James apparently went "Take that, Angel!" at Sarah's comment. Hee!

Did you guys see the James/Sarah pictures over at CivilizedJames.org? Adorable.

What was Sarah's comment?
Mar 21 2008 12:43 pm   #4Guest
They asked her who would she pick, Spike or Angel? She replied that she'd have to go with the guy that's here.

There's already a Paley Fest thread....

Did she mean at the Paley Fest there, or near Buffy there?

It almost sounds like when asked about the age difference between Buffy and Angel that Joss was almost saying that at Buffy's age she would have fallen for anyone.

Oh, I was referring to Sarah's comment that Spike/Buffy topped TV Guide's 10 Hottest Sex Scenes list. *g*

Yay Sarah for picking Spike. I don't care if she only picked Spike because James was there and not David/Angel.

I also like how she mentioned that her and James got the hottest scene in tv guide.  She told the crowd and then I think she told James. Something like we got the hottest scene. And that is when James say " Take that Angel"  giggles.

There are a couple of pictures of James and SMG together. They are so cute.

Here's the quote:

Sarah Michelle Gellar: (to James) You look at things lately and I've seen a bunch of lists recently where they were talking about favourite characters, favourite shows... I saw the best love scenes this week - it was you and me, by the way. (audience cheers)
James Marsters: Take that, Angel!

Podcast of the entire talk:  http://jossd.com/?p=80  And Sarah meant the one here, as in on stage, which was James. The only mention of David came at the end from Seth Green.

Yeah, that bit goes:

Moderator: I'm going to take this conversation onto a very serious plane now. Asked all the time. Final analysis, final verdict: Angel or Spike?
Sarah Michelle Gellar: Well, he's sitting on stage! (points at James)

And there's also:

Sarah Michelle Gellar: (on the Buffybot) You're playing a character for so long, and you don't want to get lazy and find yourself relying on certain things, so by taking away all the other parts of Buffy, I did have to find exactly the essence of her again, and... you know, it was fun to be his slave for a little while. (pointing at James)
James Marsters: Well, you got to be the master for a little while...

There's a ton of coverage of the event. Aside from the links already posted, there's panel moderator Matt Roush's thoughts, E!'s Kristin, Scifi Wire, iF Magazine, and TVSquad. Pics are up at Getty Images

got to love them curls, man.
it's totally cool for spuffy to finally be recognized by the masses. there is no love like there's.
Your heart will break, your tears will fall, but don't be suprised, if there is someone there, to catch you when you fall. Becuase you, yes you, are awesome.

I thought SMG-P looked amazing!! I am not a RL Sarah fan, for some reason,  probably unfounded, I just think she is a snob, K.  Anyway she glowed, her skin, her dress, she just looked really healthy, and happy.  I pray they get permission to release it on DVD!!!  Those snipits were not enough!!

Yeah!  Good to know that Sarah knows Spike's a good man, even if he is fictional :-P

I wish the same question had been asked of Joss.  I can see the 'deer caught in headlights' look  on his face.  I would have framed that picture.

I also loved how Joss nicely avoided the age difference question between Angel and Buffy.  The man knows how to cover his arse.  I wonder if he blushed.

hmm i wonder if sara's choice will affect who buffy ends up with? i certainly hope joss was listening!!!

Doubtful. According to James, Joss never listened to suggestions when he was writing the show, don't think he'd pick Spike just because Sarah said something. Besides, she didn't exactly give a glowing endorsement of Spuffy, she just went with the one who was there. I got the impression she would've said the same thing about Angel if David had been there instead of James. If both had been on the panel, I'm sure she would've waffled about how the two relationships are different and both important to Buffy, etc.

Thanks much for posting the link - wonderful to be able to hear the  panel discussion - enjoyed SMG the best along with Joss and James Marsters - I would have liked hearing more from all the participants and -

It would be great if some of the panel discussions and lectures from the more academic conferences would be available - Does anyone know if anythig from the conferences is available on DVD?

Was glad to hear that question regarding Buffy's age - was glad to hear Joss Whedon address the issue.  Bringing in Juliet's age is not as especially good connection with our historic times, women then married and entered the adult world, at very early age - but the sentiment and emotional content of Juliet and Buffy is the same.   Wasted time with the question about favorite film etc.

Loved Amber Benson's mention of Sullivan Travels, happens to be one of my favorite ever Classic Hollywood Sturgess films - I bet very few of the audience knows the film - "I Married A Witch" is another Sturgess great comedy -

Hope Everyone Has A Nice Easter Holiday -
