Membership activation

As you may have noticed from Dia's updates, she has enabled the mods to take over activating accounts.  However, when I took a look at them this morning, I can see that there is a very large backlog. I've deleted the ones that were on there twice (please don't reregister if you don't get a quick result, just ask me if your request for membership is on the list), and activated a couple of accounts, but they have to be activated one at a time, so it's going to be a long process.  I hope to be able to work on it some today, but it's going to take a while no matter what. Please give us a week or so to get through all the waiting accounts before you contact somebody about yours.  Thanks for your patience.

Whops, do you think it'd be better if the form allowed for the activation/removal of several accounts at once? I thought that once we got through the ones in there now the problem shouldn't crop up too often. You mentioned "accidental" re-registering though, I didn't think of that, that might make an option to take care of several entries at once pretty useful.

Well, I still have some other fixes on my list (not the least of which is that it appears reCAPTCHA was pretty thoroughly hacked and one spammer already got through, guess I'll have to use a different one, pity), I'll see that I put this on there somewhere. :)

It would make it easier, for sure. I've worked my way down partway through the "e"s, but I'm at work and don't know how long I can keep the site up. On the other hand, I've skipped a few because either the name or the email addy looked a little suspect. So, I don't know. I guess if I could do several at one time, and just skip the ones I want to investigate further, it would be helpful.  But, you're right, once we're done with these, it shouldn't be a big deal as long as we stay on top of things and clear it once a week or so.  Whatever you think is best. I'll just keep plugging away until I've got them all.

ETA: Okay, I made a big dent in the list. I deleted all the obvious ads and/or spammers (either from the user name or the e mail addy, or both) and I activated all the ones I was sure belonged here based on having seen them on the forum or in reviews or whatever. The others I'll get to as I can.
