to add more text, just let me know -

Also, maybe you can send me instructions, or the link for "how To" for how your added your banner - I would like to have one as well.  Thanks for letting me help you with the graphics - I love working with these characters and I love using photoshop and doing digital collage - one thing you can change is my id - at LJ my id is nmcil12

Corrected the name.

You do this: Go to "Customize Journal", then "Customize your theme". That page says Mood Themes, Navigation Strip, Presentation. Expand all the options for Presentation. For my layout, the "Top heading style" is Custom, "Top heading custom background image" is the URL to my banner in Photobucket, "Top heading custom height" is 343, and "Hide top heading text" is Yes, and "Show line under title bar" is No.

DawnofMe helped guide me through everything. She figured out the specifics on her test journal. We needed to pick a different layout first, as the one I was using was giving her trouble adding a banner. I suppose if you're really good with the CSS customization for LJ, you can make anything work, but....most of us aren't that technical, lol.

Under "Style" at the left of the screen is where I changed all the colors of the layout.

CM, your LJ looks great.

Just thought I'd mention, the default icon you are using is one that I made (and personalised) for Dia.

thanks for the "How To Info" - I will try working with it.  However, I am still trying to figure how to post images correctly - My images seem to lose so much quality with that "insert image" form, I either get a very small image, which I don't like at all, or I change to format to my original size and get very poor quality from pixelation -

Thanks again -

You mean the Spike with the Desoto one? I've seen it all over LJ, so I had no clue.

Yup, that's the one.

LOL Really? I've never seen anyone (other than Dia, of course) using it before. Guess I should have stuck the 79 onto the end of Diabola and people would have been more likely to realise that it was someone's username.

Anyway, I just figured you'd want to know.

Is that the writing under Desoto Love? I couldn't even see anything there without squinting close up on the monitor. Probably why multiple people have had it. That was at least a year ago, though.....haven't seen it lately.

That icon? Yup, that red text would be my name. (Sorry, only just noticed what you were talking about.) Wonder who started spreading it because it's not like I'm very active on lj, and I never use an icon other than my default one for commenting. Only way someone could have found it was on my userpic list, where it says "bday prezzi by C", which should make it kind of obvious that it's not up for grabs.

Err, that bitchy sounding bit there, not directed at you CM. Would love to hear an explanation from the first person who took it though. Oh well, if people want to use icons with my name on them...
